---===  Through the Ages of History ===---

Occasionally it is interesting to take a look at how marines from various legions looked prior to the Horus Heresy, so I wanted to create a couple more builds with that in mind.

The first is an Imperial Fists legion veteran wearing "new" MKII armor.
This armor bears symbols and a color scheme from the late Unification era - several of the legions in this period started with mostly unpainted armor.

I was going for something similar to the image below:

+++++++++++++++

The second marine is Captain Saervan Velios of the Ultramarines.
He is depicted here during the Crusade Era on an unknown planet at the end of an Imperial Compliance action.

That will do it for today.  Several more Heresy builds are currently on the painting table as usual.

Really nice paint work, always cool to see alternative schemes.

Thanks Pearson, appreciate your feedback!

A fun and varied selection of marines here, all with a lot of character putting them beyond just the usual rank and file marines put in to fill out a tabletop army.

Yea, I definitely enjoy working on the higher-ranking, or specialized marines the most.  I struggle getting the more typical marines completed due to boredom.

The second Iron Hands Legionary is now complete.  I'm going to try to get this entire squad done before going back to my other projects.  Hopefully I won't get distracted along the way.

Love your Iron Hands! How did you paint the bolters and the gold on the shoulder pad?

Hey Strongbow, thanks for the comment!  I try to keep things simple with the paint choices because it can sometimes be a fairly long period between finished models for me.

The gold symbol on the shoulder pad is done with Retributor Gold, then washed 2x with Agrax Earthshade.

The bolters are Averlund Sunset, washed with Fuegan Orange 2x and sometimes a bit of Agrax at the end.

I have another Iron Hands marine almost finished, so that one will be appearing here soon.

There is actually a backstory for these fellows as well, if I can ever get around to recording it properly.

-  Sergeant Bargus Knox  -

It occurred to me that all of the Iron Hands I’ve finished so far have helmets, so I thought it was time to change that.

Thus, here is Sergeant Bargus Knox of Clan Atraxii, with no helmet included!  It’s nice to add another marine to the group.

A few others are (slowly) in progress.

Depicted here during the desperate fighting that occurred in the Auroran Arcology, which was part of the Calth underground war.

Nice work - I like the battle damage on the armour

Thank-you sir.  I've decided that I will never paint a clean Ultramarine, so I think this will be a trend for me.
