I had an idea a bit ago - what would happen if a Genestealer Cult existed on a post-Tyranid invasion world and came across, say, a brood of Hormagaunts deep in an underhive? Maybe they could train the Gaunts as attack dogs of sorts, by multi-generational (and highly dangerous) breeding for domestication?

It’s an interesting idea, although I rather suspect that ‘gaunts and other warrior beasts are most likely sterile. The hive mind would be unlikely to invest in providing energy-expensive and complicated reproductive systems in a creature that is basically a soldier ant. Certainly ants, termites, bees and most social wasps have specific castes that breed the next generations and it seems likely that Tyranids would operate a similar system.
It might be better to go down the route of the cult nurturing leftover mycetic spores and “waking” the tyranid beasts as required.

At least Hormagaunts are said to be able to reproduce on their own, at a rapide rate.

This, this was the lore snippet I was basing this off of. Hormagaunts can reproduce on their own, uniquely for Tyranid lifeforms. They are not, in fact, sterile, for once.
