Inso
Here's the latest finished Squad: ... and this is the now complete "Catachan Training Platoon": The next part of the big project is to build a proxy DKoK element but I will need to sculpt a few more bits and bobs for that... starting with three Commissars :) . Bonehead
Cool. I'm really interested to see what you make of them. It sounds like it's a got a lot of potential. Inso
My vision for the DKoK platoon is to make sure there are a few Commissars... so this is the second Commissar that I have sculpted :) : I have a third as a WIP and a fourth one that is even more WIP... the fourth one will be a proxy for Yarrick (so will have more of a "lordly" aspect to his sculpt. Bonehead
Nice one. Having just got a few proper silicon sculpting tools myself, I have a new appreciation for how slick the folds on the back of that coat look and how much less slick getting them that way must have been. Very, very good work, mate! Kommisar_K
Awesome as ever! Are you still doing a 4th or moving on? Looking forward to seeing this DKoK section grow! I am currently working on a Yarrick proxy... so yes, the fourth Commissar is on the way :) . 10 hours ago, Bonehead said: Nice one. Inso
If anyone is interested, there are some very nicely painted versions of my Helmet wearing, AK Troopers in a new Macrocosm Kickstarter: Space Dwarves Auto Rifles 2nd Squad by Macrocosm — Kickstarter The painting service that is used, really knows how to make my sculpts look good :) . Bonehead
You know, it's a funny coincidence there. I'm amassing parts to put together a little platoon of an unusual guard regiment that I've invented, and I've been thinking about what helmets they should have. They have padded flak jackets with a diamond pattern on them, and it made me think of the old squats- maybe it would be interesting to give them squat-type helmets so they basically look like tall squats. Then i realised there was no way to get hold of 30-odd squat helmets, so the whole idea sort of petered out. And here you immediately present a set of models with the exact helmets I'm thinking of. What are the odds? Well, one to one because it happened, but still, it feels like they were way higher. Inso
@Bonehead - Once I have finished the last of the four commissars, I'll be working to pad out the helmet wearing troops with a bit of extra variety (more comms, sgts, special troopers etc)... ... The last of the four commissars is in the process of getting arms and weapons :) . Bonehead
You did say there was one more coming. Very impressive, again. Presumably the almost 2-D pose is to enable easy moulding? Cheers :) . Yes, I wanted to make it a one-piece cast so went for a more 2d pose. It is slightly reminiscent of the old (metal) Yarrick sculpt which only had a separate back pack. I felt that the size of the powerclaw would have been too much on the end of his arm so felt a pole was the best way to go.
