I went...I saw...I got excited...I hope reanimated protocols are easier than the wall of words to read...monolith, Yay!..6 pistols, have a name, six shooter, puppet master refrence...c'tan of the eldar name, hmm?..command protocols, we'll see...Either way...hopeful.

I'm wondering what I'll order next saturday.

During the hype, I wanted some new heavy destroyers and doomstalkers. But seeing the datasheets, I'm actually thinking that the T5 4W destroyers is a bit fragile and expensive (power level 4). On the other hand, the doomstalker is a T6 12W at PL7, but worse at firing (BS4). ATM, the balance, for me , goes to the doomstalkers. And I love the mini especially in an army full of warriors and reanimators.

I'm starting the necron, so I'm new here with 2 assembled necron halves Indomitus (and 1 unassembled: will keep/sell it depending on the codex) + szeras + 1 scythe.

What do you guys think about those new heavy destroyers and doomstalkers ?

Have we had any leaks about the ghost ark? If it stays the same, 20 Warriors blobs will be quite tempting.

I think everyone agrees with the reanimator being a piece of useless junk, but Warriors backed by a cryptek and a GA would be very resilient, not even considering special rules we have yet to discover.

I'm personally hoping the monolith doesn't *just* get 4 extra wounds. Not seeing a 5++ or QS previewed for it does concern me. Being able to run 4 death rays is awesome, but not if it's still floating around without some kind of damage mitigation.

they only previewed the weapons, don't panic yet.

As for szarekh, wow... he's going to be a force for sure as well as buff tastic

Great, now I'm wondering if he says "sally forth" as his army of skeletons Necrons march to war and how well attached his jaw is

Those rules look excellent and totally befitting a centrepiece model and leader of an entire faction. Glad to see Praetorians specifically called out in abilities as well!

I'm really hoping Triarch Stalkers will be able to use his buffs. Would love a pair of Stalkers with Heavy Gauss Cannons sticking close to this guy.

Glad someone's pickin up what im putting down, haha.

Im new to necrons (starting with Indomitus like many others)-- but this is a pretty big buff for Praetorians, right? They werent really rated competitively before, but that might change with these phaeron buffs.

It's a buff for certain, but we'll see how effective it is at giving them increased combat potential. 3+ armor and no invul to speak of makes it difficult to get them in combat where they really want to be hale and intact.

Protocols:

Restrictions

Entire army myst be from same Dynasty (Exclude C'tan, agents, unaligned)

Must have Necron <NOBLE> as warlord

Must be a Necron <NOBLE> on the battlefield that turn

Unit must be within 6" of non-C'tan <CHARACTER> (so... C'tan are still characters)

Choose order of Command Protocols

This is done AFTER deplyment but BEFORE roll for 1st turn

Can note down secretly on army rost

Can lay datacards down in order

Each turn select one of the two directives (named dynasties have both of 1)

If game goed on longer than 5 turns, the last one continues in effect

Eternal Guardian:

If didn't move, fall back or advance this BR, gain light cover.

Can holt steady or set to defend as if in heavy cover

Sudden Storm

    +1" movement

Can do actions and still shoot

Vengeful Stars

Ranged wound roll of 6 = AP better by 1

Ranger attacks <half range = ignore cover

Hungry Void

Melee wound roll of 6 = AP better by 1

+1S if charged, was charged or made heroic int.

Undying Legions

Living metal = gain 2 wounds instead of 1

Re-Roll one die each time the unit makes RP

Concuering Tyrant

+3" to auras and " Rites of reanimation", Lords will and My will be done

Fall back and shoot but will be =1 to hit

You could argue this with most things in 40k... Just because it can be killed doesn't make them bad - EVERYTHING can be killed... Providing enough targets worthy forces choices, etc, etc. They're a lot better than they were and consequently are a contender whereas before they were consigned to the shelf.

Look for the positives instead of just going for the negative. Otherwise we all may as well just run a bazillion warriors and wouldn't that be fun for all.

I shall be finishing my praetorians off in excitement of the return of the king. Him and his entourage will be great fun to see on the table - who wouldn't want a spearhead of szarekh and monoliths?!

Point taken, but you underestimate how much I like Silver Tide :teehee:
