Any chance that the GW page will feature Solar War's hardback version, as well?

BL doesn't seem to accept my German address.

Forget it, German GW site was updated a few moments ago.

*edit no 2*

Wait a sec...hardback is sold out, as well? O.o Is that possible? Thought we were talking about the LE... damn. Well, luckily the German softback will be released next month. :)

Hey everyone,

I’ve almost always waited to get books from my local Chapters Indigo (Canadian here) but I’m fairly eager to get my hands on this. I’ve never ordered through black library and when I try to pre order from Chapters Indigo it says November 2019 is the publish date (...) and gives no indication regarding delivery.

Any Canadians out there have any insight ordering from BL directly, or have an idea on just how long after publishing it takes to hit local stores?

Do you want paperback or hardback?

The hardback is available right now for pre-order on BL site (but if you want a free delivery your order should be >$50CAD, so grab something else). I'm not sure but it seems like Chapters is not gonna sell hardback edition.

Paperback is not available right now, but they gonna release it later (October/November, perhaps), at the same time on Amazon, Chapters Indigo, BL, etc.

P.S. By the way, you could get some books not distributed through Chapters at local hobby shops, I would recommend meeplemart or GW store (if you live in Toronto).

I preordered the iBook version and it’s not downloading at all been trying for ages! Can’t wait to read. Anyone else had problems with it today?

Just did a live chat with audible.co.uk, it's an internal issue apparently, and they're working on it. :huh.: :censored:

So is Jubal Terran or Chogorian? In Warhawk, a big deal is made of Jubal as he is a Terran recruit who looks, acts, and sounds like a Chogorian...but in Solar War, Jubal receives a Chogorian blade from his father. So unless his father is a Terran collector of off-world blades, this is a rather glaring error.

Changshi took the knife, looking at it, the reflection of the crescent blade caught in his grey eyes. It was a beautiful weapon, made on Chogoris and fitted with a power field generator by the Legion smiths. It had been Jubal’s father’s, given to him when he left his family and his humanity behind. Now the young warrior, who bore a Chogorian name but had never seen its skies, looked at it and realisation formed in his eyes.

you don’t even need that so much as a sharp editor

Funny... everyone knows Black Library doesn't have editors, or proof readers for that matter.

Nor Forge World, unfortunately. Re-reading the Badab War books, I cringe whenever I see two sentences that should have been one with a comma or semi-colon, or the use of 'raise' instead of 'raze', to use just two examples. That kind of sloppy work for such high-priced books - especially when you're paying the 'Australia Tax' - convinced me not to buy Forge World tomes again. Most of it can be found on Warhammer 40k wiki or Lexicanum, and on most Lexi articles at least somebody knows how to spell and use proper grammar.

That said, I haven't noticed too many glaring problems in HH novels so far, so I'm keen to give The Solar War a go once I'm finished the current series I'm reading.

A glaring error at first glance indeed. But it is possible that Jubal's father was assigned to the fleet which made first contact with Chogoris, stayed on the planet as part of the Compliance team or such, and forged strong ties with the locals before returning to Terra. From those links Terran-born Jubal ended up in the V Legion and was able to integrate so easily with his Chogorian counterparts.

Not the most likely thing to happen in the universe, but not impossible either.

Maybe it'll grow on me with a reread or three, but initially...too disjointed for me to take much pleasure in reading it. That and French's penchant to smoosh what I consider to be a series of 'cool 40k wordclouds' into the narrative really diminished it in my eyes. I know I'll be in the minuscule minority with this view though, what with French having a large fanbase here.

I think that the reason I didn't really like this is the same reason I went about 20-30 pages into Horusian Wars: Resurrection, yawned and closed that e-book and forgot about it. Tried to soldier through Solar War because it's not a side-series with little impact on any of the stories that I want told.

I have noticed strange thing about Prison Ship:

When Oliton escaped her cell navigator she met said

We are in a sub-level two decks down from a hangar bay. I can get us there.

So, they should move upwards to get to the hangar bay. But  elevator moves downwards:

......The floor under her feet lurched and began to slide downwards......... He dropped onto the descending platform beside her....... hoist juddered down through the dark. The shuttle was there when they reached the bottom.

Maybe I misunderstand something (English is not my native), but it looks like author`s mistake...
