Dark Shepherd
I feel like I definitely need at least one Impulsor now. Dark Shepherd
I don't have any yet. Yet... I do hope to get some soon. I finally have some Primaris to throw into them! It will really fire up the GW cynical tactics paranoia if everyone loaded up on Impulsors for the last 12/18 months AND THEN o.g. marines make a rules comeback and veteran players dust off the old vehicles and newbies go out and buy them Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/365884-things-are-looking-up/page/4/#findComment-5586205 Share on other sites
Karhedron
I might get an Impulsor but I am kinda hanging on to see if rumours about the Shield Dome going to a 5++ turn out to be true. I hope it gets a bit of a discount if it does. With 2W Firstborn now looking strong in the midfield, I feel less urgent need to mech up my Primaris. I guess I really want to see the full codex rules for Veteran Intercessors, BGVs and possibly even Assault Intercessors. Once I have seen those, I will have a better idea of my Primaris Transport requirements. Karack Blackstone
Watching Auspex Tactics vid on a few units. Scouts stay 1 Wound for Vanilla SM’s. If BC’s get 2 Wounds and PA as they are and remain modeled, they are great at around 14 to 16 points each. About to soon find out about Impulsor box listed Invul save from Shield Dome. Filius
Shu-huuu … so much optimism for Blood Claws! Finally a bit of motivation to make something with the 75 unbuilt Firstborn in my basement, which pretty much wait there since the release of the Primaris. Thanks! Karhedron
Flamestorm Aggressors are now confirmed as having 12" range. This means they are more useful On The Hunt and could well have a place on the field now. (Note to self, build 3 Conquest Aggressors ). One Two Wolf
The -1AP on combat blades could be amazing for incursors, except that I just got inspired by 2 wound grey hunters, moved them up the priority list and finished 15 yesterday... Instead of the incursors sitting patiently... Sigh. So many great choices! Sorry to poop on your parade but if Tacticals are going uo to 18 (warcom) then Blood Claws will too. Karhedron
I think both Hunters and Claws are likely to weigh in at 18 points but even so they will be strong I think. Grey Hunters will arguably out-perform Intercessors as they will be 2 points cheaper. While they will have 1 less point of AP when shooting, they will have an extra point of AP in melee thanks to Astartes Chainswords. Plus access to Special Weapons and extra melee weapons is always welcome. The ability for Blood Claws to drop a 30-wound T4 unit out of an LRC or Stormwolf onto an Objective will open up some interesting possibilities. My wolves have always done well when fairly mechanised and I think this will continue in 9th. The biggest problem I can see is that the points hikes will make fitting a balanced army into 1500 points or less a bit of a challenge. Still, the sheer variety of toys at our disposal should make games interesting. Durable Troops seem to be key in 9th and we are as durable as any other Astartes while hitting significantly harder in melee meaning we don't have to rely on our Elites to clear enemy Troops off Objectives quickly. Our own Troops should be up to the task. Jorin Helm-splitter
Yeah I think rhino rush is going to make a comeback. Being able to transport 20 wounds of marines cheaply is a big deal. I'm sticking with primaris but I could see Intercessors being our worst troop option at the moment. Its going to be fun seeing how all these changes play out.I'm really hoping impulsors keep the 4++ from the shield dome though. We just have a lot of good options, and if melta becomes the most popular weapon I'll skew more toward infantry. Karack Blackstone
Impulsor should either stay current cost and keep the 4++. If not, 5++ and go down a bit. BC”s are 47+ Wounds, 15 Claws and WGPL, or 14 with WGPL and WP, old cheapies deathstar in LRC or SWolf. Still going to suck getting run into by 60+ S4 AP-1 D1 Atks hitting on 2’s, Litany of Hate, should be reroll 1’s to hit and wound! Plus shot by the twin Assault Cannons and twin hurricane bolters! GH’s... oh good Molly, 20 wounds, paired MG’s or PG’s, or Flamers if you wanna BBQ the enemy. Astartes Chainswords are a must for us, 7 BG’s, and a WGPL to taste. In a Rhino racing around like a pocket hurricane of Death. As many as one wants... My GH’s will each be ACSwd / SS WGPL, BG / BP / PF GHPL, 2 PG or MG GH’s, and 6 BG, 8 BP, 8 ACSwd for the rest of the pack, shoved in a Rhino grinning with glee to charge and shred the enemy to turn the snow red! I’ve got Indomitus and some Intercessor packs, going two Impulsor with domes and ABR’s, the others are likely to be BR’s and Primaris need a big mid cheap IFV grav tank, toss 10 to 12 in, basically a x2 Impulsor with more space, not a great deal more guns. So, up to 6 GH packs as above, currently at 2 BC packs, need more, figuring out IC’s... 5 LF’s with Grav Cannons + amps in a Plazorback would seriously hurt too. As someone noted above, SW’s don’t need Elites to clear off Objectives, the Troops can do it too! Ragnar69
We just have to hope that we keep our options and rules for GHs, BCs, LFs and WG. It could be possible that we just get a sentence like 'Space wolves call their tactical squads Grey Hunters' and have to use the tactical datasheet.... And I also hope that we get our supplement together with the codex and don't hang in limbo for a few months Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/365884-things-are-looking-up/page/4/#findComment-5591949 Share on other sites

Dark Shepherd
Anyone else feel like we're temporarilyweirdly in limbo/a holding pattern/a phoney war/stuck in warp transit? knowing the marine codex is 2 months away and ours not long after* plus the general lack of releases/news/rumours for a couple of weeks seems to have created a slight sense of the doldrums Im only modelling for fun as list building seems pointless close to the codex/points and rules changes, but that means I have to wait and see for a few units/options * hopefully Karhedron and Valerian 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/365884-things-are-looking-up/page/4/#findComment-5592270 Share on other sites
