I have been building murder turkeys. 3 more to go.

Untitled by nifty, on Flickr

Love those models, but building them broke my spirit so three still waiting to be build.

I actually found them straight forward and fun to build. Mold lines were minimal. The heat bending was pretty easy on these guys since the ammo belts/wires are thin so they heat up and bend quickly. Tip, in the instructions actually, is to glue one end in and then heat up the belt and get it close then heat it up again and hold it in the desired spot until it cools then glue the free end. I did have to pre bend a couple of the ammo belts because they wouldnt fit while straight but a quick random bend let me get the first end glued. Once the belt is in position there is enough flex in them to get glue in there even after it cools from the 2nd heat up. Once glued heat it up one more time and the belt/wire will relax itself into a more natural looking position. During the last heat up you can also adjust it a bit if you want to give them a little sway/motion look based on the leg pose. I use a piece of cardboard to protect the rest of the model while I am heating things up with a hair drier. I just bend the cardboard as needed to get it between the belt I am heating and the rest of the mini. This kept the little leg pistons, toes and the thin armor spots on the legs from deforming by accident.

Pins are also your friend. I started by pinning 1 foot to the base then building up to the hip where I used another pin to set the hip joint then built back down to the other foot. I dry fit the 2nd leg to make sure I got the look I wanted before gluing it. You dont need to glue the first foot down at the beginning because the pins will hold it down while you pose. This lets you reposition the entire mini as needed if you misplaced the first foot and ended up with half the mini hanging off the base.

Get in there and get them murder turkeys built! :biggrin.:

Thanks, glad you gave me those tips.

Ammo belts are of no concern for me becaaaaahaaause I bought some nice flexible resin ones a couple of years ago and had no problems whatsoever since then. :)

But all those little bits and bops where so tedious to build that I gave up.

In addition I made a grave mistake in positioning which means that the first one looks like he raises it's arm in the sky and look very stupid.

We need more Dual Lightning Claw Terminators!

Also: SCORE!

Grabbed a copy of Visions of Heresy in the Black Books style for less than I was prepared to pay up to. That completes the Black Books for me as I'm not too fussed in the campaign sets for 1-4 (however if they do come up at a price I can stomach I'll probably pick them up).

Also rest of hobby budget aside just in case that box drops...

Ill be playing heresy this weekend! 2v2 with fists and wolves going up againts tsons and iron warriors.

My macharius omega 3d print and plasma predators will see the table for the first time to deliver delicious plasma death to the traitors.

Dual lightning claws look so good!

Thanks folks!

I love the movement in that terminator's pose.  I'm off now to dig out my lightning claws. I was put off because I don't think they are very points efficient, but you guys are right: rule of cool trumps that!

Yeah it's mainly rule of cool but also I figured given that my Cataphractii have all the AP2/1 melee gear I might as well give the termies who can actually run & sweep a loadout that lets them mulch power armour marines/ a loadout that means if they *do* run it's not a compromise for missed shooting

Might go back and add a bit of sponge weathering but otherwise the test mini for my Iron Hands scheme is done

Excellent. Love the black-but-not-black-but-actually-black color.

Thanks, corvus black is really my go-to now just because you can actually shade it with nuln oil which is much easier than edge highlighting, which I've sworn off unless *absolutely* necessary

Thanks folks!

Good point. I have Cataphractii waiting to be built with claws. It really will just be rule of cool ...

Lightning Claw Cataphractii are the most brutal looking of all generic HH models by miles. They just look face meltingly mean.

Oh god now I'm thinking about Raven Guard Deliverer Cataphractii with dual Ravens Talons - furious charge, master-crafted and rending on those lightning claws would be pretty nasty (and almost certainly incredibly cost-ineffective :happy.:

Looks great, though I wish there were higher rez individual shots. I feel like black armour is one of the best to try new techniques on; you can go super gritty and not highlight and only recess weather and it'll look great because black doesn't shade. Or you could do a high gradient, clean black that's being lit to appear more grey.

I'd love to take Lightning claws, but they're just so bad. I'm all for rule of cool but they cost alot to do a little.

Speaking of things rhat are generally bad, I've been working on some II Legion Siege units. I've got 20 Breachers, (another 10 Veteran Mournival Breachers on my desk) and some Choooooooooooooombot 3000s done.

I'm not sure who the proper authorities are but I feel like this needs to be reported to.....someone. I don't think I own a single miniature that hasn't got Agrax on it.

Have to say, though, it's looking pretty good. I particularly like your skin tone - perfect for Raven Guard.

I played a test game with a friend over the weekend where we used the 2nd edition rule set to play a kill team level game - no squads, just individual units, no psychic powers and no morale, just to get the feel for it, and we really liked it.

He'd never played 2nd before, I hadn't for nigh on 25 years and we were done in a little over two hours that included loads of rule checking and working stuff out, so I think we can nail it in an hour.

We're going to try and find a way to segue in the necromunda 94 campaign ideas and create a horus heresy kill team style league.

Tell me about it. Want to hear the worst part? That black is one colour no highlights, the skin is like 2 colours and a purple glaze.

I'll contest the bad, and suggest instead 'situational'! Brilliant models and ones that excel in Zone Mortalis - I admittedly wouldn't be footslogging them...

Love the Achea too - Castellax are some of my favourite models and it's such a good spin on them. Your work is great!

Have now also caught up on everyone else's recent work in the thread - and it's superb, kudos everyone!

Built the first cataphractii (still undecided which legion to give them to). Finished the recon marine at least - now need to do the rest of the squad.

Excellent work on the terminator! My vote goes to Sons of Horus, Space Wolves, White Scars, or Night Lords. Great job on the recon marine, love the tones!

I finished up my August entry for #hobby2021challenge over on my instagram, finished up a transport, went for the classic Rhino.

I actually went and fully sealed off any gaps, but when I was adding the tracks... grrr!!! It broke them apart! I tried to reseal it again with filling putty and sanding it, but the essence of speed took over and I just shrugged and said "Good enough", and so here we are.
