Cheers @Torbenos! It was definitely nice to get a change in the painting, all that black can get a bit samey! It was fun to experiment with transfers too and I think the numbers are quite fitting for inducted automata/machine slaves!

Thank you very much @Doghouse! I had a tonne of fun working with the Thallax and I'm looking forward to painting some more Mechanicum units. I think I first saw glossy visors on a blog here and knew I would have to borrow the idea some day!

On the desk next whilst I wait on some additional Mechanicum reinforcements is a Moritat to roll with my Immortals, probably rocking a disintegrator and graviton pistol.

And finally I return with painted models! Though my posting has been lacking, the hobby progress has not. Expect to see more updates in the near future. Here's the Moritat, a real pain to get a good photo, but I'm pretty chuffed with the pistol and grenade glow:

@Torbenos Thanks, I agree about mauls, so a Moritat seemed the perfect place for one!

And here's a new member of the volkite heavy support squad. Ten of these chaps now, looking forward to running them and frying some traitor infantry!

Small update today, painted up the Destroyer/Veteran and sharpened up one of the Seekers that featured in the very first post of the log:

Thanks @Brother Dallo! Weird to think that the log is already four years old and that I've been on the board longer since...

Like Astartes Consuls says, the pop of colour from the screen does a lot! I also continue to be impressed with how you paint pale skin, it is something I tend to struggle with. How did you paint the face on the fellow above?

And following on from the Rapier crew, here are some Mechanicum allies to march forth under the watch of the Iron Hands' heavy guns:

Had a lot of fun working with these, Mechanicum sculpts are just so cool. Looking forward to getting them on the table too, either as allies to the legion, or as stupidly tough bullet sponges under a Praevian.

@Astartes Consul Thanks! Doesn't hold up to close inspection, but defo does the job from across the table. It was fun to work with non-armed marines and the screens add some visual interest.

@Torbenos Thanks! I started by using a tutorial from @krakencult.art on Instagram, which uses a pre-coat of green on the areas you'll go on to highlight, and purple in the recesses. This is followed by thinned skin tones. Depending on the tones and colours of skin you want, the green and purple can be switched out for something else. The chap above was done by drybrushing a black basecoat with white, to clearly indicate the shadows. Again this was followed by a thinned skin tone, and then I added darker variations of the same tone to the recesses and a lighter to the highlights.

And now for something that has been bumping around my desk for a good few months - Gorgon Hammer-Bearer. Had a lot of fun with this build and I think the roughness will go down a bit with painting. Only have enough parts for two more and then I'll need to find some more Kataphron armour and Terminator shoulder guards.

Looking lovely! Could they be armed as Morlocks - they are allowed units of 3 I believe?

Last weekend I played a game against the World Eaters and Night Lords of @Johanhgg and the Iron Tenth got fairly stamped down... I learned the hard way that skimping on search lights is a bad idea.

The Immortals move up under sniper fire to support the Leviathan.

Surrounded and immobilised, the Kratos crew are determined to take some of the enemy with them.

The Thallax can't run forever and are butchered by the mob.

@LameBeard Thanks! Yes, I'm planning to run them as a dual use unit, though Morlocks can't take thunder hammers...

Skitarii Axiarch ready to go. Switched the stave for a more brutal maul that gives a real trench-raider feel. Itching to convert a Peltast raiding party to accompany him, or  perhaps servo automata with all their close combat gear and assault bolters...

Here are the Castellax, great fun to build and paint, though they didn't achieve so much in their first outing on the table.
