+++IMPERIAL AGENTS OUTPOST+++

gallery_48988_15465_12009.png

Welcome to the Imperial Agents Outpost. Imperial Agents belong to the “Forces of the Imperium (IFOR)” Faction.

HERE IS WHERE YOU MUST POST YOUR VOWS

Here you must also post your “before” and “after” pics of your vows as well as any WIP you may want to share. You may also use this thread to discuss the progress of the event with your fellow participants, exchange ideas, offer and receive modelling/painting advice and generally have some ETL–related fun!

Here you’ll be able to submit vows that include the following units:
· Codex: Adeptus Custodes
· Forge World Adeptus Custodes Datasheets (pdf)
· Codex: Imperial Knights
· White Dwarf March 2019 Issue: Officio Assasinorum
· Index Imperium 2:

o All units from the Adeptus Astra Telepathica list

o All units from the Inquisition list

o All units from the Fortifications list

· Imperial Armour Index – Forces of the Space Marines:

o All units with the “Inquisition” keyword

· Imperial Armour Index – Forces of the Astra Militarum:

o All units from the Questor Imperialis list

o All units from the Adeptus Titanicus list

IMPORTANT NOTE: THE MIGHT OF THE IMPERIUM
As mentioned in the main rules, participants who pledge for Imperial Agents will also have the option to pledge units that correspond to any other IFOR Forum as well! However, the units pledged from other IFOR Forums may never be more than the units selected from the list above.

IMPORTANT NOTE: ALWAYS USE THE LATEST PUBLICATION TO SELECT AND PRICE YOUR UNITS
Army lists are constantly updated through a number of publications: new Codices, Chapter Approved, White Dwarf, Forge World PDFs (even experimental ones), Errata, you name it. You must always make sure that you use the most recent list to “price” your units.

That said, the original Indices that were released at the dawn of the 40k 8thEdition, in some cases contain units that did not make it to the Codex (or any subsequent publication). In that case you may still use them and “price” them from the Index list. Note that this applies ONLY to the units that did not make it to the Codex. You may not use the Index to “price” units that appear in the Codex or any later publication. If in doubt, contact me to avoid confusion.

Before you post you vow make sure you familiarise yourself with the ETL VII rules. You can find a link below:

THE RULES OF ETL VII CAN BE FOUND HERE

Also, please take the time to go through the Spirit of the ETL to give you an insight of the “unwritten” rules. You can find the link below:

I, Kenzaburo, rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX on the side of the Agents of the Imperium and vow to complete: one Allarus Custodian Squad of 3 Terminators, armed with Castellan Axes, Ballistus Grenade Launchers and Misericorda, for a total value of 264 Points on or before September 1st, 2019. Success will bring me eternal glory and failure will doom me to wear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the year-end.

Terminators are basecoated in Retributor Gold or whatever the spray can gold from GW is called.

EDIT: Will have to check how to post pictures on the B&C, can't remember how to do it right.^^

I, librisrouge, rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX on the side of the Agents of the Imperium and vow to complete: 3 Jokaero Weaponsmith, for a total value of 114 Points on or before September 1st, 2019. Success will bring me eternal glory and failure will doom me to wear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the year-end.

I'll consider doing those acolytes in the back after this.

Excellent! As the only Custode currently in B&C, I have a soft spot for Adeptus Custodes... And everybody loves the Jokaeros!

Good luck guys and let's see more Agents join! :tu:

UPDATED TO THIS POINT!

Captain Semper, I guess, the Liber is open to us, too, right? You didn't post it here, but I saw it in the other outposts.

On a different note: I'm currently washing the Allerus to get some definition on the gold, will post some pictures later this week. I hope to be done with the gold by next monday. Would love to get the Terminators done before the deadline (I'm a really slow painter) to get some more points for IFOR - maybe Greyfax. Although I'm not sure if Greyfax has her points listed anywhere besides the 2nd Index.

Otherwise I might go for a Shield Captain.

Alright, here's a first update. I got the gold armor washed and am now in the early highlighting stages:

And because gold is a bit tricky to photograph without proper lighting set up, here's a reference pic from my instagram account of my Test-Custodes, how it is supposed to look in the end:

I really hope that posting the images has worked this time around. :smile.:

EDIT: Okay, images are now giant-sized. Can anyone explain to me what the best way to post pictures is?

Also, glueing the axes will prove a problem later on, it seems...oh well.

Nice gold! So now I see shading with Nuln Oil (or some other black wash), but the finished models has a brown-reddish tint. What are your next steps?

Thank you. Actually there's quite a lot of washing steps involved - what you see now, for example, is not just a mini washed with nuln oil. I started with Retributor Gold as a primer, than drybrushed some Elven Gold from Scale Color over it, than a light drybrush of Citrine Alchemy from Scale. That way I get a minor gradient for the lighter areas already.

I then washed the entire mini with Agrax Earthshade Gloss and after that is dry, some Reikland Fleshshade Gloss. Those two help define the details and add a first reddish brown shade to the recesses. After that, I go for a diluted mix of Nuln Oil and standard Agrax Earthshade to enhance contrast in the darker areas.

Now I'm in the highlighting process with Scale Color Golds (Dwarven Gold, Mix of Dwarven and Elven Gold, then some Elven Gold/Citrine Alchemy highlights and a final step of edge highlights with a mix of Elven Gold, Citrine Alchemy and Speed Metal). After all that is done, I'll do two last glazes, to tie it all together - with a mix of Agrax and Reikland and for the darkest areas a tiny dot of Nuln mixed in.

Sounds like a lot of work, but it's only washes, so it's done pretty fast. :smile.:

Edit: The red tint stems from the Reikland Fleshshade, but is enhanced more by the pretty bright highlights.

If I wanted to shorten the process, I'd probably cut out the drybrushing, do only the first washes and maybe 2 highlights and done. That's more than enough for pretty good tabletop standard (although what that means always depends on your personal standards, I guess^^).

I'm trying to decide whether to vow here, my forum of eternal choice and my true home fluff wise, or to vow in the Guard forum, since every model I need to paint for the ATC this year fits into that forum perfectly.

On the one hand, I will feel like I am betraying my 40k roots not pledging here, but if I do, I will have to vow like 15 extra units, lol.

Help me decide!

Exactly. The IFOR Faction enjoys this unique feature - quoting straight from the rules:

IMPORTANT NOTE: THE MIGHT OF THE IMPERIUM

Participants who pledge for any IFOR Forum (called: “Forum of Preference”) will also have the option to pledge units that correspond to any other IFOR Forum. However, the units from other IFOR Forums may never be more than the units stemming from the Forum of Preference. It goes without saying that participants may never change their Forum of Preference and all the points of all their vows will count towards the total of the Forum of Preference (i.e. will NOT split points between Forums on a per unit basis).

EXAMPLE:

Participant A chooses the Astra Militarum as his Forum of Preference and pledges a Leman Russ. He also wants to pledge a unit of Custodes and promptly adds a unit of Custodian Guard in his vow. Now he also wants to pledge a unit of Adeptus Mechanicus Sicarian Runestalkers. He may not do that unless he adds another unit from the Astra Militarum. So Participant A adds to his vow a Heavy Weapons Squad (from the Astra Militarum Codex) and then he’s free to add the Runsestalkers too. However, all the points of this and any subsequent vow will count towards the Astra Militarum Forum (and by extension to the IFOR Faction of course).

I hope the above helps! :)

Oh don't worry, I know how that feature works.  My decision is based on whether I want to commit to painting even more models within the ETL timeframe than I already have to paint.  I will have to if I want to pledge for the Agents, since what I have to paint is Guard+Knights, so I'd have to add some Acolytes and so far to pledge here.
