Deafbok: love the venerable dread, i kindof want one

Dosjetka: thanks, hoping to win a few points on the nostalgic value with a bit of a reimagining of the old pose

much video gaming has been suspended in order for this bit of progress on the vow;

just imagine 3 of these in a similar state

and the bonus techmarine - I mean the one with the odd pose (thanks Dosjetka hehe)

The Angel of Dorn looks superb Kinstryfe!

It's great to see how the Blood Angel bitz work well as I am doing similar with my own custom chapter for this project, with a slight twist.

Will you be giving the blade a light glaze of blue to blend the white and blue parts of the sword together or keep it as is?

In an update from my end, all things are sadly on hold as I have a very nasty case of the flu. I need an Apothecary's attention forca few days more before I can pock up the paint brushes again.

I, Mandragola, vow in the name of Rogal Dorn, Pedro Kantor and the Crimson Fists to get twenty two Veteran Intercessors (and some minor detailing on another eight), a converted Pedro Kantor, a Primaris Ancient and Lieutenant tabletop ready by 2nd March 2019.

This is a slightly mad pledge. I'm going to the finals of the UKGT and thought I'd bring a ton of Primaris guys to see what happens. These guys will bolster my existing Primaris army so I'll be able to field two battalions: one using indominatus crusade veterans and the other potentially using the liberators specialist detachment.

I've got the 10 intercessors from the starter set, which I basecoated yellow when I got them. These are getting a really thin coat of kantor blue (which I've tested on one without turning into too much of a blob).

I've built the ancient and given him the banner from the 25 year anniversary marine, which I've had lying around for several years. Good to finally find a use for it!

That leaves 12-ish guys to build, and my Pedro conversion to do. It's a lot of painting to do, but what sort of son of Dorn would I be if I picked something easy?

I'll do more or less detail on these guys depending on time. I'm quite happy with how the army looks so far so I'll eventually bring them up to this standard, if time allows. But the objective for the challenge is to get them to Warhammer world in an ok state - not necessarily to win prizes for painting.

These are my guys who are basically finished. I'm not counting them as part of the pledge, though the sergeant needs a power fist (which will look better I think) and they all need red right hands.

For Dorn, Terra, and the Emperor!

the red right hands are only for veterans, so they don't earn them basically till they are inducted into the first company, or given first company honors.  While most chapters equip white helmets to denote their veterans, crimson fists pick up the second hand.   They are fine for being interecessors, and only the sergeant would have earned the red right fist.

Otherwise, looking good and battle worthy.

Cambrius

That was a good idea. I did touch it up with some blue glaze and it looks much better. The only other thing I can't decide on is whether or not I like the white on the pistol. I wanted something different, but it really draws a lot of attention so I'm unsure.

Feel better soon so you can get to painting.

Some progress on my sword brother!

Picture quality is pretty horrendous....

Also, I was thinking of chopping off the sword bit on his backpack and simply keeping the candles, what do you all think? Backpack is the last step before completion!

Thanks. Yeah I might not do red right hands. However these guys are going to be veteran intercessors so I think it might be appropriate.

Honestly I’m not sure what the “correct” thing would be. I think I should do something to show that these guys are veterans and mark them out from their non-veteran brothers. I might try adding some battle damage.

I almost finished the Lt, but his face is giving me issues, it's one reason I don't like unhelmeted heads.

I got a box of centurions over the holidays. I was going to make them Ultramarine, but I'm going full primaris for that army and centurions aren't primaris. Since I had to get a new paint for my Hammer of Dorn model and I like the scheme I'm planning to make them a squad of devastator centurions.

So can I modify my last vow or do i need to make a new vow for them?

Some progress has been made, and I'm almost to the point where I'll be doing the eyes, and then the plasma coils. Before I get there, I was hoping I could get some advice. In the past my eyes have always been red, and my plasma has always been blue. Honestly, I could probably make plasma any color though, and I've been debating the same for the eyes.... what do you all think would look best?

Right, apologies for the lack of activity on my part here. I've been a bit busy with exams and work. I'm really glad to see people soldiering on with their vows and that we have some more completions! :tu:

I'll go through the last dozen posts and make sure I update the vows list in post #2.

Cheers,

Dos

Gone through and updated.

First off, welcome to Knightsword and Mandragola! :)

Congrats to Brother Sgt Arkley, Kinstryfe, and MarshallRigaud for completing their vows. :tu:

BCK: Lysander is looking good, mate. What kind of symbol are you going for on the shield?

marcusc: That Rhino looks gorgeous. All the added detail and the weathering... top notch stuff!

Brother Talarian: I think the sword on the backpack looks fine.

War Angel: Red for the eye lenses and blue for the plasma coils will look good. :tu:

Since people are sharing their work, I thought I'd share mine. Here's the progress on my metal 'Vanguard Veterans':

Three down, two to go. Oh, and then their jump packs.

Excellent work, Brother Cristopher.

The idea was something like this.

I had started painting it the original style I was going for before I switched to the studio style idea, so it will look different than it does now when it's finished.

Mandragola: nice solid vow

Dosjetak: thanks for your kind comments!

..and back with some techmarines, provided a nice break in their traditional mechanicum red, no heresy here though as already feeling the urge to paint some proper yellow again. As for the rest of the vow - Carnak is on the modelling bench, a re-screening of Ultramarines the movie is in order

I, Brother Pheidias, swear to uphold the honour of the VII. Legionnes Astartes, in the name of Lord Dorn, the Emperors Praetorian, and Our Emperor on Earth, Master of Mankind.

I shall serve by submitting one Praetor of the Sons of Dorn, on or before 061.M03, or failing that, subject my self to the castigation of the Pain Glove
