Put together a crusader for my INQ28 campaign. This is what they will look like for a least one faction.

Getting some work out of the delaque kit on the lower body/legs. Space marine scout torso was used with arms from the Deathwatch kit. Storm shield is from the Dark Angels Veterans box. The helm is from the Skitarii Rangers box.

Edited to include all parts.

I work a demanding job. One where any small error or lapse in judgement can get someone hurt. While on shift I noticed how my team worked through obstacles and the daily grind by utilizing the strengths of each member. By all means, none of us are perfect. Not by a long shot. This was our strength, it’s what made us a team, what made us good at our jobs.

With the onset of the revised and completely new rules in Killteam I decided I would honor my brothers by putting them into model form. This was a fulfilling project in many ways. Though I am not through with getting the team table top ready, my team has been thrilled with how I have tried to capture their essence and even their look in miniature form as a space marine scout team.

Let’s start with the leader shall we? This model is molded after my supervisor. He has the a presence about him which calls attention to his movements. Also, he really flaunts that high and tight. Armed with a sniper rifle and command gauntlet he is ready to lead his group through the fire and out the other side.

KT-Sniper-Scout-Sgt.jpg

What’s a team without it’s players? These guys are the ground pounders, the ones who run into the gates if hell because it needed to be done. They each have their own way of doing it and have adopted the attitude if if I’m going to march through hell, I’m walking in like I own the place. Armed with knives, pistols, or even boltguns they will have their presence felt.

The-Runners.jpg

Now we come to our heavier hitters. Missile launcher? Check. Heavy bolter? Again, check. Man with the action star hair holding a shotgun, but no less intimidating? Check! These guys may not always be up close and personal on the table. They definitely will be noticed.

The-Specialists.jpg

Every team has they guys who watch the backs of the others. From their high perches or mud encrusted sinkholes, these are those men. These snipers watch over the others providing assistance and cover as needed ad well as dealing with their own targets. These models are still in the process of adapting my coworker’s faces and hair to them. Green stuff work is needed to complete the look before painting can be done.

The-Snipers.jpg

As of this writing I am rather pleased with the team. They reflect my brothers as we see each other. As you can tell, we are all very different. When we are trying to accomplish a goal though, look out. It’s our time to shine.

When I began showing each if them their 40k self I had never seen so much gratitude. Everyone was thrilled that they had been made into one of my teams for a game. What really made them happy was that I purposefully chose stances and weapons that reflected who and what they are. Then came the ear to ear grins at seeing a stylized and hand picked head that actually looked like them. I believe that’s where they all really got a morale boost. Everyone was so appreciative and happy. It made me efforts worth more to have that moment with my team. I wonder how they will react one the minis are painted…

When you request reinforcements on your own table top, remember that even in the real world you have your own band of brothers who support you and those you support. Why not reinforce your army with them?

Today I give you two new builds for INQ28. Not sure what I’m attaching these to yet. They may yet become their own force.

First is Furian. He sails the skies on mechanical wings killing with his spear and blades.

Furian.jpg

Scorn was a woman who had everything ripped away from her. Thrown from the higher reaches of the Spire when her family was stripped of their titles in a coup for control of the Badlands. She has now returned to bring justice as the blind Scorn.

Let me know what you think! I appreciate the likes, but would also appreciate a little commentary on my progress. Thanks again!

It’s been a while since I posted here on the B&C, but I assure you I have not been idle. On top of work I’ve been training for a Spartan which I recently ran. After finishing the spartan I spent some time with my wife and got in a little bit of hobby time as well.

Here are a few things I’ve been working on for my Tau forces. Like most people I really dislike the Vespid models. I believe they are too static and lack detail. So as many others I have decided to convert my own proxies for my force.

I started with Tau Fire Warriors as the base bodies. I then used the breacher backpacks minus the side nubs. For one set of “wings” I used parts from the Drukhari reaver jet bikes. For two sets I used extra target locks from crisis battle suits. The fourth had a set of multi trackers attached.

The Shas’ui of the team is riding atop a hover drone I had originally purchased for an Ethereal conversion. I decided to have a Fireblade instead which led to the extra part.

Backstory wise we know the Tau love to experiment. How much equipment do they have in experimental status these days? In the older codices it seems like a lot. Why wouldn’t a species with advanced technological mechs able to jump play with that tech for their troops as well? These guys are my answer to that.

Until next time!

I’ve wanted to get a knight for sometime now. I just can’t justify the pricing at the moment, so I decided to see what I could fo with parts I had on hand.

I received a Dread Knight for Christmas. This was used as the main body. I had a fuselage from a storm talon and used that for the torso. I received the night parts as part of a trade so cost was still negligible. Through all those components together with some spare parts for the bits box and this is what you get.

There’s still a little bit to go as I’ve got holes to fill in and details to set. So far I’m happy with this build though. It has turned out a lot better than I expected.

This guy is going to be a Freeblade hence the extra equipment located throughout the model. I called him Twiceborn Pilgrim. The being born twice the signified by the two tombstones adorning the top. I’m still working on his backstory at the moment. Hope you like it.

I did a Spartan race a while back that was near the Citadel Cafe. While I was in the area I grabbed a Grendl Grendlsen model. Not content with just one squat, I ordered the ammo jack as well.

Rhys-and-Dink.jpg

Once I put them together and held them side by side I decided they looked close enough the be brothers. I named the Grendlsen model Rhys after the actor who played Gimli in Lord of the Rings. Ragnir Gunnstein became Dink after Peter Dinklage. Together they own Lock and Stock.

Lock and Stock is a combination guns shop and general store. The brother deal in new and refurbished weaponry and ammunition as well as general merchandise as clothing, food, and other daily essentials. I think of the as 7Eleven with a gun store inside.

I know I am far from the first to convert an armored container into a shop. I’ll also be far from the last. Heck, I still have three to do just for this project! Never the less, here it is.

Let me know what you think!

What do you do when you’ve lost interest in an army? Me, I’m going to start over and build one that I actually want to put the time in on. What am I talking about? My space marine chapter the Knights of Lydda.

Back in the day (4th edition?) I wanted to have a custom chapter built with the then new system. I used the codex to get my chapter’s flavor of warfare and started modeling. I really like Black Templar styling at the time. Naturally I made a knight themed chapter, but I based it off Saint George. I figured the legend and iconography went well with what I had already started.

Fast forward to today. My chapter is still in pieces. Most of it if built has inly made it to priming. I realized that my heart really wasn’t in this one. I’ve done several other projects to completion, so I knew that it really wasn’t a time issue. I had to face it, it was an issue of want.

Going back through years worth of notes I found I kept wanting to do something with my family heraldry. A quartered yellow and red shield with a red rampant lion opposite three blue six sided stars. This had real appeal to me. About 40 pages with of notes kind of appeal.

So, as of now I am retiring the Knights of Lydda in favor of this idea. I will be repurposing my existing army in the new scheme (for those pieces that were fortunate enough to get painted) as well as keep building from my grey mountain of shame.

I call the new chapter the Empyrean Lions. Here are the first models I have put together.

Pride Captain (company captain)

A variety of parts were used to create this guy. Things from Guilliman to eliminators were all used in order to make what I think is a believable jump captain.

Scout

Modeled to represent a young man I support and count as family. I wanted traditional weapons an 40k here. The spear tribal meets sci-fi has always interested me. I think I pulled a nice combo with this one.

Both models still new a little work, but they are by far the closest I have ever come to what I envisioned in my head in a long time.

Stay tuned as I flesh this thing out, hope you enjoy the ride!

The mold lines are actually cleaned up. I don’t know why it left a different color on the plastic in those parts. All of those were scraped with a hobby knife and are actually smooth to the touch. Edited by Custom Hero

Continuing on with my Ogryn privateers, I added two new characters to the squad. These were both done by using almost exclusively bits from the Imperial Guard Ogryn box. I do not have character names for these guys yet. I’m still figuring them out as I go.

The first picture is a group shot showing the privateer captain along with both of his subordinates. i’ve been through in the little murder monkey for good measure.

2-B7-E0-F71-A8-D2-4-EC8-813-B-D1-AD11374

This first guy uses Nork Deddog’s equipment, but with a different face. I wanted to give him some character by allowing him to be his own person. That’s not something usually encouraged in the Ogryn ranks.

863-FA2-C6-E1-CD-470-A-90-FA-64-F5-D23-C

The second model is an over the top weapons expert. I gave him plenty of pouches and grenades along with his nice big shooty gun. And just drive home the point that he knows he’s a tough guy his shield is the face plate from an imperial knight.

That’s it for today hope you guys like what you see.

Bors is a simple ogryn who believes in himself. When he was part of the Astra Militarum he was always looked down on. Though given some of the most dangerous missions, he was given the crudest weapons from the company’s stores. Now sailing with Stonebeard it was different. He wore the best armor and chose his weapons. There was no more looking down on him. Ogryn he may well be, but on this ship he was just short of nobility.

Dahmur.jpg

This is Dahmur. An enigmatic figure from the western lands of the Styxian Divide.

The model is a mix of parts from the Vansaar Gangers Corpse and Grinder Cult kits combined with the cape piece from the Dark Imperium baby face sorcerer, a horned skull from the skulls box and some green stuff to complete the head.

Would you guys have done anything different?

@Bryan Blaire I work at a residential mental care facility for kids on the autistic spectrum and severe behavioral problems. Had one bite me which resulted in nerve damage in my right arm. Slowly getting better, but I’m getting there. Thank you for your kind words!

I have been reworking dome models for Killteam. I wanted to do a mandalorian inspired take on scouts.  Below is my test model.Vode-Scout.jpg

Once I settled in a scheme I began painting the other converted models in the 10 man scout team. Between my double shifts yesterday I was able to get a lot of color down. Weapons, washes and visors left to go before finishing up the bases.
