Hello everyone.

I thought that it would be nice to do a wip thread instead of several different threads on different armies, asi I do a bunch of everything sometimes.

I will upload on this thread stuff i will be working on at that moment, as most of the things i paint have no background or story to them.

I'll start with these Alpha Legion minis i painted last night.

I still don't know what direction to go with these. I think i went too far with the green and left behind the turquoise.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Cheers!

They look good but

Maybe a blue wash to unify and tone down the green? I like the gradient, but it is true that it looks aa bit too green to read as Alpha Legion at first sight.

I do agree with this. Gulliman Blue glaze or a thinned wash of Drakenhof Nightshade should bring them closer to the blue-green of Alpha Legion.

I'd recommend thinning whichever wash you choose with Lahmian medium so you don't accidentally flip too far the other way

Thanks guys!

I did a coat of Guilliman Blue glaze and the shadows got more deep blue and the green toned down nicely, but it still looks quite harsh I think.

What do you think?

There's a fully green Alpha legion guy in the chaos codex and all sorts of colour schemes in the Death Guard codex, Alpha Legion can be any colour.

I'd say its more important you get the iconography right. I don't know how good your freehand is but I'd try some edge highlighting and symbols before assuming that the main colours are wrong.

Hello guys
After some horrible and depressing weeks painting zombiecide zombies I finally got to paint something of my own.
So, I entered into the Loyalty and Treachery event with my alphas.
I will paint a Praetor, a Veteran tactical squad and a rapier carrier with crew.
The following pics are from the praetor and the veteran squad, as I have yet to prepare the rapier and its crew.

I am starting with a Veteran legionnaire and the colour scheme will be a gradient from Kantor Blue to Sotek Green, with Coelia Greenshade on the deepest recesses and Silver trim. I'm still thinking if I should do the Legion markings in white or in green.

Cheers

Thank you brother.

I have been practicing my freehands more and will upload one marine with it as soon as i finish.

It does look odd on the bright green gradient, so I am toning down the gradient and keeping it from dark blue to turquoise on the highest parts, so that it doesnt look so bright.

I painted a legionnaire just to check on the new colour scheme. It looks kinda neat, but there are two things i didn´t like: the Delta symbol on the chest and part of the chain on the arm.
I'll keep an eye for them in the next marines.

Pics!

Yup, thats still wet astrogranite.
Fun tip: don't eat astrogranite. It tastes like dirt...

Edited by nusphigor

Thank you guys :)

Currently i am working on some bases for the army as I kinda want to go with a city fight theme, but just using the dirt tasting astrogranite is kinda boring.
So i'm adding concrete slabs, bricks, cables and stuff to give it a bit more of tridimensionality to them.

I am also looking for ways to change the way the flying primaris (forgot the name) are attached to the bases, as that piece of rotten plastic snaps all the time...

any ideas?

Hey all
I tried something different and painted a Raven Guard Veteran just to see how it looked like.

It kinda feels better than the alpha legion i was painting, even if it's just a sketch...

I think this way things look way more promising.

More to come.

Hello guys, long time no post.

Here are some pics of my praetor. I still have to start highlighting and doing some weathering.

Thank you brothers!

I managed to finish him tonight except for the weathering, i might do it tomorrow if i can squeeze a bit of time as my day out was today.

From now on he will be called Praetor Blashyrkh (because I've been listening to the album northern chaos gods from immortal whilst painting xD )

Cheers!

Thanks brothers!
I finally finished my Praetor, Shadowmaster Blashyrkh

Hello brothers!

I updated my armies and divided my minis for my Imperial Fists and another Legion.

The Imperial Fists can be found here but for the second army i kinda want your help guys.

I have the following units for this:

- 2 Legion Tactical squads of 10 man, all with bolters except for the sergeant which has a bolter and a power fist. (mostly MK III marines with some conversions with mixed armour)

- 1 Legion Tactical squad of 10 man with 7 with boltguns, 2 marines without weapons (i have to get 2 more boltguns) and a sergeant with a combi boltgun made with a tigrus boltgun and an additional barrel) which i plan to add to a left hand power fist. (MK IV and MK VI mostly)

- 1 Tactical Support squad of 5 men, 4 with plasmaguns and the sergeant with a combi plamagun. (Mostly MK III and the sergeant with a mixed armour)

- 1 Heavy Support squad of 5 men, 4 ryza lascannons and a sergeant with a boltgun. (MK III and the sergeant with mixed armour)

- 1 Heavy Support squad of 5 men, 4 ryza lascannons and a sergeant with a boltgun. (MK II and the sergeant with mixed armour)

- 2 Rapiers with quad cannons and MK IV crews

- 3 Contemptors, one with double Kheres, one with Double Lascannons and one with Power Fist, boltgun and the option for a kheres or a multi melta.

- 1 Armenneus Valthex which I want to convert to a normal Techmarine with a conversion beamer

- 1 Lugft Huron with Terminator armour which i want to convert to a normal Praetor

- 1 Terminator Chaplain with crozius and Bolter.

The question brothers, is that since most of the minis have a heresy style, which legion should I paint them as?

I was leaning towards a heretic legion, that way i can use them to play against my fists but i do know i dont want Iron Warriors because Dorn would scream at me at night.

Any ideas brothers?
