I finished it...  The Lupercal. Featuring the icon of a skeletal Nostraman burrowing monoceros, the heraldry of the 8th Legions' 42nd armored. There's a great lore nugget in my thread about the name I thought up, let me know what you all think. Any constructive criticism you can give in regards to the weathering here, or other such painting, please give them!

Saw this over on Facebook...possibly Instagram too, but regardless its a tank that's full of character and really represents the night lords well. I can tell you had a ton of fun with all the weathering and scale modelling techniques too.

As I finish things off my back log I am getting closer and closer to repainting all of my old (2nd ed and up) 40k stuff in my 30k scheme. Only thing I really need to get is a crap ton of 32mm bases because everything is on 25s.

The big question is do I strip or just repaint.

Always strip gotta protect those details. Also with isopropyl being so cheap it's almost a no brainer to strip nowdays. ....must not strip white scars and start again.....

Yeah, I have a gallon already and I have only used a little of it to strip my old metal dreads. I did a quick audit and I need 70ish bases just for special weapons, characters and heavy weapons . Bolter marines I havent counted yet. . .:whistling:  My scouts are going to stay on their 25s because they are all metal and I dont feel like messing with a bunch of metal slottas.

Working on the base for the BA Contemptor.

Almost finished :smile.:

Sir, this is beautiful. Your gradient red is so incredibly popping. Throw a sepia overtone on it and pop it in a Black book. Such a crisp paintjob.

Wow. Very impressive :smile.:

cheers, chaos!

I think it looks great.

Particularly fond of the red warheads on the launcher, makes them "pop".

O-wai-tank-u. I appreciate the words of confidence. The launcher is magnetized. Why? No idea. The Macharius can't even take a 'havoc' launcher, but it can take a seeker. Guess I'll use it as a fire-and-forget and remove the launcher when expended.

Bloody hell. I'm afraid to post anything after that, it will look so pathetic by comparison! :biggrin.:

Mewling little things crushed beneath the mighty tracks of that fearsome looking tank! :smile.:

Mewling. That's a good word... thank you! Please post tho'.

So here's what I've worked on; the giveaway fleet.

It just needs the Murder-class-Cruiser to be printed and painted up (sadly, the sculpters who did these (SoulForgeStudio) haven't gotten around to making 'chaos' ships yet. So i'll settle for ItalianMooses' version over on thingiverse!)

I am in awe of their strike cruisers. So good, with so many different options for prows. Despite having close to 6k points in BattlefleetHeresy for my fleet, I couldn't help but print a few for myself as well, to get to later.

Their Dauntless is amazing. Lovely engines, and the gunports are excellent too. To tie in the gold on the dauntless light cruiser, the Murders' famous chaos-trim will be gold too!

Thank you all, the contest should be going live sometime tonight or tomorrow morning over on my insta, if you want to partake - and perchance win this fleet!

Absolutely beautiful work on those Gothic ships @Hungry Nostraman Lizard  Some of the nicest Gothic ships I have seen.

I've finished a unit of World Eater Destroyers (great crusade era) - added some transports and a Decurion team

Also finished off some Decurion teams for both a standard Terminator detachment and Cyclone Terminator detachment - this is so they both now fit with the new Imperius Dominatus ruleset.

m0nolith: beautiful paintjob on that dreadnought!

Work continues on Gahlan Surlak:

I'm trying to figure what to do with his left shoulder, I managed to save the cables going into his narthecium, but unsure if I should cut them off and replace with other, more poseable, ones that can go under his shoulder plate.

Hi, all! I've decided to get into 30k, and have chosen the Sons of Horus for my Legion. Anyhow, here's the lore of my dudes and a question.

Sons of Horus 16th Company “Venator”

These hard-bitten warriors earned their cognomen for taking part in the extermination of many bestial and savage xenos-broods. Stubborn to a fault, they held onto the trappings of the old Luna Wolves, such as wearing canid pelts, far longer than the rest of the Legion. At the same time, many of its officers were also active in the warrior lodge. Thus, the 16th was considered strongly Horusian by the time of Istvaan III. Hunting their erstwhile brothers down in the ruins of the Choral City, hounding them without rest, the line Astartes and officers alike tore into them like wild animals - earning a new cognomen.

They became the Dogs of War.

Basically, these guys are going to have a "hunter" thing going on in their lore. One unit I wanted to include was Nullificators, as Traitors can take these daemon-hunters in TDA, and I felt they would be thematic. Would it be lore-friendly for these to exist within the Sons of Horus?
Contingency/suspicion. Keep in mind there was often sub-factions within a legion; theres a short story on the conflict between them in the sons of horus as well as it being shown in slaves to darkness. So if your company isnt aligned with say maloghurst and they want to be careful then they'd have some anti daemon stuff just in case.

"As corruption spread through the Sons of Horus, the 16th’s officers were alarmed. Suspicious of daemonic “allies” that had been openly gathered to the Warmaster’s side, like the Red Angel and Tormaggedon, they began to search old libraries, fabricate weapons, and devise wards. Warriors were selected for their capability in close range combat, the only reliable means of banishing the Warp-fiends. The Chieftain Baruman was chosen to lead this cadre of “daemon-hunters” and elevated to the rank of Consul.

In part, these efforts were aided by the 1st Captain, Ezekyle Abbadon. He, too, despised the grip the forces of Chaos had on the heart of their Legion, an infection embodied in the figure of Zardu Layak. Perhaps because of this, he parted with suits of Terminator plate that he would not have otherwise. Though these suits were intended for the Justaerin elite, they found use in the hands of the newborn daemon-hunters of the 16th - the Lupus Dei. In turn, the 16th deepened its ties with the 1st, with several of its officers being raised to the Justaerin."

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I wrote them into the final product.

Seriously contemplating getting a Realm of Battle: Sector Imperialis board tomorrow (payday).

My Wolves are based on Sector Imperialis bases as I love the idea of a city-fighting force (Cities of Death was an evocative supplement) and they're in the "Once it's gone it's gone" category.

Fortunately I somehow made quarterly profit bonus. Still a load of cash though.

What's a simple shotgun conversion? I'm making the Void Pioneers from the Mournival packet, and want to run them with shotguns. I'm thinking cut off the magazine/mag well and top part of bolters, but if anyone has a better idea, I'm all ears.
