Xenith
++Stone Crusher Carnifex++ We have a new unit of the week! Having already discussed all units in the standard codex, we're moving on to Forge World datasheets. This week it's the pointy cousin of the regular Carnifex, the Stone Crusher. What are you thoughts, and how best would you use it? To compliment a list, or to build a list around? Will the beta rules affect your list(s)? What size unit? Will you be running multiple units? What Hive Fleet Traits, Adaptative Physiologies and Stratagems do you prefer and how much does it depend on the above choices? Are you buffing this unit? If so, how? Uses in Matched, Narrative and Open Play Over to you. Xenith
A quick look at the datasheet makes the SCC seem pretty good as far as other monsters in the book go - up to 8 S8 attacks at D2, however when you parse that down into actual models killed, with the measly WS4+ you're looking at 3-4 guardsmen dead, with the best you're achieving probably 4 dead primaris, or maybe 1 dead Gravis equivalent. Now that orks are T5, a bad roll on the wound dice, say 2245 will mean your big bad model kills 2 ork boys. Not great. The claws seem interesting, allowing rerolling of all hits, which is undoubtedly a weakness of the carnifex chassis, you'll maybe get the same number of wounds through on infantry, while being much better vs vehicles. Thus, I think the claws are the better option all round.
