Ah, that makes a lot of sense. Although I can't really talk, having an Emperor, Mars, and Dictator.

I have one of the Ork battleships, which I bought when GW were discontinuing the Specialist Games lines because it would've been rude not to. I'm not a massive fan of it, but I'm glad that I've got it, if that makes sense. For me, they look better as raiders (and I really love that theme).

Cheers ZeroWolf! :)

Fresh from the void-docks today, painted over two days: cruisers Abyss of Pain, Echoes of Tragedy & Unholy Warcry, light cruisers Crystal Moonlight & Flash of the Blade as well as the escort squadron In Tenebris sail out.

As always, your little ships are gorgeous.

I've always wished that GW hadn't made the chaos warships with so much cross detailing on their prows - it would have been nice if they had left more flat surfaces there to allow for presentation of larger pieces of colour, like the imperial warships have.  So, I really like the red you have on the prows of the "chaos" ships, I just wish GW's details didn't get in the way of there being more of it there.

Thanks doc.

It's certainly true that many BFG ships are designed for easy drybrushing and are thus covered in ridges and trim, eating up the space that could otherwise be used for larger panels and plates. The traditional method is of course to prime the whole thing in bold colours and brush a metallic trim on, but eh ;P

In all honesty, I've seen some fan designs that have larger surfaces like that and there's something off about them. Ships need a good amount of nooks, crannies and high gothic arches all over to fit in the mental landscape I've managed to cultivate in my head.

Cheer @Firedrake Cordova, hopefully the pace can continue this year :)

1200 points Fleet Engagement, the Imperial wedge smashed into a Chaos pirates' encircling trap but eventually battered their way through with the Dauntless squadrons relentlessly staying in the maneuver game until the very end.

Some fun photographs! I loved Dauntless Light Cruisers, they sure were glass cannons but they provided the Imperial Navy with some much-needed mobility.

The mobility is great, especially against an escort swarm that is even more fragile than they are :D

At the end, as the Chaos fleet tried to prolong their fate (since disengaging would only have sealed their already losing situation), we basically had three nearly-crippled Dauntlesses rolling in a merry-go-round with a crippled Devastation cruiser and one Infidel seeing who'd slug the other first for the last time. All the other bigger ships had already been hulked or forced to disengage in flames.

Thanks @Firedrake Cordova!

They're a bit quick and dirty, basically one afternoon job, but I'm trying to spit out more stuff this year to actually get somewhere with my armies rather than fiddling endlessly with half a dozen models :D

Had to test them too, sooo...

E:A, 3k GT. The armoured battalion took to the field under their new commander, who immediately sank to the bottom of a toxic swamp under enemy fire. Despite the Dark Mechanicus commander getting unceremoniously crushed under Baneblade treads with their whole terminator retinue, the Guard tanks faltered in their deployment area without proper leadership to drive them onwards and the day was ultimately carried by the machine-beasts of Chaos.

Wow... that's attention to detail.  Your tiny tanks never cease to delight.

That said, as a perennial chaos player, I was contractually obliged to cheer over the victory of the mini-iest minions of chaos.

I'll get them next time, if my Guard could finally muster up the ability to succeed in a 2+ roll at least half of the times... :P
