Those in the Australian outback have had a chance to buy for hours now.... ggggrrrrr. Isn’t sold out on their site yet. I thought they might have increased the numbers available but looks like it’s still stuck at 2500.

It mentions a fold out map, I wonder is this a new one or the same map from solar war?

Not for nothing, but Australia's slightly more urbanised than the United Kingdom. Very few people live in "the Outback", so that's a bit of a tired stereotype.

I’m a farmer and I’ve a few relatives living in Australia who are also farmers. So I live in the (green) outback they live in the (brown) outback. You can keep your urban centres, regardless of which landmass they rise up from. Long live the proud outbackers!

I know it’s such a petty thing to be concerned about, but the artwork for the cover really makes me hope Rogal Dorn, brilliant builder of fortresses, didn’t honestly decide that the best way to stop the traitor legions is a single ditch in the ground manned by auxiliaries packed shoulder to shoulder all the way around the palace. I am hoping it’s some serious trenchworks and massive curtain walls in front of the high walls around the palace.

It could be worse; they could be standing in front of the trench.

I like the artwork it looks nice.

My only nitpick is the Imperial Army in the trench. Hopefully someone will point it out for me but when did the Imperial Army start looking like Cadian army? I always associated that look with Cadians and it looks weird to me that they're fighting in the trenches on terra in 30k.

Now this is just a nitpick other than that the artwork looks nice.

This is amazing I’m super excited to have a story on normal human soldiers. This for me was the missing piece from the heresy. Relating to the life of humans is what makes 40k fiction work for me. I really hope this isn’t the last we see of human characters in this series. I doubt any of them will last too long though. I hope when the dust settles after the traitors retreat we get at least a chapter describing the devastation of the human population from a surviving citizens viewpoint.

I like the artwork it looks nice.

Who says the armour used by Cadian's isn't a readily available STC used by regiments across the galaxy?

Sounds like a generic and easy enough reason to explain it. Solar Auxilia would have looked better but oh well.

It might be a device to show us the decline of the Imperium since the Heresy; they could be poorly equipped conscripts using cobbled together substandard armour in the same way that we had marines complaining about the shoddy nature of Thunderhawks at the start of the series.

Another farmer on the board or did Punishing Peter changes his username?

Punishing Pete reporting for duty. Hated that name and availed of the recent opportunity to change username. Kind of regretted it...

Only one 40k farmer that I know of, so I have to delve into the dirty cities to roll some dice!

Solar Auxilia were a big old fraction - I think a quarter of mortal troops were organised in that way before the Heresy - but they were right in the middle of the early Heresy, and that was probably also before we got to the huge conscript armies (huge as in take the population of entire worlds and arm them) raised by both sides.

The Excertus Imperialis is divided into three organizations:

Solar Auxilia

Imperialis Auxilia

Imperialis Militia

In the Mechanicus you have three roughly equivalent formations:

Skitarius/Secutarius

Secularis Tech-Guard

Adsecularis Tech-Thralls

Additionally, you've got the private armies of the rogue traders called Conquaestors, the Pioneer Corps, Naval Armsmen and Landing Forces, and the paramilitary of the various Lords like Malcador.

And PFD troops as well - though we'll only see them on Terra if they've been requisitioned or salvaged from elsewhere.

They fall under 'Imperialis Militia'. PDF doesnt exist in 30k. Its just the Third Tier of the Excertus Imperialis.

I was able to order in the US. Am definitely excited for this one for a few reasons:

1. Some Dorn and Perturabo stuff: The first book had some really nice art work of these two primarchs and while they probably won't directly face off against each other, I am sure there will be some good stuff related indirectly since it will be Perturabo breaking the defenses laid out by Dorn. Haley def can write Perturabo with his Primarch book which was one of the strongest in that series so looking forward to this

2. Human element: I am glad we will get some "basic humies" interaction. I think Haley does it very well. His human characters in Pharos and the Dark Imperium is some of the best to me and brings that element across very well

3. Titan Death: So looking forward to seeing the Great mother (or the daughter who took over). I recently read this book and really enjoyed the book and glad to see this book continue with this character.

4. Angron and Sangy: Probably what most people are looking forward to the most...I don't recall if these two actually clash or just yell at each other prior to the seige but either way I am sure it will be well done.

After I got the LE for the first book, I was undecided if I was going to get all 8...80 dollars a book for eight books is not cheap! I was going to initially do the first and last as LE but I really like Haley so ended up getting. I think the third one is from Gav so may skip that one as a LE. I am sure French and Haley will get a second book to do (If i remember the math is such that two of the authors will get to do a second one). In the end I may have to get them all as LE...hard to say no to ABD, Wraight, abnett, etc...

Ah, I didn't realise that.

All this talk of people dipping in and out of the limited eds, has me nervous. BL should at the very least allow you to sign up to the whole series, I would have paid a premium to make sure I could buy into the series. If I miss out on one because it’s more popular I wont be a happy boy at all. They will know the people who have purchased the first two. It would be easy to offer them a guarantee. Otherwise an ADB or Abnett book will catch the collectors out.

They won't do that though, because simply put, they don't care.

Their sole objective is to sell these copies and they sell out so fast, they don't really care who it goes to and if some people have incomplete collections.

What has me curious is why they haven't decided to upgrade the limited edtition run to say 5,000, given the immense popularity. That too would be sold out in 48 hours I am sure.
