THE MOST EXCITING NEWS FROM BL IN YEARS!

The only thing that would come close (but would still be 2nd place to this Fehervari news) would be a confirmed release date for Abnett’s Pandaemonium.

WE NEED THE RELEASE DATE NOW!!!

  • 4 weeks later...

Cold Covenant pre-order next week, a look at the special edition and more of a synopsis. Time to re-read Fire & Ice I guess.

So it's actually Oblazt after all? Huh. Might this actually be going back to what set things off there, before Fire & Ice and The Thirteenth Psalm? Interesting

The special edition is going to be paired with Blindsight (peak story btw) which is also set on Oblazt, so I think this will be set before both 13th Psalm and Fire & Ice, since Blindsight takes place before both.

The death world that the Brine Dogs are sent to is Phaedra, since we see them in Altar of Maws, and the protagonists of this novel are deserting in order to avoid appearing in that short story (the fact they get a full novel might imply it was the wrong gamble to make lol) so it is safe to assume Cold Covenant takes place before that too.

As much as I hate to say it, I’m probably double dipping on both the Hardback and LE for this one. Is the Limited Edition the prettiest LE I’ve laid eyes upon? No, but I do think it’s nice and if it comes in with severe defects, at least I’ll have the hardback to boot.

I’m re-reading some of the Coil at the moment in order to refresh myself and be sharp for when this arrives in the mail. Now that we know a bit more about the setting of the book, Fire & Ice will definitely be revisited this week (not that it’s a chore, more so a treat, as Fire & Ice is solidly my favorite work of PF that isn’t a full novel).

What should one read again?

Certainly everything on Oblazt: Fire & Ice, 13th Psalm, Blindsight. Not sure how relevant will the Konteza be on this story.

I do know that if the creepy light under the ice does not get a reveal here it won't get it ever.

If the ship in the cover is truly the Blood of Demeter, then Requiem Infernal? It has only one scene on Oblazt.

In preparation for this I’ve already re-read everything you’ve listed except for Requiem Infernal (that’s up next). I would imagine that since this is a novel it will connect or intertwine towards another one of his novels (especially since GW/BL can’t help themselves regardless of PF’s genius. They’re not going to let him weave into a novella and a short story or two and be done with it) , so Requiem Infernal should definitely be on the docket.

All I’ll say is that there will definitely be references to different points in the Coil besides those mentioned above, and that re-reading it all AFTER Cold Covenant will probably bear much fruit.

To re-read stories now is to just arrive at certain realizations before others once the book releases, not that those realizations will be weighted above those that are brought to light later.

Link for UK GW.

I was refreshing the actual search and it wasn't showing. Only skylerboodie's post got me to manually search, so thanks for that.

The White Dwarf it was featured in should probably be part of the Warhammer Plus WD vault by now

I can confirm, it is on the vault.

Is Fehervari the most underrated author in BL? Most that have read him seem to love him, but I just don't see him come up in discussions of best BL authors, and he might easily be a top 3 guy for me
