I've been reading online and managed to narrow my choices to 2 traitor legions: Night Lords and Word Bearers.

 

Now the question is: Which battles are there in which the Imperial Fists fought one of those legions in the horus heresy?

 

On the meantime, i managed to make some stretched faces and flayed skin for some minis, mostly sergeants, a rapier and a contemptor. Now i will wait on a pack of skulls that i have in the mail to add to these minis.

On the meantime, what do you guys suggest?

Hello guys!

I decided to work on an alpha legion army, so i vowed to work on this minis first and see how far i can go.
These are Lord Arkos the faithless, 2 squads of csm, 2 havocs squads and a contemptor.

Hello guys!

I've been painting my Conversion of Lord Arkos and some Alpha Legion Characters.

Lord Arkos the faithless
a chaos lord with jump pack, plasma pistol and some sort of daemon sword or relic
a Chaos Sorcerer with a conversion to use as a staff or a sword
a Dark Apostle

 

i'm also painting the weapons of 2 of my contemptors

 

So, i suppose i 'm on a good way to complete my patrol.

 

also, i've been playing kill team with my inquisitorial guard and i thought i might share them with you

Hello everyone.

I've been painting the commanders of my chaos warband and in the end i had to switch to Night Lords. The Alphas just felt like the same old thing and just was feeling awful painting them.

So, here are my minis as they stand right now. Just have to paint the symbols and the reds. Also the gun casings, which i don't know if i should paint them red or black.

 

As for fluff, i was thinking that this warband is composed of veterans of the horus heresy that got stuck in transit in the warp after the murder of Nostramo. That way I can get the miniatures of Konrad and Sevatar and not feel odd because of that.
I still have to think of which kind of company are they and maybe read how was their organization in the horus heresy, as this army is planned to be useful in both 30k and 40k games.

I finally finished the hq's of my night lords army. here are some pics of them.

 

 

 

 

Chaos Sorcerer with Staff or sword, depending on the points
 

 

 

 

Dark Apostle or a daemonologist if i ever use daemons

 

 

Chaos Lord with Combi Melta and a sword, maybe the flayer of the faith and fury book

 

 

 

 

 

Chaos Lord with jump pack, plasma pistol and the daemon sword of khorne

 

 

Next i will paint some troops to see if i can play a small patrol game.

It's always nice to see other people's NL . However, the pic where you show the weapons for your Comptemptors leads me to believe that your paint technique is better than the rest of the pictures show. I think it's the lightning. In that picture, I can see the use of highlights and even some blends. On the other hand, these elements seem to be missing in the other pictures (your models are partially covered in shadows). Don't get me wrong, I am still learning the whole photography thing, but I see many good ideas that sadly get covered by the somewhat poor lightning. Again, I am no expert, but I think your pics would benefit from an appropriate lightning.

Regarding the conversions, the horns of the demon head attached to your Dark Apostle's shoulder pad are too big, IMHO. The ammo pouches also look a tad big. However, the demon head is an element that tells a story. Maybe it was a demon that dared to defy his master? Same with your Chaos Lord with jump pack. It seems that he has just lost an eye in battle, which is super cool. That said, I would go for a darker color for the blood, or at least, I would try to shade it a little (darkening it towards the center of the wound). Also, did you drill the plasma gun barrel? The terror marking design looks nice, btw! I also like the skin robe you modeled for your Sorcerer.

Thanks brother! I really fail at light when painting pictures XD

It's one of the things i have to improve on (as well as basing)

 

I will take into consideration your suggestions on the conversions and the sizes of the stuff, i always do things over the top (just look at my chainreaper conversions XD ) and they end up being too cartoonish.

Hello guys.

It seems i became too loyal for my own good and won't be finishing this army as i have repurposed the minis for a 30k loyal army, it seems it will be Ultramarines as a friend has Word Bearers and we want to play the calth war.

So, i have decided to leave these 4 minis as they are (maybe just change the jump pack on the khorne lord to a normal backpack) and just add some cultists so i can play kill team games with them.

I might upload pics of the cultists when i get on to it bue for now i suppose this project is done.
