NatBrannigan
It never made sense to me anyway really, not sure how Siege specialists turned into “spray and pray, the chapter doctrine” Very much agree some additional boost to bolt weapons in tactical doctrine would make more sense and wish they’d rip up legacy or Dorn and try again. Instead we’ll end up with “+1 to damage against vehicles that have an ‘r’ in the name while within 10” with weapons over strength 8 while the player is standing on one leg” because 2 years ago Imperial Fists Whirlwinds were good... No, it makes sense in the same way that unmodified 6s hit twice. The more times you shoot, the more you get. It is also a case of hedging your bets, as it is possible the opponent has no vehicles. High rate of fire weapons are still useful in this situation. Legacy of Dorn is unique in that it has qualifiers that depend on your enemy's army composition. In addition to only being relevant for the 1st turn, Heavy Weapons also have the built in to-hit penalty for infantry. All that working against it, Legacy of Dorn should have been more powerful, not less. Closet Skeleton
IF being a devastator doctrine chapter made sense, they don't need more bolter spam. I can see Bolter drill being very powerful but it depends how the meta developes. Removing obsec bodies is pretty important in 9th. Instead we’ll end up with “+1 to damage against vehicles that have an ‘r’ in the name while within 10” with weapons over strength 8 while the player is standing on one leg” because 2 years ago Imperial Fists Whirlwinds were good... Whirlwinds still have a S7 option. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/366833-legacy-of-dorn-now-only-s7/page/2/#findComment-5616760 Share on other sites
Snazzy
Whirlwinds still have a S7 option. Yeah, but also only 2D3 shots with a BS of 3+. It isn't as abusive as TFCs and the AI Whirlwind. At this point i think the IF supplement is too dependent on the IF and CF Chapter Traits to carry the day. There is very little for a Successor Chapter. jeremy1391 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/366833-legacy-of-dorn-now-only-s7/page/2/#findComment-5617066 Share on other sites
