Jeremy.Phillips
Hey CM, If you still need a tactical or devastator I'd be willing to do either. There are a few chapters I'd be happy with like Blood Ravens, Black Templars (I don't think they can be devastators though), Brazen Consuls, or Angels of Absolution. Komrk
Name: Brother Vorkys Kol Chapter of Origin: Revilers Role upon Induction: Tactical Squad Marine Appearance: Like all of the sons of Corax, Vorkys Kol has the pale white skin and pitch black hair and eyes caused by mutation within the gene-seed. His hair is cropped close to his scalp and face is clean shaven while his head lacks any tattoos or service studs. His body is built rugged but of standard height for Astartes and his armor is pristinely maintained between missions. The only aspects marking Vorkys Kol as distinct are the gray shoulder pad with his chapter's Skull and Lightning emblem and a metallic blue-green scale kept on a wire wrapped around his left gauntlet. Personality: Vorkys Kol has a personality that can ruffle the feathers of more rigid command structures. Highly perceptive and with a strong grasp of tactics, Vorkys often takes the initiative upon himself to change plans on the fly and has even been known to question the orders of his superiors openly. Despite his headstrong belief in himself and his loud objections, he will follow the orders he is given. He is otherwise friendly and jovial among his brothers and has been known to take a liking to regular humans who impress him. Between missions he can often be found maintaining his wargear or reviewing combat footage to improve his and the squad's performance. History: Vorkys Kol was originally seconded to the Deathwatch following the completion of Revilers operations during the Krandor Rebellion (853.M41). His first engagement as a tactical marine was during the Lithon Purge (833.M41) and he would participate in numerous major and minor engagements throughout the campaign that would see the death or enslavement of 100 billion Imperial Citizens at the hands of the Drukhari. It is during this time that Vorkys swore to seek revenge against the Drukhari for their actions. In 853.M41 the Revilers were called upon when Alpha Legion forces added their strengths to the Krandor Rebellion causing the collapse of the local PDF. The chance to fight one of their ancient enemies was a chance to prove themselves for the Revilers and during the counter-attack, Vorkys took a single scale from the ornate armor of an Alpha Legionnaire as a trophy of this action. Following the Exterminatus action taken upon Krandor, Vorkys asked to be seconded to the Deathwatch to fulfil his vengeance upon the Drukhari as he had in his done his part to avenge the Drop Site Massacre. In 857.M41, Vorkys Kol was seconded to the Deathwatch and assigned to Kill-team Gallowbane where he served until being transferred to fill the gaps in other Kill-teams. adesro18
Name: Atreus Maladon Chapter: Astral Drakes Rank: Optio, Third Company Deathwatch Specialism: Techmarine Appearance: The striking countenance of techmarine Atreus, the obsidian skin and blazing red eyes inherited by his chapter from the primogeniters, gives the marine an almost sinister cast. Greying hair, maintained in the close cropped style of his tribe on Lodikar, runs down the middle of his scalp, exposing the tech interface ports along the side of his skull. Signs of his devotion to the Omnissiah. An old scar, a gift from a particularly belligerent Ork savage, furrows through his chin. His armor, as dictated by the traditions of the Astral Drakes is intricately worked with symbols of the forge, his clan and his former chapter, tying him to his old life before joining the deathwatch. Tokens from previous foes adorn his armor, most notably a cloak of brilliant blue scales, taken from the hide of a dread saurian. The very beast he felled as an aspirant, on his way to becoming an Astartes. Amongst the numerous gifts of the Omnissiah implanted within his body to better enable him to commune with the machine, his left arm has been replaced with a high quality bionic, after its loss in battle against the Tyranid Xeno forms. Extending from his backpack power supply, his servo arm, the sign of his ascendance to the machine cult, sits ready. Personality: Atreus is a calculating and logical marine, appearing outwardly calm under fire. At times his ever logical nature may be less agreeable to some of the more hot blooded marines of the deathwatch, who may find him ponderous and perhaps sometimes longwinded but finds easy companionship with many of the other tactically minded brothers, and fellow techmarines. Almost contradictory to the cool calm nature of Atreus, he is partial to the rumble of heavy tank engines, the whine of bikes racing and the scream of jet engines, the power of the machine at his fingertips is by far when he feels most alive. Within his heart the battle between compassion and stoicism rages against the cold logic instilled by chapter and the teachings of the machine. As with many brothers of his chapter, a deep running desire to be the shield of the emperor is tempered by the cold calculus of war. A fact learned time and again in the chapter history, choosing between the optimal solution usually comes at a cost of blood, a fact which tears at the hearts of the Astral Drakes. This experience was never so profoundly felt than against the Ork hordes which threatened the chapter’s home system itself. The choices made to combat the Orks saw some worlds, including Lodikar, but at the expense of countless lives and other worlds ravaged. The loss of those worlds hangs heavy on all the hearts of the campaign against warboss EadKrhaka. Secondment to the Watch As is tradition, warriors of the Deathwatch are given over to the deathwatch when the need is great, particularly that of techmarines. The chapter considers themselves duty bound to provide warriors for the noble orginization that is the deathwatch, and does not mourn the transfer of a brother over to the deathwatch. With the hate of the greenskin fresh in the heart of Atreus, being a recent veteran of campaigns against the greenskin menace, Artreus was offered up to the deathwatch so he may continue to satisfy his desire for vengeance against the Xenos of the universe. Timeline 827.M41- Ascended to the ranks of the space marines after completing the trials of the hunt, slaying a dread Saurian. The hide was given as a gift before leaving his tribe, the Razgora forever. 833.M41- First deployment as member of the 10th company bike squads. Forward renaissance duties against renegade militias. 842.M41- Promotion to the 6th company tactical armored reserve. 844.M41- Seconded to the Chapter armory as an initiate to the machine cult. 848.M41- Completion of duties on Mars, returned to chapter as techmarine, fourth company armoured division. 867.M41- Engagement with Xenos bioforms- designation Tyranid, hive Gorgon. Part of armored column responsible for slaying broodlord. 892.M41- Promotion as Optio in the ranks of the Techmarines. 907.M41- Partook in the campaign against Warboss Eadkrhaka, critical losses suffered, defense of home system successful. 9XX.M41- Secondment to the deathwatch. oh and of course all subject to GM approval. Hope you enjoy the little story I present here. Here is a link to the liber astartes post about the chapter. I will probably be updating it as I go to flesh out the chapter for the future. grailkeeper
Name Brother Rapheal Bruegel Chapter of Origin: Blood Angels Role on Induction: Assault Marine Appearance Pale with long golden tresses, Brother Bruegel is the very image of one of the Emperor's own angels. His youthful appearance has been the source of jibes from his brothers, who have been known to ask if he is a neophyte who has stolen his armour. This is the source of some irritation for Brother Bruegel. Self portait.Unarmoured. Personality Brother Bruegel seeks to be a paragon of the angelic virtues. He is very far from his goal. He has been criticised by more senior figures in his chapter for his impetuous nature. Ironically it is hoped that his time with the Deathwatch will instill a more sanguine humour in Bruegel. He is perhaps not as easy a companion as he would like to imagine he is. What he considers wry banter tends to come across as mordant and withering. He is outgoing and deals well with non-astartes, even if he has a tendency not to watch his words with care. Like many in his chapter he is a skilled painter. Petragor
Here is my first Draft, feel free to give feedback Name: Brother Chaka Embe Chapter of Origin: Celestial Lions Role upon Induction: Assault Marine Appearance: Dark skin, right forearm of his Power Armor is decorated with the white Silhouette of a Battle-Barge, and underneath it the text "Serenkai". Personality: Chaka is quite interested in various Voidships, particularly those built for war. To him, there is no better ship than a full Battle Barge, specifically the Serenkai Battle Barge of his home chapter. He has great knowledge of Void combat, a skill he is quite proud of. He is also quite compassionate when it comes to those serving beneath him, be they Chapter Serfs, Navy or Guard troopers, even servitors while comparatively weak are important parts of the Imperium, and are part of the reason he, and the rest of the Astartes, can defend Mankind as they do. They must be protected, for a ship without its crew is little but a dead hulk. History: After completing his training and becoming a full Battle Brother of the Celestial Lions, Chaka was assigned to the Battle Barge Serenkai, to be part of the ships boarding crews. He has been part of and defended against many boarding actions, against pirates, orks and drukhari raiders, all of whichfell beneath the might of the Serenkai and her crew. He spent his time off observing the operations of the ship, the Bridge, the Guns, the Engine, to see how it all fit together creating a force to be reckoned with. He soon gained an interest in void-combat war games, which he would play with his Brothers, and sometimes even the bridge crew. However, in a recent battle against the Ork menace, the Serenkai was damaged and forced to return to port for extensive repairs. Chaka, despite his love for the ship, wasn't looking forward to either guarding the ship while docked for up to several years, so when he got a chance to join the Deathwatch he took it, reasoning that he could take a tour with and return to his chapter in glory, just in time to rejoin a newly repaired Serenkai on her quest to cleanse the void. Deadass
Castor Boros, Unhelmed. Timestamp: 898.M41 Brother Castor BorosChapter of Origin: Angels RevenantRole upon Induction: Tactical Space MarineDeathwatch Specialism: Deathwatch Devastator MarineCharacter Sheet: [...]HistoryCastor Boros was inducted into the Angels Revenant Chapter in the wake of the Storm Tide, an era of tumultuous Warp Squalls within the Orpheus Sector that have not abated to this day. The unceasing assault by the Neverborn and their lackeys on the protectorate of the Angels puts considerable strains on their members, yet the Space Marines prevail. Dutiful service in the Scout- and Devastator Reserve soon placed Boros in the Angels Revenant 8th Company, where he was injured fighting off a Warp-borne incursion onboard the company’s strike cruiser. While he would survive, Boros did experience a spiritual crisis, fearing the taint of the Empyrean upon his soul. It was a brother of the Reclusiam who mended his shaken resolve, reigniting a fervour that eventually saw him enter the ranks of the chapter’s 6th company as a Tactical Space Marine.855.M41 - Drafted by the Angels Revenant Chapter on Patara, Segmentum Tempestus. Initiation as Neophyte. Age: 13 years, Terran Standard.860.M41 - First deployment as part of 10th Company (Scouts). Reconnaissance operations investigating Xenos activity.869.M41 - Advance to 6th Squad, 9th Company (Devastator Reserve). Age: 27 Years, Terran Standard.872.M41 - Riot suppression actions in Sub-Sector Deluvia.883.M41 - Advance to 1st Squad, 8th Company (Assault Reserve). Age: 41 Years, Terran Standard.889.M41 - Shock assault deployments against the Eldar Corsairs of the Hesod Nebula. Cited for personal valor.893.M41 - Gellar Field failure aboard the Fiery Halo. WIA; return to active duty three weeks later.900.M41 - Advance to 5th Squad, 6th Company (Tactical Reserve). Age: 58 Years, Terran Standard.9XX.M41 - Secondment to the Deathwatch; transfer to Watch-Fortress Azurea. Age: X Years, Terran Standard.PersonalityBoros’ demeanour carries much of the nobility synonymous with the line of the Ultramarines, appearing as the God-Emperor’s hallowed knight to boot. A strong sense of honour, rigid loyalty to the Golden Throne and the merciless efficiency inherent to his kind made the Revenant a well-respected, if overeager member of his parent chapter early on in his career. The only aspect of his character able to match his religious fervour - and, indeed, outshine it on occasion - is his foul temper. Though it has proven itself a sharp blade in the heat of combat, he is known to have extended his ire to his allies over slights both real and imagined, particularly in regard to his faith. It is a wretched, hot-blooded thing; an imperfection that has made the Space Marine rueful at times. Boros intends to expunge his character flaw through exposure to the myriad cultures and personalities within the Deathwatch and one day achieve the equilibrium required to don the skull helm and crozius of a Chaplain.AppearanceOf average size and build for an Astartes, Boros measures approximately 2.09 metres in height and some 320 kilograms in weight. A dusky, ageless face frames his eyes; two pools of dark, almost blackish brown that lend his gaze a property variably described as inscrutable or captivating. His slab-like features are marred by an ugly, sutured scar to the right, earned long ago, yet never healing properly. Following the events onboard the Fiery Halo, Boros donned a tattoo of the Imperial Aquila, symbolising his utter devotion to the Imperial Creed and its undying master. ++++++++++ So, that's the character I've been writing up with CM's approval. There's more to be said about his appearance and personal opinions, which I'll add as his character sheet is being generated and we inch closer to the start of Episode III. In case this is important, I'm happy to have Boros be part of either Swordhand or Gallowbane - whatever is more convenient for the narrative. Komrade_Atomic
Alrighty, here's Gabriel Thire, Silver Skull. Just a heads up, my writing isn't great, so don't expect an amazing level of prose like the other pieces. - - - Gabriel Thire - Tactical Marine of the Silver Skulls Role: Tactical Marine/Weapon Specialist Backstory: Gabriel Thire is one amongst the proud Silver Skulls Chapter, a Tactical Marine within the Third Battle Company, and well versed with tactics and strategies, and proving to be a valuable asset to his Squad, whatever the situation. While a neophyte, he was originally the butt of a joke, due to his open-mindedness and willingness to learn, until an engagement with Orks shifted his fellow Neophytes opinions of him. When a mekboy triggered a experimental EMP, the squad's vox links were broken, and his scout squad was left stranded. They stumbled across a valley filled to the brim with explosives, clearly a trap intended for the approaching Imperial Armored Convoy. But after being stumbled upon by a patrol of Boyz, their squad was trapped. With orks closing in, Iroquois volunteered to run back and warn the Imperial Armored Convoy. Gabriel managed to alert the Armored Convoy of the explosive presence, and as the main force diverted to avoid the trap, Iroquois and a Storm Eagle of Astartes flew back to his Squads position, successfully extracting the squad before the Boyz overran them. Later, In the time of his service as an Tactical Marine, a prophecy foretold Gabriel’s Squad to venture out into the stars, amongst the retinue of a Rogue Trader. For several years, Gabriel accompanied a Rogue Trader, and was amazed with sights of new discovered planets, fought against both Xenos and Heretics, and the experience remains with him. But, Soon after his return, a Prognosticator had summoned Gabriel and his Company Captain, telling him of a sign. An emperor’s tarot card, beckoned to Gabriel, but refused to show it’s true intent. Merging, shifting and changing, the Prognosticator believed that Gabriel's fate could not be discerned by the Prognosticators and that Gabriel's himself must discover where his fate lies. As the card shifted and changed, Gabriel noticed the fog slowly shift and change into the symbol of the deathwatch, before disappearing. Seeking out his future, he immediately petitioned for service with the Watch, determined to discover his fate, whatever it may be. Personality: Gabriel is a noble and fearless brother, much like his brethren, but he is something of an oddity in regards to his brothers. Open-minded, Gabriel rather prefers spending his time expanding his knowledge, rather than endless drills of combat. Nonetheless, Gabriel is still a skilled combatant, having claimed the skull of a Drukhari Wych while in service as an Assault Marine. Thanks to his time with the Rogue Trader's retinue, he is more understanding of Human Culture than his brothers, and so has often been called upon by his Company Captain to serve as a dignitary for the Third Battle Company. When in converse with other Astartes, Gabriel always puts thought to his words, rarely acting brashly or out of sort, but knows when to have a sense of humor, especially with Astartes from more boastful and lively Chapters, such as the Space Wolves. Appearance: Much like all Astartes, Gabriel is something of a giant to a mortal man, standing tall over Humans and being an intimidating presence on the battlefield, by height solely alone. His face is home to a wry smile, and holds some warmth, amidst the otherwise imposing and intimidating appearance. Gabriel has a tanned skin, but amongst that, honor markings are tattooed on his forehead, a symbol of battle. Clean-Shaven and his hair slicked back, Gabriel takes some care on his appearance. However, this is primarily for time spent in the company of Humans and Diplomats. Other than that, he keeps his helmet on, and never discards his helmet in combat, except for times of the chapter's honor. In regards to his Armour, he dons MK 9 Errant, and despite the added bulk of the neck protection, his armour's machine-spirit moves smoothly, adding to Iroquois' already impressive speed. In regards of decoration, on his waist, some Silver Skulls are attached to the waist, although when in the presence of Human Diplomats, Iroquois sometimes removes them. On his right Pauldron, his first name is inscribed. --- Like I said before, writing isn't my strong point. I hope it's up to standard though! Commissar Molotov
Hi Komrade - given that "Iroquois" is the name of an actual Native American tribe, I feel as though it breaks the immersion a little bit for me. Is there any chance you could look to change the name somewhat? I love Thire as the last name, but I think a different first name would help. If you're unsure, have a look at the 40k Wiki for some inspiration. Also, how cool is this piece of art? Komrk: Just a note; your backstory as presented suggests that Kol has been serving in the Deathwatch for almost fifty years. That's a long time, especially compared to the others. Perhaps we could do something to reduce that length, so it's somewhat more similar to the other brothers? Alternately, you can play up the "old man" aspect - he will have seen a lot of brothers come and go (some violently!) - depends what you think. Petragor: My one thing is that perhaps Embe's character is a little too limited by only focusing on void warfare? I'd think that a Warrior of the Astartes - especially one assigned to the Watch - would have a bit of a broader range of experience? Could it be something to look at? Brother Argent
Brother Argent: Just as a note, the intention is that you will be an Apothecary. I think Watch-Captain Diocles would be rather stern with his viewpoint that not using your skills is detrimental to both Pallan and to his brethren. (If that really doesn't work for your character concept, I can see if another player can switch to Apothecary.) This is fine. The more I think about it, regardless of what Pallan has been through, he would still use all his skills to keep his Brothers and comrades well. Perhaps even more so, becoming obsessive in his drive to perfect every nuance of his craft so that maybe this time he can save those he feels he failed last time. And Emperor have mercy on any whom threaten any gene-seed he may end up taking, as he will not. Jeremy.Phillips
Brother Argus Chapter: Blood Ravens Role: Tactical Marine Role before induction: Sergeant, Tactical Squad, 4th Company Appearance: Brother Argus sports a closely cropped beard, dark brown in color, with his head shaven cleanly. He has one silver service stud in the right side of his forehead denoting his first half-century of service. His skin is well tanned from fighting under dozens of suns. His eyes are a pale blue under bushy eyebrows. He is of average build for an Astartes. His right arm is covered in scar tissue from fingertip to shoulder from a plasma burn. History prior to ascension: Brother Argus was born on the Civilized world of Cyrene, the youngest son of a poor farming family. He endeavored to leave the life of unrelenting toil in the dirt behind and journey across the stars for the glory of the Emperor. During the Blood Trials he learned that although he could win many battles with his ferocity it was only through using his mind that he could ensure total victory. Personality: After being promoted to a commanding role he has become quieter and more introspective, at times appearing uneasy with the responsibility. However, since his assignment to the Deathwatch he has regained some of his quick wit (which some find insufferable) with his new brothers. He quickly places trust in those who show intelligence, or at least competence in their roles. Like many other Blood Ravens he particularly venerates those in the role of librarians. He tends to dislike those who act in haste. He also has a natural curiosity which those outside of his chapter may find distasteful. History: With almost a full century of service in the Blood Ravens, Brother Argus has served in many positions. Although he has proven himself capable as devastator or assault marine, or even as a scout, it was the role of tactical marine in which he truly thrived. His strategic mind, adaptability in engagements, as well as his ability with bolter or chainsword earned him his promotion to Sergeant where he has served with distinction for the past decade. After the Selucia campaign, Argus was almost assured of promotion to either higher command or the ranks of his chapter’s veterans. However, it was then that Argus volunteered for the Deathwatch, stating he had much to learn about the foes he may encounter in the future. For Argus service in the Deathwatch is an opportunity to obtain knowledge about xenos, the tactics of other Space Marine Chapters, and possibly more. Notable Actions: Battle Barge Dauntless – Commanded the defense of the Battle Barge’s enginarium against an Ork Boarding party The Selucia Insurrection – Planned and led the infiltration of Hive Secundus via the industrial waste tunnels into the underhive. From there launched attacks on the Hive’s electrical infrastructure causing the defense system to fail. This enabled a drop pod assault to lay waste to the command echelon which quickly brought the insurrection to an end. Mojake
Name: Brother Codicier Achillion Chapter: Angels Encarmine Rank: Codicier of the Order of the Crimson Dawn Deathwatch Specialism: Librarian (Battle-Psyker) Psychic Aptitudes: Telepathy Discipline & Sanguinary Discipline Personality: Brother Codicier Achillion is known for his lust for battle, more often than not forgoing sleep when not on a mission to train further in the sparring cages. He treats every Astartes and affiliate of the Deathwatch with the respect that their rank deserves, unless they show hesitation or reservation with frontal assaults. To him, the final breath of his enemy and the light leaving their eyes is almost euphoric, and any being who does not share this bloodlust is weak in his eyes. Achillion speaks with confidence when required, but his disfiguration often causes his words to sound like a gargling snarl. He holds the appearance of his equipment in high regard. Due to his facial scars, he prefers to take a backseat in friendly negotiation - sometimes using his psychic talents to influence conversations or probe deep into the mind of those he finds suspicious, but he is more than happy to take the forefront when it comes to intimidation tactics, excelling at instilling fear in those susceptible to such pathetic concepts. Achillion is an efficient Space Marine. The natural suspicion that accompanies members of the Librarius is compounded in his case due to the unabated ferocity with which he fights, with some reports observing Achillion eschewing standard combat forms for duelling displays that sacrifice defensiveness in favour of extracting greater volumes of viscera from his foes. Members of Kill-Teams that served alongside Achillion have spoken of rumours where the Codicier would not be seen for days following particularly bloody battles, adding that violent shakes would wrack his form as he made his way into temporary isolation to meditate, or to the sparring cages to destroy servitors for days without rest. Appearance: Brother Codicier Achillion is roughly average height for an Astartes. He sports medium length wavy, blonde hair and his eyes are a light grey-blue. Some may have said that he was a beautiful man, if not for the pink burn scar on the lower left side of his face, curling up and over his eye. The ridged skin pulls taut the lower side of his face and brow, creating a perpetual grimace. The movements of Achillion are sharp and fast, and his body appears to vibrate with unspent kinetic energy, as if he could snap into lethal action at any moment. His armour is that of polished Mark VII Aquila, maintained to perfection and fitted with a psychic hood. The accents of blue that portray him as a member of the Librarium outline the symbol of the Angels Encarmine upon his left shoulder, and a Horned Skull sits menacingly upon his right. A tabard of yellow, embellished with black bands and lightning bolts hangs proudly from his armour. In battle, Achillion is renowned for charging headlong into the fray, with crackling psychic energy pouring from one hand and his Baalite Steel Force Axe in the other. Some brothers claim to have seen the psyker soar into enemy battlelines borne aloft on great crimson wings - others dismiss this as fallacy.
