Just ordered the paints I need to paint my titans as Legio Fureans. This is fairly significant for me as it puts me a step closer to painting them (which is pretty unheard of for me) and also means I’ve made a decision on which legio to go with, which is also a big step for me!

Well done! And good luck, if you want any pointers or advice on how to do Fureans, there are plenty of us who have already gone through the pain of figuring out our preferred options for yellow, so feel free to ask!

Thanks! I’m gonna be following the guide from the Goonhammer Fureans article, for a bit more of a darker mustard yellow:

Also managed to snag some Fureans transfers for a decent price.

You mean a work in progress thread?

No, I mean have you found it fun rewarding experience, or just a ball ache?

I'm on the fence about buying a big titan (when FW has 'em back in stock), just for something "impressive" to make. But it'll only ever be to sit in my cabinet as I don't play 40k.

Personally, I enjoy building the big Titans a lot. This Reaver is the third Titan I built. Cleaning the resin and fixing gaps is tedious, and you may need another pair of hands when you assemble some parts (especially the legs), but once the engine stands on its own, it feels very rewarding. Also, those big armour panels offer plenty of opportunity for decal work or freehands.

As for the 'sitting in the cabinet' part: mine get out to play once, maybe twice per year, so they sit and wait a lot. And look glorious while doing so!

I do occasionally feel tempted to get a big titan. So far I've managed not to succumb, but I'm not sure that can last forever. That said, I actually think most of them look better at AT scale, so it's not high up my list to get a big one. I feel like some of them kind of show their age at full size - they're really quite old models after all.

Each to their own though. I've spent several times the cost of a titan on plastic, between all the different game systems, so I can't criticise the outlay.

Just spent three hours basecoating the trim on a *single* Warlord foot

Full size right? Please. I had today set aside for trim painting on my AT one!

'Fraid not   - I am a huge perfectionist though, so my experience might be on the extremes of how long it takes

I think so, so far I have basecoated the trim on:

The top

Shoulders

Apocs

Tilt shields

Chest armour

Groin panel

One thigh

Head

I'm not especially tidy, so I aim to hide my messiness with the recess wash.

Yeah, the feet do seem especially fiddly to do given that there are multiple tiny areas of plate surrounded by trim, once they're done I should be able to get the rest done relatively quickly

My self sworn oath to finish my AT force before Indomitus drops took a big step forward today. All of the trim on the Warlord was based. In a day. I am knackered.

While waiting for Ryza, it's time to play more Epic and AT. Loaned one of my Reavers for a fellow club member, though it did not save his Krieg line from an absolute battering by my Death Guard :biggrin.:

Things got bloody fast on this pretty dense table, as we both garrisoned the craters in the middle, his aircover was stuffing their faces with doughnuts at the aerodome while my terminators were dropping down fists first through his armoured units, titans struggled to find lines of fire and his line could not find the heart to regroup after first attrition started to rain in. Must try to field a full on Titan Legio list one of these days while drumming up more interest for 6 mm games in the community.

Hard times, unconventional choices. Nothing too strange in that happening in the lore, while tabletop is restricted for gaming reasons. It's not like there weren't Americans and Germans fighting on the same side against SS-troops in the second world war too (castle Itter incident, it's a pretty hilarious affair) while you wouldn't see that in a normal game :D
