New Years Open Day - Speculation

I want the Talons book...my Sisters of Silence would likely expand from a few squads to a full on army.

Also, why on earth would the Armiger replace Sentinels? O.o

They're completely different models in different armies and at a different scale.

See, I wouldn't mind the Loyalist Primarchs in the slightest if the game had the following rules (and each Primarch had World Changer, as well as being a Lord of War):

World Changer: You must be engaged in one of the following to use this model -

*A multi-year campaign with at least 40 sessions planned

*Writting Games Workshop meta-story

*An apocalypse battle of over 50,000 points per side

*Engaged in a battle using a GW campaign book where the character is noted to be present

*A battle with opponent's permission (preferably where you have both agreed to ignore the silliness of using Loyalist Primarchs in anything other than world-altering fashion)

Lord of War: You may only use one of these units if your opponent is also using one in their list

Frankly, they make less sense to hit the table for every match than a Named Character of Chapter Master rank does. At least the demon Primarchs have the excuse of "Demon - can actually be in widely dispersed combat areas one right after another, because Demon."

So basically you never want people to be able to use them? Gotcha

Well, it's great that you have no input in the rules. Some of us don't have the luxury of time for a 40 session long campaign or a 50k Apocalyse game.

If you can't stomach seeing the Primarchs in games, use your imagination and say it's all just a training simulation, or arrange games with like minded people.

At least I know this will never happen. They are selling far too well and GW will release more, just as any sensible business would.

So, on the idea of Gaurd getting new basic infantry kits:

While I personally don't expect it do happen any time soon, I hope that when they do, that the new kit fallows the interchangeable sprues design that the recent knights and AT scale Titans have been doing; with the legs, torsos, and heads on separate sprues with relevant cosmetic bits to help fill out the space(or just up the kit size to being 20-man squads to fill out the space), so that way they could make plastic kits for the named regiments by mix and matching different sprues of which most will be used by at least two to help justify the production costs(barring exceptions like the Mortian Iron Guard, sense their dress uniform style doesn't really exist anywhere else, but they'd likely share the basic/"Cadian" legs, and use the helmetless/commander's cap heads from the basic/"Cadian" heads sprue).

This would also make creating your own regiment with it's own look easier, sense you'd have more then just alternate paintjobs to help distinguish them. Though unless GW allows you to custom order which sprues you want, you'd likely end up needing to buy several of the different variants of the kit, or buy the spares from people who already did.

This is something I've been thinking about for a bit. and I think Killteam might be initially the way they introduce them. Steel legion Kill team, Elysian Kill team.

Then have "new Cadia" forces. Where their tech is now Cadian mixed with other regiments and tech, updated.

Maybe AStra militarum gets a mass drop heavy support trasnport. allows you to insert 60-70 infantrymen.

in my mind I see astra militarum as Scions meet Titanfall grunts and pilots.

When I look at AoS and how they set up all with hints about the various new army’s they’ve been releasing over the past couple of years, I think about what hints have been left in 40k to hook releases onto.

Obviously we’ll see some Black Legion in the near future and also Slaanesh. GSC are on their way and then we’ve got Sisters for a full army release later in the year.

But at the rate GW is pumping stuff out now, we’ve going to need a lot more than that! Gloomspite Gitz are getting 12 kits in 2 weeks! In old GW money that’s half a years worth of kits!

So what else is there? Ynnead Eldar is the only obvious one to me? But I have hopes for a new AM regiment.

Funny how some people want Primarchs to have the same status as any named character back in warhammer fantasy but are fine with other named characters being played in every single game lol

No idea how named characters were done in WHFB, but in 40K, named/special characters have only required opponent's permission in 3rd Edition. They didn't in 2nd, they didn't in 4th-8th (can't find the rules in any of the rulebooks I have).

Now, I have little care for named characters - I don't play any named factions except Farsight Enclaves, and I don't own a Farsight. Personally I think the game would be better served by a properly balanced "build your own hero" concept for all their styles of play than everyone just using named characters. Sadly GW has linked all kinds of "the best stuff" to the named heroes, making it even worse in the last couple of editions than the "Herohammer" of 2nd Edition (at least then you could make alternate heroes that weren't named using the Wargear cards).

Primarchs are something I could do without completely. I don't actually care that they exist and they really don't need the rules I proposed - I'd not play someone that thinks it is cool to just plunk one down in every game anyway. I just hope and anti-speculate that any other Loyalist Primarch ever shows up. The meta-story is bad enough with the one we have now as it is.

So, anyone else wondering if GW was dropping a hint in the latest regimental standard?

In the picture for the vigilus bit there is what looks kind of like an ambull on all fours emerging from a cave on the right of the picture

Although with that scale it would be titan sized so probably just me needing a new tin foil hat :)

Imagine a Blackstone Forstress style xpac with the other other xenos races added!

While I doubt it's related to Vigilus at all, they've said that there is more stuff coming for BSF: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2019/01/01/1st-dec-the-top-5-things-to-look-forward-to-in-2019gw-homepage-post-3/

If you’ve been playing Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress and you’re already hungry for more, you won’t have to wait long – 2019 will see new models for this game of dark quests, and new expansions to boot. If you thought a Man of Iron was cool, you haven’t seen anything yet…

We totally need another loyalist Primarch. There’s already 2 daemon Primarchs and Guilliman is no match for even one really.

Probably won't come until later though, to save them in their darkest hour.

All hail Rodimus! Primarch of the Autobots! :p

I'm surprised they have stopped production of the Wall of Martyrs terrain, it's really good. I've got a set but they still need a lick of paint unfortunately. I think I saw the turrets from the set in the Hemel GW store.

Wait they have? That was hecking awesome terrain.

Yeah, it's been gone a while I believe. GW still use it battle pictures though, which is frustrating as you can't get it other than the limited bits that's in the Wall of Martyrs kill team box. I managed to get the turrets on EBay, paying a bit over the odds but I really want the Aquila Strongpoint but can't justify what that goes for.

Again if anyone that's going to the open day can ask about it, it would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to what they will reveal!

Ooo, Genestealer infected/hybrids of other races would be an interesting addition to their range, though like Tau axillaries, those sorts of units would probably be to niche for GW to consider profitable to make and sell with any in-depth rules and kits...

I take back my earlier comment, now that does sound like something that might feature in Blackstone Fortress!

I think GSC infecting non-humans will be handled like the Nurgle rot infected xenos. Mentioned in lore, nothing on tabletop. Nurgle had made plague that even affected the warp resistant necrons.

All but confirmed it will be GSC and Gits.

BSF and KT might hold some surprises, but GW empty hype ( what's better than a man of iron? A woman of iron!!??!!134??@) does not convince me.

If they showcase Inquisition I'll be satisfied.

Would love to see another Chapter Upgrade sprue/lieutenant (preferably my boys in black) but I think it's too soon after IF sprue.

I mean, a SoS who could be used as an HQ or that SoB model they keep showing off would definitely be what gets me to buy it.

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition Ghaz!

But on a more serious note, I'm expecting GSC, an actual SoB model & primaris wave 2 as part of vigilus 2. That wave will include some sort of a devastator squad/heavy weapon sprue, a light transport along the lines of a land speeder storm, jetbikes, another type of reivers/scouts & a tease for the next "primarisized" character I'd wager. Obviously they should just give the people what they truly want, grot sharpshootas :P

And then blackstone and gloomspite gitz on the non-mainline 40k front. Although whatever is in blackstone will probably get some 40k rules that are dubious at best.

I want a lot of Slaanesh reveals (plastic KoS, Noise Marines, Fulgrim!!) but realistically I think the only Slaanesh stuff we'll get this year will be the daemons and mortal units for AoS. If we dont see some new 40k stuff for chaos (Abaddon, Oblit/Mutilators and new marines) then I'd be surprised. I wont speculate on BSF and Kill Team  and I don't know if the open day is the time they'd tease it but I hope some start collecting boxes for Horus Heresy or even a whole new HH boxset will be a thing.
