jbaeza94
*best enjoyed on desktop* Index Astartes Origins The War of the Beats brought large amounts of destruction to the Imperium. Lord Commander of the Imperium Maximus Thane had decreed that the Imperium would raise as many new Chapters as they had gene-seed in the great vaults of Terra to sustain. A Fourth Founding chapter, the Legion of the Iron Lion was created with one goal in mind, to engage with the orks. Invictumos, a world that prides itself in its martial ability, and one that has been fighting the orks since the days before the Imperium, would be the homeworld to such a chapter. As to which of the successors of the First Legion provided its veterans to raise the new chapter, it is not known. Only a legend told to initiates remains, "Just as the red halo engulfed the Flame of Consecration, the consecrated Iron engulfs the Sword of the Lion. And as the wings gave flight to the sword of the Angels, the Angels gave flight to the Legion of the Iron Lion" Homeworld: Invictumos To be fleshed out in the future. Battle Doctrine Always steadily on the advance, the Legion eradicates their foes with accurate and deadly fire. As one squad lays down fire, the other will advance. Before their foes can realize what has happened, the astartes of the Legion are upon them. With blades drawn, the legionnaires eradicate their enemies. The legionnaires of the Iron Lion have developed an affinity for the pole-arm, for the flamer, and for the plasma weapon in order to fight their most hated foe, the green tide. Close combat squads march into battle with chain glaives and wrist mounted bolters and flamers. Tactical and hellblaster squads armed with plasma weaponry aim to take down ork nobs and bosses. Contemptor and redemptor dreadnoughts storm into the maelstrom of battle unleashing a hail of fire and plasma into the ramshackle vehicles of the orks. However, on occasion when facing a large Waahg, support will be needed. They call upon their unique ally, Magos Explorator Reslpo Telfa. The Magos has been known to bring the full might of his fleet, which includes a Knight Host and a warhound pack, upon the enemies of the Iron Lions. As such, not even the mighty stompa can against the combine might of the two armies. The Legion and the Unforgiven Circles within circles. Truth within lies. Lies within truth. Each cog has its role to play. Only one Legionnaire is ever truly aware of the treacherous acts of Luther and the Fallen, the Grand Arbiter. Personally trained by the Interrogator Chaplains of the Dark Angels, the Grand Arbiter's purpose is to be an extension of the will of the Unforgiven, and guide his Master of the Legion in the Hunt. Fully indoctrinated into the higher levels of the Inner Circle, more so than the Master of the Legion, the Grand Arbiter is the sole Legionnaire to perform interrogations and deliver Judgement and Redemption. As with the other Unforgiven, many lies exist within the truth that is told to those who have been indoctrinated into the Hunt, but how much is truth, and how much is a lie? Rework in progress. Going for a more traditional relationship. The Cohorts of the Legion The Legion is divided into two self-sustaining cohorts, consisting of 6 centuries of 100 troops. Cohort Leonus bears scarlet shoulders and consists of the 6 odd numbered centuries, while Cohort Ferrum bears black shoulders and consists of the 6 even numbered centuries. The1st and 2nd centuries are the veteran centuries of the Legion, while the 11th and 12th centuries are the dedicated reconnaissance and training centuries, or the Vanguard. Cohort Ferrum consists entirely of Primaris Marines, except for the dreadnoughts who were interred prior to the reorganization of the Legion, while Cohort Leonus consists entirely of the Old Guard. The two cohorts bring most of their strength to bear every time they engage with the enemy, creating an overwhelming amount of force applied quickly, leading to the quick destruction of the enemy. When faced with particularly large campaigns against orks however, the Legion will deploy both cohorts simultaneously to lay waste to the green tide, followed by the scorching of any land touched by the menace. Every decade, the two Cohorts will meet at Liamane to compete in the traditional Games of the Lions of the Emperor. At these games, honor duels are held for those Marines who wish to challenge the Century, Cohort, and Legion champions and usurp their position. Additionally, the banner bearers of the Iron Wing and Lion Wing’s duel is the most anticipated of all, as the two are dueling for the honor of being led by the Master of the Legion and his command staff for the next decade. The Wings of Judgement and Redemption The Hunt is omnipresent. In honor of the I Legion, the veterans of the first and second century carry the moniker of Wing. The Lion Wing of Cohort Leonus, their pauldron painted bronze underneath the Sword and Cog of the Legion signifying judgment for traitors of the I Legion, they are the Old Guard of the Hunt. The Iron Wing of Cohort Ferrum, their pauldron painted silver underneath the Sword and Cog of the Legion signifying redemption for the loyalist of the I Legion, they are the New Blood of the Hunt. At inception, the Iron Wing and Lion Wing were mirrors of each other. Every space marine had a suit of terminator plate, cataphractii, tartaros, or indomius, and a bike, speeder, or Unforgiven aircraft assigned to him. The veterans would deploy as the mission dictated. Experts in all aspects of war, the coordination achievable by the Iron and Lion Wings was without peer. Of the 100 Legionnaires assigned the century, 30 are selected to be Iron Guard or Lion Guard. These legionnaires would be issued special equipment, a storm shield and Mace of Absolution (Flail of the Unforgiven for sergeants) for use in terminator armor, and a Corvus Hammer and Plasma Talon for use on their bikes. It is from the Iron Guard and Lion Guard that lieutenants were chosen from. All this changed after the devastation of the Legion. After the much needed primaris reinforcements arrived, it was only a decade before the first primaris legionnaire made it into the severely undermanned Iron Wing. He fought alongside the other legionnaires in gravis armor when they were in terminator armor, and in tacticus armor in a land speeder when part of the fast attack detachment. Soon after, one became two, two became ten, and after decades of attrition, ¾ of a century worth of primaris had been inducted into Iron or Lion Wing. After the reorganization of the Legion, all primaris were consolidated into the Cohort Ferrum, and all space marines into Cohort Leonus. From this point on, the Lion Wing became known as the Old Guard of the Hunt and the Iron Wing as the New Blood of the Hunt. The Lion Wing still fights as it has since its inception, but the Iron Wing deploys almost exclusively in gravis armor, mission dictating aggressor or inceptor pattern. Three squadrons of Nephilim and one of Dark Talons sit in their armory for use when needed. The Iron Guard deploy in gravis armor with specially fitted storm shields, Maces of Absolution (Flails of the Unforgiven for sergeants) and fragstorm grenade launchers or jump pack. As is tradition, all Cohort Ferrum lieutenants are drawn from the Iron Guard. The Legion Guard To be Legion Guard is to embody the honour of the Legion. They bear the colors of both Cohort Ferrum and Cohort Leonus upon their shoulders, foregoing battlefield role designators on their right pauldron, instead having a second sigil of the Legion emblazoned upon their shoulder. On their helmets, 2 bold stripes in the colors of the cohorts run down the entirety of the helmet. The armories of Liamane are open to the Legion Guard, having access to weapons and relics that even centurions may be denied access to. The Legion Guard have two purposes, preserve the life of the Master of the Legion, and to preserve the honour of the Legion. Unmatched in combat within the Legion, very few foes ever even have the opportunity to attempt to harm their lord. While other chapters draw their champions and honour guards from line troops, the legionnaires of the Legion Guard descend from all offices and roles. Chaplains, librarians, apothecaries, no office is beyond the reach of the Legion Guard. Mesokshun, the Spear of Liamane The Champion of the Legion, Mesokshun is the premier duelist of the Legion. As a neophyte, he was unmatched by his peers, and was able to best many of his masters. Once he ascended to a full legionnaire, his martial prowess was quickly noted, and his ascension to Champion of the Century was all but inevitable. He served as Champion for the 6th Century for only a decade, before he challenged the former Champion of the Legion for the role at the Games of the Lions of the Emperor. His affinity with the spear was unprecedented and after hours of dueling, Mesokshun was able to best his opponent, becoming both the youngest legionnaire of the Legion Guard, and only legionnaire to not serve in the 1st or 2nd century before serving in the Legion Guard. Mesokshun marches into battle with the Aegis of Caliban, a relic storm shield gifted to the Legion upon its founding, and Harbinger, a power spear gifted to the legion by the Night Stalkers space marine chapter in M36. Azziukug, the Ancient of the Legion The Standard Bearer of the Legion, Azziukug is one of the most revered legionaries. The oldest legionnaire of all the Iron Lions, Azziukug is not to be underestimated. His centuries of knowledge make him a formidable tactician, and any centurion would be wise to consider his words carefully, especially when he disagrees. Azziukug served in many prestigious leadership roles, from sergeant of the Iron Guard, to lieutenant of the Iron Wing and Centurion of the 4th Century. He gave up his leadership position to serve in the Legion Guard upon the demise of the previous Standard Bearer of the Legion, and took up the mantle himself, seeing it as a more honorable position to serve. Azziukug marches into battle with a tight grip upon the Banner of Invictumos, and Fury of the Sun, a heavily modified plasma rifle slung under his arm, the badge of his office. Prior to discovery by the First Legion during the Great Crusade, Invictumos had made contact with a Forge World, Crilia. The planet came to revere technology and the Omnissiah. Bionic augmenttion was not uncommon, but not to the extent of forge worlds. When the Dark Angels arrived, the planets defense force (the Leonus di Casarii, Lions of the Emperor) fought furiously but were ultimately defeated by the astartes and forced into compliance. Later in history, an astartes chapter is founded on Invictumos. This chapter has close ties to the Lions of the Emperor (still the planets PDF). They call them fellow Legionaries, and share some organizational structure (a Legion made of 2 cohorts, each made of 6 centuries). Another aspect that they share is the alliance with the Forge World Crilia. there is some tension and a secret agreement between the chapter and the Forge World, but they can be found working together often. ill touch on this in a little fluff piece later. The Chapter is not entirely trusted by the DA, and while they participate in the Hunt, they rarely interrogate and rather turn over the fallen to the DA or other more trusted chapters. starting to play around with some BBC code and trying to make the intro more presentable. expect some things to change in this area Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/353770-ia-legion-of-the-iron-lions-lasc-2019/ Share on other sites

Brother Tyler
There are two ways to find the template: The hard way is to go to the Downloads section and look in the Background (Fluff) Downloads section (button on the left column), then click on Tools (also in the left column) and look for the WH40K DIY Article Templates. Alternately, you can go to the DIY Resources topic here in the Liber (the main Liber forum, not the Liber Astartes sub-forum) and look at the DIY Aids section (second from the top). You'll find a link to templates for both BBCode (online) articles as well as for print articles (Microsoft Word files). In fact, the Liber's DIY Resources topic is really good because it also has links to a number of handy articles. There's also a third way, and that's to search for "template" and then go through the results that are returned until you find the one you're looking for. Or I could just give you the link . Are those the actual colors of your Chapter badge? My chief concern with the badge is that it is quite complex, with fine detail. Do you plan on painting it by hand? Or do you plan on creating decals? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/353770-ia-legion-of-the-iron-lions-lasc-2019/#findComment-5253128 Share on other sites
jbaeza94
Out of interest, where in the imperium is Invictumos, could help decide what killed half the chapter. Thats never been established. So i guess anywhere could work haha Are those the actual colors of your Chapter badge? My chief concern with the badge is that it is quite complex, with fine detail. Do you plan on painting it by hand? Or do you plan on creating decals? Yes that is the actual chapter badge. i had decals made for it. they look alright shoulder pads, but youre right, it is fairly complex, and it did come out a bit pixely. they look good on big surfaces. theyve only been placed on one squad. so they can still be redone. id like maybe to have 2 badges, a simple one and a complex one for vehicles and the like. maybe ill find a simpler lion picture to place in the middle. just one head. jbaeza94
Well their homeworld is constantly being attacks by orks, since you know once theyre there, theyre kinda there forever. Also, the chapter was created in the aftermath of the Beast as a chapter who specialized in killing orks. i think it would be fitting that orks would be the ones to seriously wound them. an alternative, would be Hive fleet hydra. mostly because im building a hydra army ha. could make for some good pictures too Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/353770-ia-legion-of-the-iron-lions-lasc-2019/#findComment-5253148 Share on other sites
jbaeza94
Under repair rename characters with new established naming conventions check for continuity of lore (its a 3 year old story, much has changed since) “Only in Death Does Duty End” Loading dock was teeming with life. Chapter serfs and servitors moved frantically, attempting to complete their tasks quickly. The loud clank of pistons and gears grinding against each other, air pressure being let out in puffs of steam. Chaos. Loud claxons sang their song, while the squads of astartes were directed to their landing vehicles. Righteous Respite. It has delivered squad Carmelio into battle twice before, and for the third time, it will be delivering us again into the maelstrom of battle. The 7 battle brothers stood in formation in front the drop pod, Honored Sergeant Carmelio, paced in front of the formation. His voice was like a guilded bolter, and elegantly crafted machine of booming terror with one purpose, bloody war. “Into deaths very own hand we dive once more brothers. For this very purpose the Iron Lions have been founded, because no other chapter can smite down the green tide like the sons of Invictumos!” Sergeant Carmelio observed us as we all stood in silence, unmoving figures of discipline. His voice dropped from loud and charismatic, to a low speaking tone. “Now, this menace has decided to spring to life on our very own home world once more. This time they have managed to lay waste to many fortresses of Invictumos.” Brother Victor raised his voice, “What about the warhound pack pledged by Crilia III Honored Sergeant? Have the servants of the Omnissiah, blessed be His iron, abandoned their duties?” Sergeant Carmelio shook his head. “No brother, this is a Waagh the likes of which has never been seen by Invictumos. Warhound pack Burning Absolution has been nearly destroyed. Only one god machine remains, and it has been rendered immobile. It has stood sentry in front of the gates of Liamane for the last 3 days. It will not hold much longer.” “Liamane?” spoke out Genevia angered. “Have the orks really pushed as far as our fortress monastery?” “Have the Lions of the Cassari really become so weak?” spewed Leon. “Silence you two!” shouted Sergeant Carmelio. “Do not disrespect our fellow legionnaires again! They may just be men, but they too are Lions nonetheless. Is that understood?” “Yes Honored Sergeant” they humbly replied. “Very well. Our task is too to provide much needed relief to the forces defending Liamane. This will be done via drop pod assault. Lions of the 4th century will be deployed in full force behind the main line. We will crush the orks between the walls of the city and the wall of bolter fire. Once we land, clear the immediate area of threats. Our squad will be deployed with a heavy bolter and flamer. Apothecary Fillion will be joining us as well. Our specific task will be to overrun the ork artillery pieces, then advance towards the east wall, and isolate the orks attempting to breach the walls. Squads Devian and Quatria will be operating to our left. Squad Angelo will be to our right. The other four squads will be deploying on the opposite end of us, and will pincer the green skins between us and them. The Centurion and his praetorians will be joining them. We will be receiving close support from an aerial contingent of the Lion Guard. Are there any questions?” “Will we be able to witness the Knights of the Lion Guard in battle, Honored Sergeant?” I asked inquisitively. Sergeant Carmelio chuckled to himself. “How long have you been a full battle brother? 2 years?” He laughed once more. “I don’t think your quite ready to witness them yet. They have their own tasks to accomplish, far far from us. May the Emperor grant you long enough life to witness them.” I heard footsteps approach us. The astartes wore dark gray power armor just like ours, but his arms and helmet were white. His helmet had various optics attached to it, and his arm carried a tool with drills and other fine instruments. His right shoulder pad had been recently painted to white, but a bright red helix adorned it. An apothecary, a newly trained apothecary. “Ah, welcome Apothecary Fillion. Honored to have you join us.” The apothecary simply nodded. “Are there any more questions?” There was brief silence. “Very well. Ensure your war gear is properly anointed and say any last prayers to appease its machine spirit. Stand by for boarding.” I looked down and examined my heavy bolter. I spoke to its machine spirit and prayed to the Omnissiah that it may fire true. It was a beautiful creation. Its intricate mechanisms carefully blessed and anointed by many brothers before me, each name engraved along its side. it was an honor to carry this weapon. Should I fall in the execution of my duties, may my name be inscribed as well. A loud claxon rang. It was time. The doors of Righteous Respite dropped down. The inside was painted bone, with a silver navigation console in its center. A red light dimly lit the interior. From the top hung a storm bolter. It swiveled to the left, then to the right, up, then down. Finally it rested in its home position. One by one we filed off into the drop pod. I stood in front of my harness and backed into it. My power pack connected with the harness, and a brace came down over my head to secure me in place. The doors were raised. The red light dimly lit the interior, but my helmet adjusted its visual sensors to account for the dimness. On the outside I could hear the explosive bolts being attached by the servitors. The next time those doors would open, we would be on the ground. The pod shook as it was lifted up by mechanical arms and placed into the launch tube. “Lions,” Sergeant Carmelio roared over the vox, “Invictumos shall not fall!” “For Invictumos is invincible!” we all shouted in reply. The red light turned yellow. The engines began to fire inside the drop pod. "Honor the Legion!" The pod was then ejected from its launch tube and blazed towards Liamane. The pod shook violently as we went from high orbit into low orbit. The heat began to rise inside the pod, atmospheric friction set the pod ablaze from the outside. High pitched pings could be heard coming from the outside. We were taking fire. I worried not however. This was not the first time I dropped into fire laden skies. The armor of the pod would hold... Two high caliber shots managed to pierce the armor, and struck brother Leon in the chest. It left a very deep scar on his armor, but the round had lost most of its velocity, and he remained uninjured. Suddenly a loud explosion was heard and the pod began to spin violently. The yellow light was flashing red now and warning sirens were blaring. We were not coming down upright anymore. We were tumbling through the sky. I could hear the thrusters outside engaging and disengaging. The machine spirit was desperately trying to correct the trajectory and stabilize the pod. “Lions!” bellowed Sergeant Carmelio, “What is your duty?” “To serve the Emperors will!” we replied “What is the Emperors will?” “That we fight and die!” “What is death? “It is our duty!” “Brace!” The thrusters under the drop pod fired and attempted to slow our descent, but it was not enough. Righteous Respite crashed into Invictumos. I could not see for a moment, but I knew something wasn’t right. I felt… pain, a sharp pain, and could feel my torso was becoming wet. I looked around me and could see what remained of Brother Genevia. The control console had had broken loose and crushed him against his harness. I continued to look around, and could see my brothers unbuckling their harness as best they could. Then I heard a loud bang. The explosive bolts activated. The doors shot open and it was then that I realized we were laying sideways. I attempted to move too undue my harness but noticed that I could not. I noticed, I… I had been impaled through my chest by the storm bolter’s pintle mount. My armor had begun to deploy coagulants and pain killers to help me cope with my injury and fight on, but it was not enough. Breathing began to become labored, and I could feel that my primary heart had failed. A scream was heard, “Apothecary!” It was Brother Leon. The apothecary moved towards me. The roar of ork shootas and boltguns filled the sky. The fighting had begun. “Where is that heavy bolter?” shouted Sergeant Carmelio. “He’s been critically injured Honored Sergeant!” responded Leon. “Do what you must! Just get me that weapon!” Sergeant Carmelio ran off to find better cover and employ the other battle brothers. The apothecary looked at me, he shook his head “You cannot be saved.” He bent down next to me and stared at me. “It was once said, pain and death are illusions of the weak mind. While his gene-seed returns to the Chapter, a Marine cannot die. Without death, pain loses its relevance. He that may fight, heal him. He that may fight no more, give him peace. He that is dead, take from him the Chapter's due.” He turned to Brother Leon. “You will need my help. You must carry his weapon; it is needed on the battlefield.” “Yes apothecary.” Leon solemnly replied. “Brother, I will give you the Emperors peace, so that you may be useful to the Legion once more.” He stood and drew his bolt pistol. He raised it and leveled it with my head. I closed my eyes and began to whisper to myself, “Glory to the Emperor on Terra, may His will be done. Praise be the Omnissiah, may His iron provide the way. Honor the Primarch. May He always guide us. Only in death, does duty…” Peace. Bjorn Firewalker
The short story is well-written, but requires further editing before it's fit to post online. Remember, the tabs that separate paragraphs in a *.txt or *.rtf file, are automatically omitted when it's converted into an *.html file, rendering the story a difficult-to-read "wall of text." A blank line is usually used to divide paragraphs in an *.html file... Like so. Bjorn Firewalker
Only one Legionnaire is ever truly aware of the treacherous acts of Luther and the Fallen, the Grand Arbiter. 1 Master of the Legion 1 Grand Arbiter - Master of Sanctity, the only chaplain of comparable role to interrogator chaplains 1 Chief Oracle - Chief Librarian Does this mean the Grand Arbiter is the de facto Chapter Master, overruling the "Master of the Legion" whenever the subject of the Fallen is raised? That can cause a lot of confusion, in addition to igniting a power struggle that can tear the Chapter apart. IIRC from the 7th Edition Codex, each Dark Angels successor's Chapter Master names an heir and entrusts this heir with all his knowledge of the Fallen, so if the Chapter Master dies, his replacement may resume the Hunt for the Fallen without delay. The training cadre the Iron Lions had when the Chapter was founded, should've taken the Master of the Legion into the Dark Angels Inner Circle- at least given him enough knowledge to understand why the Dark Angels and their successors are organized the way they are, prevent misunderstandings that can lead to the destructive power struggle I foresaw, and- when a Grand Arbiter inevitably falls in battle- allow his replacement to continue the mission without delay. Brother Tyler
I just noticed that the image has some funky things going on, and I'm not sure if they're on purpose. It looks like you've split the scheme manually, but have used the tabard for the right (red) side and the loincloth for the left (black side). As a result, the left chest shows the aquila, there is a red quadrangle on the boltgun, and the bottom of the tabard/loincloth is misaligned. Also, the black helmet stripe only covers the left portion of the helmet. Please submit this Chapter to the Tabula Astartes and the 1,000 Chapter Gallery Project. The idea im going for is that the Iron Lions are trusted less (compared to other Unforgiven) due to their ties with the Mechanicum. At the moment im playing with the idea of the truth as the chapter master knows it is a lesser truth, and the only reason the arbiter is indoctrinated into a higher level is because of interrogations, they need to know more. This is all very fluid and a wip. The Master of the Legion is the true leader. The Grand Arbiter is there to guide him or influence his decisions in terms of the Hunt, but would not overrule him. honestly, thank you for poking holes in my DIY. this is what i need to make the chapter better. jbaeza94
[imageright][/imageright]I just noticed that the image has some funky things going on, and I'm not sure if they're on purpose. This was intentional. Being the chapter is split in two, a red half and a black half, i tried to find a way to represent this. I also tried adding a gif that would alternate between the two images but i couldnt get it to work. Adding 2 pictures side by side looked too cluttered. Ill look into other ideas. Edit: i added a top and bottom, seems to work well enough Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/353770-ia-legion-of-the-iron-lions-lasc-2019/#findComment-5262152 Share on other sites
Brother Tyler
Yes, showing the different color schemes for the different cohorts as two separate images is much better. The Grand Arbiter is there to guide him or influence his decisions in terms of the Hunt, but would not overrule him.To avoid confusion, how about having Iron Lions officers enter the Chaplaincy, and receive full indoctrination on the Dark Angels' secrets, BEFORE they may be promoted to the positions of 1st or 2nd Centurion? The Master of the Legion would thus be a Grand Arbiter promoted to the rank necessary to lead the entire Chapter. To emphasize this path of ascension, the Grand Arbiter should also serve as the Silver Bulls or Bronze Eagles' commander.honestly, thank you for poking holes in my DIY. this is what i need to make the chapter better.I'm glad to be of help. jbaeza94
I really like your ideas Bjorn. I did some rework. let me know what you think. here is how a chain of command could work Legion Command Master of the Legion -Grand Arbiter -Librarius Cohort Leonus Command 1st Century 1st Centurion -1st Arbiter -2 1st Century Lieutenants -70 Veterans -30 Knights *1st Century serves as both Deathwing and Ravenwing. Knights deploy as Deathwing Knights or Black Knights, mission dictating. 2-6th Century Centurion -Arbiter -2 Lieutenants -10 Veterans -90 Space Marines -Varying number of Aspirants and Neophytes Cohort Ferrus Command 1st Century 1st Centurion -1st Arbiter -2 1st Century Lieutenants -80 Veterans -20 Knights *1st Century deploy exclusively in Gravis Armor as Aggressors or Inceptors. Knights bear the Mace of Absolution and Storm Shield into battle, or the Spears of Liamane and jump packs into battle. The 1st Century is responsible for the hunt in Cohort Ferrus. (things will change as new models are released) 2-6th Century Centurion -Arbiter -2 Lieutenants -10 Veterans -90 Primaris Marines -Varying number of Aspirants and Neophytes 7th Century Centurion of the Vanguard -Arbiter -2 Lieutenants -10 Veterans -90 Primaris Marines *All Lieutenants are drawn from 1st Century Knights *Centurions are brought into the chaplaincy by their Arbiter upon ascension from Lieutenant. They do not bear the title of Arbiter. *Arbiters are second in command to the Centurion. They lead in his stead until a successor is appointed. *When the Master of the Legion falls, the Grand Arbiter appoints the new Master of the Legion from one of the two First Centurions of Cohort Ferrus or Leonus. *When the Grand Arbiter falls, the Master of the Legion appoints the new Grand Arbiter from one of the two First Arbiters of Cohort Ferrus or Leonus. *Fallen knowledge by order of succession is as follows - Master of the Legion=Grand Arbiter > First Centurion=First Arbiter > Arbiter > Centurion > 1st Century Lieutenant > Lieutenant > Knight > First Century Veteran *Fallen knowledge of the Master of the Legion/Grand Arbiter is roughly equal to that of Belail and Sammael of the Dark Angels. *Only 3 Arbiters perform interrogations. The Grand Arbiter, the First Arbiter of Cohort Ferrus, and the First Arbiter of Cohort Leonus. They are the Interrogator Chaplains. *Each Century trains its own Marines, except for the 1st Century of both Cohorts and the 7th Century of Cohort Ferrus. Bjorn Firewalker
So the Iron Lions have 13 Centuries in total, with six under Cohort Leonus, and seven under Cohort Ferrus? Hope Guilliman won't raise objections to a possible violation of the Codex Astartes. To avoid confusion, how about organizing all odd numbered Centuries under one Cohort, and all even numbered Centuries under the other? If there are two "1st Centuries," two "2nd Centuries," etc., how will the AdMech know which one is supposed to receive the arms, armor, and vehicles it crafts? jbaeza94
Yes, 13 Centuries is correct. probably around 1350 Marines at full capacity (including tech marines, apothecaries, and all officers). i know its not codex compliant. its a bit larger. originally it was 960 not counting officers. when i first conceived the idea, it was 12 companies with 80 marines. as time went one, i decided to dial the uniqueness back and standardize some things. in the end that eft me with ~1200 marines. With the vanguard, thats a fairly new addition that im toying with. as i understand it, guilliman ordered another 100 vanguard be ready for every chapter, essentially plusing up chapters to 1100 minus officers. i might make the last century a vanguard company or add the 7th century. The idea was a chapter that could operate as 2 individual units (almost sub chapters) when it needs to, or come together as one giant force. they would be designed in a way where they would be self sustaining, hence the cohorts being almost exact mirrors of each other. i do see where you are coming from though with the century numbering. its not a bad idea. I assumed them being different cohorts would be enough to differentiate. But it appears its not thanks for the input Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/353770-ia-legion-of-the-iron-lions-lasc-2019/#findComment-5296834 Share on other sites
jbaeza94
New changes reflected in 1st post. they are as follows: Finalized force organization, created custom force org chart. went with 12 companies instead of 13, the 6th each being a vanguard company (a sneaky company). created the Legion Guard, the Honour Guard of Razgrizconsist of a champion (Spear of Liamane), banner bearer (ancient of the legion), apothecary (warden of razgriz), a sgt (the revenant, a personal title, only primaris marine in honour guard), and a techmarine (the Crilian, a personal title. was born on Forgeworld Crilia, used different naming conventions) Established naming conventions for both Invictumos and Crilia Renamed Iron Bulls and Bronze Eagles to Iron Wing and Lion Wing, in homage to the Deathwing/Ravenwing. color scheme will be standard chapter scheme, with a silver or bronze shoulder respectively, on the side of the chapter badge. Officially named 1st and 2nd centurion/arbiter Created Chief Apothecary and Master of Machines (master of the forge) added image of Razgriz finishing off an ork Renamed Forgeworld Triatrii to Crilia. Triatrii is just too hard of a word. Next step: create ranking system for sgt's, lt's, and centurions expand legion and the unforgiven section expand on Iron/Lion Wing organization and roles Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/353770-ia-legion-of-the-iron-lions-lasc-2019/#findComment-5339566 Share on other sites
Messor
Quite a cool Chapter; I haven't read a lot of Dark Angel successor DIYs. The effort and thought put into it definitely shows. I enjoyed the short story as well; I saw that it still has the old names for the Bulls (if it refers to the same entity; the story says Silver, but your update says Iron). Whichever the case, some clarification there would be good. Yeah, it should now be Lion Guard in that particular story. i forgot to go back and make the changes. thanks for the pointing it out! but thanks for the feedback! i appreciate it! edit: after rereading, a few things needed to change to make more sense. fluff has gone through a huge change over the last month.
