Iron Hands primaris ETL WIP thread.

Taking a propper break from painting white and wanting something easier i decided to go safe for the ETL and paint ...Black, over a light grey primer because why not. ~

 

So that being said its time to get my self ready to dive head first into the Iron 10th. 

First up is my test mini using the following method.

Light grey Primer

Dark brown base coat

Sponged lighter brown

Sponged Lighter brown/yellow (XV88)

Varnished layer

hairspray

Black

Oxford blue

chipping with a wetbrush

slight edge highlights with oxfordblue.

Lots of weathering powders.

 

 

so i pickedup shadow spear and built 10 infiltrators, a LT, three emilinators, and the first suppressor (god emperor i hate this gys)

You mean "battered." I doubt a loyal Iron Hand will yield to an enemy of the Imperium- to let himself be "beaten," i.e., defeated- unless he lies dead at his enemy's feet- and considering the existence of Dreadnoughts, not even that may suffice.

Looks the goods! I'm quite a fan of a heavily weathered marine.  I'd love to see a step by step on this with photos at each stage if you've got the time.

im thinking of doing another test mini so il take some pics.

Think i went a tad too far witht he oxford blue on this so il wash it down with some black.

Second test mini really isn't coming out as well as the first :(

Test mini is done, think il stick with using the FW weathering powder as i like the brighter orange.

Man i am not a fan of GWs new design ethos, these fixed poses are not the easiest to get to with a sponge or to weather. but i persist as the 10th must.

Little updates, im having to go back over and edge highlight the areas of flaking paint, then make the rusty orrange stand out more.

First infiltrator is done, I shall wait to varnish them as a group. I also may add decals depends how I feel.

I like the way you painted him, but are the indigo lines meant to be highlights, wearing, or part of an urban warfare camouflage pattern?

highlights to the black armour, they will be dulled down with a few washes. :)
