Codex: Space Marines 2.0 speculation & discussion

It's a little big of an exaggeration for 2 Intercessor Sergeants to give out more attacks than a Terminator squad, but only a little! 8 vs 11 attacks basically, though the gap widens as the Shock Assault ability takes effect. (10 vs 16)

However, I strongly think that a 2 Intercessor squads with Thunder Hammer Sergeants will be a main stay in Impulsors. It's amazingly good especially when you start throwing in Relics like the Ultramarines have access to, which increase the numbers of attacks.

Did I miss something or since when are Intercessors Sergeants A4 base? Afaik they are still A3.

And veteran intercessor sergeants are A4 base, 5 on the charge

Ah, Veteran Intercessors! That's what I was missing! ^^
I really like that the Impulsor can only Transport 6 regular Primaris, it makes sure the regular Repulsor retains a role, even with the introduction of the Executioner.. all three tanks have distinct purposes. (Although it probably solidifies that only Standard Hellblasters will ever see the table)

I've used them a couple of times in 8th and they did decent work against chaff where their mobility and flamers came in handy but that's not exactly setting the World on fire (flamers aside).

I've put in my pre-order for the codex and cards, I'm looking forward to trying it out as soon as I can because there's a lot that I find encouraging (also for when something similar comes to CSM). With a point drop and some Stratagems worth a damn (or, just worth anything?) I'll be trying my Assault Marines out again to see what they can do :smile.:

It's possible one of the Devastator Doctrine focused Chapters might find value from them in their supplement.

I imagine any chapter with a bonus to Devastator Doctrine or Tactical Doctrine is going to outperform those with an Assault Doctrine ability for right now.

The main issue for Assault Doctrine is the delay in getting to it. Turn 3 is a long time to wait until!

There's always the opportunity for a strat that allows you to push forward one step early, or allow one unit to count as being under Assault Doctrine for a turn.

Indeed there are ways around it. Even White Scars that will have a heavy assault focus will have units that use heavy weapons in a flexible list. Their Chapter Tactic specifically helps with that.

So with Strategums and a bit of flexible list building I think those that use the Assault Doctrine heavily will do fine.

Besides, Twin Bolter bikers and their special weapons will still enjoy the Tactical Doctrine.

So will terminators :D

Nothing pushes you through them faster, though there is a strat that lets you step backward through them once a game.

It’s going to be nice to see all the different chapters getting used.

Will we be seeing a return of the unit tactics thread here in the B&C?

I'd be glad to do that again, though I think I will probably combine multiple entries because there are so many

I'm aware. But there's also a bunch of supplements coming with more strats we haven't seen yet.

The moment I get the Codex in my mitts this weekend I'll be creating some topics in the Ultramarines section too, so it is a golden age.

Why in the ultramarine section? These are space marines available to all chapters.

Because he's an Ultramarine player and things like Scions of Guilliman change things a lot?

Exactly that. Relics, Warlord Traits, psychic powers, Strategums, Scions of Guilliman... plenty to discuss.

And I'm sure I'll be there in this forum talking over stuff as well. Like now.

1 day to go... Ah!
