Craftworld Iybraesil - Battle Witch Yvraine and Yncarne

I was looking through the sprues I had for Yvraine and Yncarne and realised I'm missing most of Yvraine. Oops! I must have used the parts for another conversion that I now can't seem to find. Luckily I still had the sword, the hand fan and a shed load of bits!

Needs some gap filling but otherwise looking pretty great! She looks a bit more "battle armoured" that her normal priestess vibe

2 Phoenix lords down, I'll maybe figure the last out one day, maybe when they're all Plastic

I had a very productive weekend and managed to build 20 Guardians, 9 Windriders and 10 (very old) Swooping Hawks. The new Guardian kit is lovely, still keeping the old plastic Guardian vibe with a much better scale and pose. Really looking forward to painting them!

Following on from the Yvraine kitbash, I've converted up a Pitfighter-esque Visarch. I really like the swanky "come-get-yours" look. I think I need to add a helmet or a mask as his features are very human. Perhaps a Wrack mask?

Hey, love all the hard work that you have put in. I just picked up a Combat Patrol and want to make a Craftworld Iybraesil army. I was wondering what color you used for the teal for the main part of your army?

I made an account just to ask and thank you for posting your journey creating your force over the years. I'm going to use it as a launching point for my adventures into the Eldar army.

Thanks.

Wow! What a lovely comment!

The blue is nice and easy as I'm a bit of lazy painter at times :

Spray undercoat: Mechanicus standard grey or any equivilant

Baselayer: Thousand Sons Blue

Recess wash: Agrax Earthshade

Highlight: Ahriman Blue

Extra Highlight for characters and vehicles: Temple Guard blue

Done!

For whites I use Celestra grey with a Nuln oil recess wash

The black is Corvus Black highlighted with Mechanicus Standard Grey

Burgundy cloth is Barak Nar Burgundy, Nuln oil then highlight with Screamer pink

I'd love to see how your army project goes, more Iybraesil is always welcome

I love everything I see happening here. The bits used for Asurman are great! The Visarch's hair is cool as well. Great inspiration to finish these Storm Guardians I am 40٪ through.

Thank you Urkh! Looking forward to seeing your Storm Guardians!

We'll see how much I've bitten off and whether that's too much for me in 3 months

I've started on Yvraine, Visarch and Corsairs as they're all going to be largely the same paint scheme. I'm aiming for that Ynnari dark red as a seperate scheme from both my Craftworld and Kabal schemes, I'll get some WIP shots up soon

I see a dark eldar raider in your pic, but it isn't listed in your vow?

Yeah, I only listed the Craftworlds stuff here but my Vow also included:

Lelith Hesperax (5)

14 Kabalites (14)

Talos (3)

Ravager (6)

Just so I don't go mad painting Blue and white

After a brief interlude of painting Dark Eldar and not having the right red to highlight the armour of the Corsairs, I'm back to it:

PXL_20230719_212603654.thumb.jpg.101553a74854bf23cd8baaa2d7b1dcdf.jpg

The test model isn't perfect, I think the sword needs some work. It's not bad, the Warpstone Glow didn't flow right and wouldn't pool how I wanted it too. Not the end of the world, I'll just mix some white in and sort it out!

PXL_20230719_212516108.thumb.jpg.f4750efc85809d99d189ac21bfad79cb.jpg

Whilst the 3 Eldar Schemes are distinct, they keep the same colours across all armies for Black, Bone, Gold and Burgundy + their bases. If I want to mix and match armies through Ynnari, I can do that without it irratating me

Corsair number 2 is done:

And number 3 is also well on the way:

I've been totally sucked into Hunt Showdown (again) and haven't been painting much. I have atleast got the base colours down on the rest of the Corsair squad so it's just tidy ups and highlights I need to do. I've got next week off so expect much more progress (hopefully)

Classic Hawks, lovely job!

Thanks Kallas!

By my reckoning, I think these guys are the oldest models I have in my collection? Perhaps only contested by a couple fo the Warlocks I have that were released about the same time and the RTB01 Rhinos and Landraiders I have. I don't think they quite stand up compared to new sculpts but I really love the Retro look

Right then, 10 more Guardians done:

This means the "Veg" of the Vow is complete, I've finished the less interesting and tedious units and now I get into the "Meat" of the Vow

It's also pretty cool to look back and compare current and previous projects. The left Guardian is one of the first models I completed for the project about 3ish years ago:

It's cool to see how much the models have improved, the scheme has evolved  but also how much my painting has improved

Wraiths and Bikes next I think!

Finishing the bases and gems really move them up a notch @TrawlingCleaner  I look forward to seeing your bikes.

Thanks Yncarne! Bases and Faces are really the bits of the army that bring the whole thing together!

I've started work on the Wraiths, they've had their washes so it's tidy and highlight time:
