A bit more work today, I painted Vallejo German Grey on roofs, terraces, and the lower parts of my mountainous lair. First layer(s) so some fine-tuning required of course.

Before spray painting it I added buttresses to the "drawbridge" part, they are simply made of foamboard topped with cardboard.

Structured plasticard left unglued for easier access, the squared ones are 26x26mm and fit neatly on top of a 1x1 footprint building.

Two elements from the spires box, paint still wet

A 2x2 footprint building and additional elements for another building, only 3 faces, the two levels unglued for now

Another building, the small terrace on the left needs to be glued back (hence why it doesn't show on the picture :biggrin.: )

And the Shrine of the Aquila building

More to follow

Thanks guys!

Only two colours, and far from perfectly applied, already give it a better look :biggrin.:

That would be quite cool to play these with those rules, but then I'll need to make rubbles also, damn more work :biggrin.:

Maybe, maybe the shields have been deactivated. Smells like a good narrative scenario opportunity I think.

I hope to convince my wife to start playing, she initially said "yes" then added these dread words "... when they are painted", so now I'm painting

A bit of progress to report. I brush painted Zandri Dust on the stuff from my first batch so as to improve coverage, then I added Warplock Bronze on doors and Leadbelcher on vents, fans and tubes. Now, I need to pick a colour for the windows. Washes and dry brushing to follow.

Today I spray painted some more stuff, in Chaos Black this time, taking advantage of a 45min resupply run my wife and her son did (we are theoretically allowed 30 minutes in stores, no hard enforcement so far but a good idea to go as quick as possible).

Thanks! I added a layer of heavy drybrushed Vallejo German Grey on the mountain sides and picked the spots I badly sprayed with a brush and Abaddon Black.

I also brush painted Abaddon Black on all the stuff I spray painted Chaos Black yesterday, I tend to always miss some spots so it is "routine" :biggrin.:.

After that, I drybrushed Vallejo German Grey on the platform floor and picked the "bas-reliefs" with Retributor Armour.

More tomorrow :biggrin.:

Are those statues going to be metal or stone?

Excellent question! So far leaning towards stone but still hesitating a bit.

That's gonna be wicked good.

Thanks! Now I just need not to mess them up :biggrin.:

A bit more work today: drybrushed Dawnstone on the rocks (not a new cocktail unfortunately), and heavily drybrushed Zandri Dust on the core part of the buildings at the top, finishing with a finer brush so as not to mess the underside and platforms.

The lower building and top right building are not glued yet, it is much easier for painting them.

The landing pad is expecting a coat of black, I forgot to spray it the other day. The Arvus Lander will very likely land on it and valkyries probably too (not at the same time though) :biggrin.:

Now I am planning to drybrush Ushabti Bone, then add details and washes.

That is a good idea. I won't glue anything to the platform except for maybe one of the octogonal towers from the spire box, so I can keep them relatively modular and add various buildings on top of them. Defense turrets, a radar, a huge statue, spires, ... all in the realm of possibilities.

This morning I got caught red-handed: my wife had to go to the office for unblocking her laptop (the system interpreted successive connection to her personal and 3 group mailboxes she must monitor as an attempted hack … quite inconvenient for working from home), she came back quicker than foreseen and found out the garage filled with a painting table with some more scenery, we moved it aside so she could park the car inside.

So expect more scenery work soon :biggrin.:

I was more thinking small turrets, akin to the tiny ones mounted on the Warlord and Warbringer, think of individual heavy bolters and such hidden on the walls.

Let's say they are hidden inside the walls and only activated in case of need. This said, it is an excellent idea. I already thought of using some of the extra shoulder weapons from the questoris knights but haven't done it yet. Heavy bolter and lascannons would be super cool.

I had the same idea. I found 4 heavy stubber and some melta. I also thought about using some Acastus laser cannons. as air defense!

Thanks guys!

I designed this a while back, but I feel it might be a bit too big for what you're going for here.

A bit too big here imho, perfect for a huge defensive wall.

I brush painted Zandri Dust on nearly all the buildings I undercoated yesterday, picking spots I missed. I also glued a few more pieces from the manufactorum set, taking a short break from painting scenery :biggrin.:
