Inso
The Servitor and all its arms is now finished :) : These will be sent off for casting once I have sculpted a rifle for another project (then everything will be sent off together :) ). Bonehead
Brilliant. There's a part of me that feels it's a slight shame about there being only one left arm option, but that part of me is a dick and we should ignore him. Inso
21 hours ago, kabaakaba said: any time i'm looking into this topic i wanna try sculpting again, try and throw away because can't stop comparing... realy amazing work. you should sell them! Thank you :) . First of all, I've been sculpting things for nearly 40 years now... so I've had a lot of practice and I'm still not up there with the best of them. I can probably reach those heights but it would add a lot of time to each sculpt so I work at a level that I'm happy with. I use the axiom "finished; not perfect". There will always be areas that aren't quite as sharp or perfect as you'd hope but having something tangible at the end of the work is what is important... so get sculpting! Don't compare with other people's work, compare with your own. Try to improve on what you have done before, ask for balanced critic/advice if you need to but just get sculpting and enjoy the process. It takes time, practice and perseverance to get better and sadly, there's no easier way... but unless you are sculpting, you can't get better... so keep sculpting :) . Secondly, a lot of my sculpts are available to buy from Macrocosm Miniatures. Chris (the owner) takes my greens as payment for the resin copies that he supplies me with (I don't accept any money for them... we made an agreement that I could sculpt what I want and he'd provide me copies... all very amicable :) ). If you would like to get hold of some, here's the link (I don't earn anything for linking, only the fun of sharing my work... especially because it has been painted by a professional painting service on the site ;) ): Space Dwarves Archives - Macrocosm Bonehead and kabaakaba 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/364408-a-small-astra-militarum-army/page/9/#findComment-6113035 Share on other sites
Inso
I have finally got some of the newer casts and have cleaned and primed the first three :) : These are two Astropaths with a random adventurer, in between them :) . I have also received the "Predator hunters", their enemy and the small diorama that I made (all in good numbers) so it shouldn't be too long before Chris does something for them on his site/through Kickstarter :) . kabaakaba and Bonehead 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/364408-a-small-astra-militarum-army/page/9/#findComment-6114476 Share on other sites

Inso
This is the diorama I made a while back. I received some casts so was able to paint one up :) : I have 20 copies, in resin, that I plan to sell as a limited release (with all proceeds going to the Royal British Legion charity) so I'll post more information when I'm ready to do so :) . Bonehead
Man, you've been busy! They all look amazing. If I had to pick a favourite, it'd be the adventurer, but I don't so they're all great. Inso
Cheers :) . While I'm waiting for some Servitors to arrive, I thought I'd start work on an additional platoon of troops. These will be added to the army but won't be part of the planned display base; due to size restrictions. The platoon is unusual in the fact that it has three infantry squads, rather than the two in the other platoons. This platoon has flamers, auto-cannons and a heavy flamer. It consists of a command squad, three infantry squads and a heavy weapon squad... everything is converted and assembled, ready for paint, apart from the heavy weapon squad (as shown): I'll be converting/assembling the heavy weapon squad next (assuming that no Servitors arrive any time soon) :) ... Inso
On the cork, I've got a veteran commander to go alongside the predator team... but he's still WIP: ... and in other news, I've just received a parcel with the Servitor casts in (plus some rifles): I will be prepping the Servitors this weekend... they are the last miniatures in my big army project :) . Bonehead
Little AKS.... will any squats be getting those, or are they for another project? They are for a small project... which involves them being used by Squats :) . 5 troopers, each with three different styles of head (Beret, helmet and chip-hat). Something that matches the army's kit but could be used as veterans or a different regiment :) . Inso
22 hours ago, Bonehead said: Those are pretty incredible man. They really fit the whole army's look. Cheers :) . Just four more Servitors to paint, a bit of sorting and then it's "phase 2" of the project. Phase 2 is varnishing and adding grass-tufts to all the bases and then working out the base area for the display base. Phase 3 will be building the display base (something that I have never done on such a grand scale before :o ) ... Just four more Servitors :) (2 standard ones, a heavy bolter one and a plasma cannon one).
