Orkdeptus Mekanicuz: praise the Orkyssiah

I know I'm not the only person that thought of "what if Orks decided to imitate Techpriests, what with all their new vehicles", because I saw the Regimental Standard (finest source of news in the history of ever) publish this:

Personal story time - we were introducing a friend to 40k during 7th ed and I played him using a small but typical Ork force, a Boyz in Trukks list. Since Trukks blew up so easily, he pointed out that the most important person in the Ork army isn't the Warboss, but whoever it is that fixes the Trukks between games. I thoroughly agreed.

And so I painted up my own Mekpriest, here with his own ServitORK:

I'll be running him as Blood Axe (personal preference, it's my Ork Clan going all the way back to 1st ed) in a Blitz Brigade Specialist Detachment from Vigilis. Here's 500 points that I'll be experimenting with, mostly from old Black Reach models and a converted Land Raider. UPDATE - I tried this Blood Axe Blitz Brigade setup, gameplay-wise it's not very good and, more importantly, actually doesn't feel that close to the theme. At least for my part, I'll really be evolving my list to be more tech-centric.

And on that note, just to be clear I'm not sitting on this idea, I'm just starting a thread on a concept many have had before so everyone can join in. Mine was just my take, a personal proof-of-concept! All are welcome!

Hey Ladz, I haz an Idear.

Actually, my very active player/tourney friend gave it to me from an army he saw played, but very relevant here.  It's practically an all Vehicles list, 1000 pts, 2 detachments:

Outrider (Fast Attack) Detachment: Mekpriezt on Bike, 3 x Megatrakk Scrapjet

Spearhead (Heavy Support) Detachment: Warboss on Wartrike, 3 x Deff Dreads

Clan: probably Snakebitez actually

How it works - all units move together like a giant vehicular mob.  The Mekpriezt brings a Kustom Force Field to give the invuln save and occasionally fixes things.  Scrapjets bring the dakka, but can also give some close combat support.  Deff Dreads mainly bring close combat support, but also deliver some dakka along the way.  The Warboss on Wartrike mainly brings the SpeedWaaagh special rule for the Deff Dreads while being very choppy himself.  The Snakebite culture rule gives them an Iron Hands like Feel No Pain save.

Why choose this - for the conversion possibilities.  I'm thinking I'll buy just actual 1 Scrapjet and 1 Deff Dread, equipped how I would all the others.  Then all the other Vehicles are conversions with the same setup as those ones rules-wise.  Even the Warboss on Wartrike I'm thinking to convert from a Kataphron Breacher body.

Minor Update - I noticed Ambots would be really good for Deff Dread conversions, now that they're about to be available.

On that final point, thanks for your feedback on the ServitOrk.  That was an experiment...I guess it's something I'll probably use.
