War of the Eagle
I have a few squads of my Raptors already done but here are ny current projects. Raptors seam fairly popular and I was even inspired to start my own from seeing quite a few raptors armys online. Something about that semi grounded aesthetic on space super soilders just seams right. My backstory for my Raptors army is they are the 15th battle company with an overall focus on air imsersion and air support. This is my Stormtalon conversion to look more like a attack hellicoptor. Not original but i think it turned out well. This is my counts as Deredeo Dreadnought conversion. Its a tad tall but people I play with dont care if its modeling for disadvantage. Some more units Im working on. Finally here is some of my finished units so you can see what the rest of my WIP units will look like. Llagos_Tyrant
You've got some cool conversions in here! Great work and welcome to the forum! For the thread, I think it would help readers if you could embed the links into your posts. You can do this by either clicking the Image icon when posting, and pasting the URL into the popup box, or alternatively, you can frame the URL with the code tags (img) and (/img) - replacing the round brackets with square brackets to display a picture in your post. I hope this helps. Again, great work so far and welcome! Interested to see more work of yours in the future! Bjorn Firewalker
I applaud your efforts. I doubt the attack helicopter makes sense for Space Marines, as the term implies they often fight in the vacuum of space, where rotors and propellers will be useless; but if you want to make your own Airwolf or Blue Thunder, you deserve respect for what you showed those classics. I love your Deredeo Dreadnoughts, though. I love your Deredeo Dreadnoughts, though. Thanks very much for the encouragement! I have had a few people confused by my Space marine helicopter. Almost all my conversions stem from not only wanting my army to feel unique, but generally from a personal dislike for an aesthetic of a model. The in the case of the storm talon I hate how squashed it looks so I sought a way to improve that. I could have elongated it and left the rotor off but at that point it looked like a helicoptor anyway so I just leaned into it. For the Deredeo I just hate the overall body shape so I had to use a different body. War of the Eagle
Lore update for my Flying 15th. Tell me what you think if your into that. Tho not completely Sure if I should make my army Raptors or Raptors successors after this lore. Hidden Content The flying 15th are considered odd by the standards of the Raptors, maybe due to having no noticable gene mutation (thanks to being mainly Primaris brothers) to mellow them out comparied to their first born counterparts, are a bit more full of mavericks and competitive individuals. While they don't take trophys or have a stomach for fancy ornate armor, they take great pride in battle field feats. They often, when fully indoctrinating neophites into the flock give them earned call signs based on their most memorable feats. The 15th use tactics where they will send a forward ground party to locate the target enemys and then call in extensive air support. The ground contingent will then advance and take or neutralize the target under the protection of the withering fire power of Raptor gunships and thunderhead pattern storm talons. The 15th likely due to most SM pilots being techmarines have a large number of them among their ranks. Their second in command, brother Vaulter also being a techmarine gives them close ties with the Mechanicus. The 15th are often seen assisting the forgeworld Calitose in a neighboring system to their forward moon base code named "The Nest". The Nest was built as a base from which the 15th keeps an eye on swelling Necron activity in the sector. The 15th have used their Raptors training and killed many necron nobels to slow their organization and advance but the 15th are outnumbered and have been pushed back on more than one occasion. I love everything about this. All I hear while looking at this is CCR's "Fortunate Son"Thanks man, Im definatly trying to give that vibe with my army. Funny tho I saw a guy starting a Raptors sucessor chapter on FB called "Fortunate Sons" Edited October 13, 2020 by War of the Eagle Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/366520-the-flying-15th-raptors-terminators/#findComment-5616704 Share on other sites

Brother Carpenter
Really like the converted vehicles. Nice work! Long ago i saw a vietnam flying cavalry themed catachan army in a wd. It used landspeeders as choppers. Even converted one into a flying basilisk. You work reminds me of that Nice! Yeah I did. There was also a couple people mounting entire storm talons on legs that game me the idea too.
