Hello Space Marines,

The 9.0 - QoL Update is live now on every platform. ⚙️

This patch brings lots of balancing tweaks in both PVP and PVE, including Siege Mode. It also aims to improve stability issues and fix crashes.

a70306b9ee644d2831a59d425d4e0a3fd79dc557.png

Here are the topics covered, in order:

  • Datavault Update

  • Gameplay and Balancing tweaks

  • PVE melee weapons

  • PVE firearm weapons

  • Class Perks update

  • Firearms (PVE only)

  • Combat - quality of life

  • Siege Mode

  • PVP

  • AI

  • Customisation

  • General fixes

  • Tech

DATAVAULT UPDATE

  • New Ordeals for Siege mode

  • New Datavault reward screen, with updated UX

  • New entity Trygon in the Tyranids tab in the Datavault

We are adjusting Datavault UI and internal unlock logic to make it expandable in the future, so adding new entries to it would not affect already given out rewards.

- Dmitry Grigorenko, Game Director.

GAMEPLAY AND BALANCING TWEAKS

Assault Ground Pound Damage:

  • Chainsword and Power Sword ground pound damage increased to match Power Fist and Thunder Hammer's one.

This change should add more variety to Assault's class builds, because all of the "one-shot" builds implied having a Thunder Hammer or a Power Fist exclusively.

- Dmitry Grigorenko, Game Director.

PVE MELEE WEAPONS

With this update we want to rework all of the melee weapon versions. The stats distribution was too complex between different tiers and wasn't following the same ruleset as firearms, where Relic tier weapons are strictly better than Artificer ones.

This is a massive overhaul and a lot of popular versions may become less effective than they used to be and vice versa. We are going to make another pass at this if necessary, but we think that we need to do a clean up here first to move forward.

- Dmitry Grigorenko, Game Director.

PvE Melee Weapon Progression Update

Progression for all melee weapons has been updated to streamline the experience. Relic versions of the melee weapons will now always have better stats than artificer weapons and distribution of the stats is going to follow these principles:

  • Balanced weapons have moderate damage and moderate speed.

  • Fencing weapons offer the fastest speed but have the lowest damage.

  • Block weapons are the slowest but deliver the highest damage.

PVE FIREARM WEAPONS

Our stats show that all of the firearms balance is in a good spot right now and all weapons are Absolute viable. While some of the weapon archetypes are more popular and more effective than the other ones, with this patch we wanted to focus on actual versions' balance.

Some of the versions within archetype were underpicked and thus we would like to do a big pass on those, obviously. But in addition to that we feel like some of the versions didn't stand out much from their counterparts. Therefore, we wanted to increase the stats difference to make sure that the choice is more meaningful.

- Dmitry Grigorenko, Game Director.

CLASS PERKS UPDATE

Assault Perks Update:

  • "Winged Fury": The perk has been reworked, the new version is: Damage from Melee Attacks executed while sprinting or dashing increases by 100%. Deals area-of-effect Damage within a 7-metre radius. Cooldown is 5 seconds.

Note: The AoE is not working properly on this perk. This will be fixed in the next patch

  • "Defense Mechanism": The perk has been reworked, the new version is: Contested Health fades 50% more slowly.

  • "Act of Attrition": Damage is increased from 10 to 15%.

  • "Smiting Angel": Damage increase from 10 to 25%

  • "Hammer of Wrath": The perk has been reworked, the new version is: After use Jump Pack, you take 30% less Ranged Damage, do not lose control upon taking Heavy Hits, and cannot be knocked back for 15 seconds

Heavy Perks Update:

  • "Thermal Boost": The perk has been reworked, the new version is: When a Ranged Weapon is 50% Overheated or you have 50% ammo in Magazine, Ranged Damage increases by 15%.

b8626bb66bdc445bb08eeb0ce8be5764b80fe0ed.png

FIREARMS (PVE ONLY)

Aux Grenade Launcher:

  • Increased the amount of grenades received for the grenade launcher from pickups from 50% to 75%.

Inferno Pistol:

  • Base Damage increased by 15%.

  • Gun Strike damage is increased by 20%

  • Gunstrike damage and knockback radius increased by 100%.

  • Fixed typo in "Motivated Melee" perk description (the perk triggers if magazine is empty, not when your ammo reservers are empty)

We want to make Inferno Pistol as a dedicated crowd control weapon, rather than a Gun Strike damage dealer type of a weapon, because Heavy Bolt Pistol already fills this niche. That being said, that niche is currently too specific and we want to make sure that Inferno Pistol performs well enough outside of it.

- Dmitry Grigorenko, Game Director.

Bolt Pistol:

  • Gunstrike damage increased by 25%.

Neo-Volkite Pistol:

  • Contested health recovery has been greatly increased and is now in line with other pistols

COMBAT QOL

  • Added Anti-Stunlock Heavy Hit Diminishing Features: If a player receives multiple heavy hits in quick succession, the duration of the next heavy hit will be reduced to 80%, and the duration of the third and subsequent heavy hits will be reduced to 60%.

  • Assault is now invulnerable during his ground pound "landed" animation

Assault class has received multiple buffs this patch and I would like to talk about it a bit more.

We heard your feedback regarding the Assault class being too weak and we agree, but to a point. The amount of effort it takes to play it right doesn't outweigh the benefits, which shouldn't be the case. However, the Assault class can one shot most of the enemies on hardest difficulty, it is already very strong against Tyranids, yet against Chaos it struggles a lot. So we think that the problem isn't in the Assault kit itself, it's the Chaos army composition and that will be changed soon.

The buffs will make Assault better and more fun to play, but the core problem will be addressed in the next content patch.

- Dmitry Grigorenko, Game Director.

  • Fixed several issues Power Sword stance changing during certain animations

The behavior should be very close to pre patch 8. However, we can't match them 1:1 because some of its behavior was only working because of a bug that we have to fix and because of the cool new little functionality that will be introduced in the next patch.

- Dmitry Grigorenko, Game Director.

  • Charge progress of Plasma Incinerator will no longer reset when Heavy enters heavy stance

  • Lots of minor improvements to general responsiveness of controls in combat

c79affde4a2a8c9d04e938a6f60af8301573efbb.png

SIEGE MODE

Siege Mode Shop Balance Tweak:

  • Guardian relic cost reduced 300 -> 200.

  • Armor Kit cost reduced 60 -> 30.

  • Dreadnought cost reduced 1500 -> 1250.

  • Guardsman cost reduced:

- Tier 1 100->100

- Tier 2 125->125

- Tier 3 150->150

- Tier 4 200->175

- Tier 5 250->200

Increased Guardsmen HP and Damage:

  • +50% for Normal difficulty.

  • +100% for Hard difficulty.

Dreadnought time increased 3 min -> 5 min.

Streamlined Terminus enemies spawn logic after 16th wave:

  • Every 3rd wave can spawn 1-2 Terminus enemies.

  • Every 5th wave can spawn 2-3 Terminus enemies.

Previous logic used to be too complex and depended on a sector, sometimes causing 30+ waves easier than 20+ waves. This change shouldn't affect game difficulty but rather make it predictable.

- Dmitry Grigorenko, Game Director.

  • Fixed multiple issues with enemy spawns.

  • Fixed multiple issues with enemies getting stuck at their spawns.

  • Fixed multiple issues with not being able to progress to the next sector.

  • Fixed a lot of minor issues with Siege level geometry and collision.

  • Completing waves as Assault class will now unlock Inferno Pistol skins.

  • Fixed: Blocking weapons do not apply "increased damage taken after perfect parry" debuff on enemies in some cases

  • Fixed: VFX of explosions and smoke displayed to players in the form of large orbs in some rare cases

TECH

  • Crash fixes and general stability improvements.

  • Matchmaking and network stability fixes.

Unfortunately, this patch doesn't have a fix for the top 1 server crash that plagues our community in Siege mode right now.

This has been a very difficult problem to identify for us and we've been working on a solution since patch 8.1 and are going to continue to work on the fix and deploy it as soon as possible.

We know that this has been very frustrating, please excuse us, I can only assure you that this is our top priority right now.

- Dmitry Grigorenko, Game Director.

  • Minor performance and memory optimisations.

  • Improvements to game modding capabilities

Hello Space Marines,

Since it’s summer and everyone deserves a break, please expect fewer updates in August. This Community Update will be shorter than usual, but we promise it’s filled with good news!

SM2_Separateur_1920.png

A WHOLE NEW YEAR OF FREE CONTENT

IS COMING

As announced last month, a second year of content is in the making, with both free and DLC content. This second year means a new Season Pass too! This new Season Pass will grant players access to the new DLC content. Overall, it will work the same way as Year 1 did. Let’s see what’s going to be free:

NEW PVP MAP

Let’s begin with the new PvP map. Set on Avarax, it is a mix of close quarters and long hallways. This fifth map will be available for every PvP game mode.

AD_4nXcYlHu6RTxkUdk0oHW1ERWVbKEkeMly4w5o5uASzRnhqUxtrulybkltzyBhZcx29S3JXB0r8UJleJiQzG9CwgxnE0Q9Oy8uUR_SzW9UHzsJcMsc9roSfZeeHgSpaRX_17QD1xnAIg?key=BoPYub_ZPXTGzX9cL1X1EA

Development still ongoing, final version subject to change.

NEW GAME MODE: HELBRUTE ONSLAUGHT

This new map will be introduced with Patch 10.0, and will coincide with the release of the new PvP game mode “Helbrute Onslaught”

Two teams of Chaos Marines will fight to control strategic areas, but also to take control of the Helbrute. The first team to take control of an objective gets to control the Helbrute, until the opposite team takes it down. One player gets to control the Helbrute at a time, and this player will be picked randomly among players who participated in securing the control point. To have the Helbrute on their side, the team that failed to secure the first control point will need to slay the Helbrute before securing a new designated control point. Controlling the Helbrute grants the team a strong advantage, but killing it will also reward points to the opposite team.

The Helbrute uses a Helbrute Thunder Hammer in melee, and a Plasma Cannon in range.

NEW WEAPONS: PYRECANNON

New weapons will also be added! Last month, we revealed the Power Axe, this month we’re happy to show you the Pyrecannon! This weapon is ideal to dispatch the hordes.

NEW MAJORIS ENEMY: CHAOS SPAWN

A new Majoris enemy will also reinforce the Chaos forces: the Chaos Spawn. This abomination has 3 different variations, each with their own moveset and abilities. Take a look at one of them:

chaos_spanw,_cropped.png

NEW GAME MODE AND MODIFIERS

Finally, a new variation will be added to PvE to bring replayability to the game. Some of you might remember when the 4.0 update brought a modifier that forced team members to stay close to each other to get their shield back. Following your feedback, we decided to remove this feature to rework it and bring it back later, integrated in a new game mode, along with new gameplay modifiers each week.

This new game mode will come with Patch 10.0 (the specific modifier mentioned above will be implemented later, though). New free cosmetics and exotic weapons will also be granted for the completion of this new challenge. Stay tuned, we’ll reveal more on that later.

THE YEAR 2 SEASON PASS IS ON ITS WAY

Without spoiling too much, we can already tease you about a few things:

  • First of all, the Black Templar Champion will be the first Champion of the Year 2 Season Pass (coming with Patch 10.0). It will be associated with the Bulwark class.

  • There will be brand new Chapters, as well as returning Chapters.

  • And last but not least: this second Season Pass is coming with Patch 10.0 and will be available for purchase in September!

HOTFIX 8.1

Following the release of the 8.0 Siege Update, some of you reported connection instability, and crashes. The 8.1 Hotfix aimed to fix these issues. You can check out the full changelog here

PATCH 9.0

Patch 9.0 was rolled out a few days ago. You can read the patch notes here.

We saw your feedback on blocking weapons being too slow now. The goal of the patch was to establish an even field for all of the weapon variants and simplify weapon progression rules with almost 100 different weapon variants saw changes. We will continue to work with your feedback and make necessary adjustments.

Also, we wish to acknowledge the persistent connectivity issues. While this patch won’t fully solve them, please know that we’re actively investigating the root causes and continuing to work toward a long-term solution.

Quote

Greetings Space Marines,

We hope you had a wonderful and sunny summertime.

The whole team wants to thank you for the warm welcome you gave to the previous Community Update. We were so pleased to see your enthusiasm for the Chaos Spawn, Black Templars, the new PVP game mode, etc!

You also asked us for news about Techmarine, and we've got some this month!

This Community Update has a bunch of surprises and a community survey, so read it carefully!

Let’s start off with the BIG news!

YEAR 2 IS JUST ROUND THE CORNER!

We’re so close! The second year of content for Space Marine 2 is about to begin.

Let’s take a look at the free content first and then DLC Content, in this trailer!

Expect the Patches to be released at a similar pace to what we were used to during the first year of content updates. Several PVE missions, the Techmarine class coming with Patch 12, cosmetics for Blood Angels, Carcharodons, Iron Hands and much more await with this Season Pass.

Check the Roadmap!

PATCH 10 - ANNIVERSARY UPDATE

The Anniversary Update is planned to be rolled out on September 4! It’s a free update, but also marks the release of the Season Pass II and its first two DLCs.

Let’s see the content of this Patch in more detail, shall we?

THE CHAOS ARMOUR PACK:

The Chaos Armour Pack is coming for free. You’ll finally be able to change the armour set of your Heretic Astartes in PvP, but you’ll have to unlock the set first. Each class will require you to score a certain amount of kills per match to unlock the corresponding skin.

NEW GAME MODES:

HELBRUTE ONSLAUGHT (PVP)

A brand new mode will be added with this update, and will be playable on all maps. Here’s your brief:

Two teams of Chaos Marines will fight to control strategic areas, but also to take control of the Helbrute. The first team to take control of an objective gets to control the Helbrute, until the opposite team takes it down. One player gets to control the Helbrute at a time, and this player will be picked randomly among players who participated in securing the control point. For the team that failed to secure the first control point to have the Helbrute on their side, they will need to slay their opponents’ Helbrute and secure a new designated control point.

Controlling the Helbrute grants the team a strong advantage, but killing it rewards significant amounts of points to your team. One last thing, the Helbrute uses a Helbrute Thunder Hammer in melee, and a Plasma Cannon in range, and it can unleash a battle cry with its special skill to regenerate its HP.

STRATAGEMS (PVE)

Stratagems are a completely new PvE game mode. Unlike “classic” Operations, there are only 2 difficulty modes: “Normal” and “Hard”. What makes this new game mode different are the various Battlefield Conditions, which will change every day and week and make each operation completely different from what you’re used to.

Battlefield Conditions can either help or hinder your progress. Upon successful completion, you will receive a new currency called “Accolades”, which can be exchanged for valuable rewards.

There are weekly and daily Stratagems, and each Operation has their own set of modifiers. Here are a few examples of them:

  • Summoner: Every uninterrupted call for Reinforcements summons the Extremis enemy.

  • Where you aiming at: Friendly fire damage from firearms and explosives is enabled

  • Cadia Stands: Imperial Guards spawn on levels.

  • Hunted: An unkillable Lictor constantly pursues you. Dealing enough damage will scare it away for a brief time.

And many others that you’ll have to discover for yourself!

NEW PVP AND PVE MAPS

OPERATION: VORTEX

The Astropathic Relay has once again fallen silent. Investigate and cleanse the relay of any lingering heretical presence.

This map has a special, unique boss, the Mutalith Vortex Beast. We don’t want to spoil too much, you’ll have to wait for the update to drop on September 4 to discover its moveset!

ETERNAL WAR MAP - BRIDGE

A new PvP map will also be added, called “Bridge”. With long hallways and small tunnels, this map offers diversified battles and multiple possible strategies to dominate the battlefield.

Here’s how it looks:

WEAPONS TO BE ADDED IN THE ARMOURY

Two months ago, we showed you the Power Axe for the first time. Today, let us introduce the Power Axe in action!

Hero Weapon Variants will also be implemented. These variations can be exchanged against Accolades (from playing Stratagems Mode, more on that new mode below). They fall in a new mastery tier named Heroic, which is even more powerful than Relic. For example, here’s the Xenophase Blade, the Heroic version of the Power Sword, and the Combi Melta, the Heroic version of the Bolt Rifle:

NEW MAJORIS ENEMY: CHAOS SPAWN

Brace yourself Space Marines, this one might give you a hard time. Coming with a total of 3 variations, the Chaos Spawn enters the fight.

Swifter and more agile than its bulk suggests, the Chaos Spawn constitutes a formidable enemy.

Stand ready. We shall know no fear. ⚔️

WHAT ELSE?

A selection of skins that were initially unlockable through time-sensitive Community Events will be purchasable in exchange of your Accolades earned in Stratagem mode, in the "Refinement & Redemption" shop (which extends the current "Data Refinement" shop that was used until then to trade your Requisition points and Armoury Data).

Among them: the Porphyr Shield Chainsword Skin, the Mark X Tacticus breastplate with the 3 skulls, or the Sergeant Metaurus’s Iron Halo from the Secret Level episode.

This patch has more surprises in store, but we've already revealed enough! Let's keep some suspense for September 4, when it will be released!

NEW DLC COSMETICS

The Anniversary Update brings Season Pass 2! Discover the first two Chapters available in this patch: the Black Templars and the Imperial Fists.

BLACK TEMPLARS CHAMPION PACK (Bulwark)

The first class to receive a Champion as part of the Season Pass 2 is the Bulwark! We know how much you enjoy this class, so we naturally wanted to pair it with one of the most appreciated chapters from the Grim Dark future, the Black Templars!

In addition, the Black Templars Champion Pack brings a unique skin for the Power Sword, as well as a Storm Shield and a unique Chapter Banner.

IMPERIAL FISTS COSMETIC PACK

The Imperial Fists is the first returning chapter of this year’s Season Pass II! Complete your Champion Pack with over 40 new cosmetics and heraldry marking inspired by 7 of their Successor Chapters, including:

  • Celestial Lions

  • Hammers of Dorn

  • Invaders

  • Red Templar

  • Sons of the Phoenix

  • Subjugators

  • Crimson Fists

CHAMPION SKIN CUSTOMISATION

Moreover, Champion skin customisation is now available. You can mix the various armour parts of the Champions, for instance you can put the Dark Angels Champion’s helmet on an Assault Marine and mix it with the Imperial Fists Champion’s pauldrons.

However, please note that not every armour part will be available for mixing in every class. For example, the Dark Angels Champion’s helmet can’t be equipped on the Sniper.

Don’t hesitate to try the boldest combinations!

ANY NEWS ON THE TECHMARINE?

You expressed your enthusiasm after the announcement of our next class! Today, we are pleased to give you an estimated date for its implementation in the game. The Techmarine will join the ranks in early 2026 with patch 12!

It’s yet too early to show you any designs, even a WIP asset, or to tell you more about the specificities of this Class. But if you read the Roadmap carefully, you know that he will come with his Omnissiah Axe!

We’ll keep you posted until its release. Bear with us!

THE ULTRAMARINES CHAMPION IS BACK

The Ultramarines Champion Pack will be purchasable as a standalone DLC

For those who may not know, the Ultramarines Champion Pack was previously available only with the purchase of the Ultra Edition. Starting September 4, with the Anniversary Update, that will no longer be the case! Players who own the Standard or Gold Editions will now be able to purchase the UM Champion Pack separately. The pack includes a unique skin for the Heavy class as well as a matching skin for the Heavy Bolter.

POLL RESULTS

This month, we asked you your thoughts on a possible re-balancing of the Contested Health, by reducing the amount of contested health regenerated by ranged weapons and increasing it for melee weapons. The poll received a total of 1918 votes.

1202 of you picked in favour of a change that will increase the contested health recovery for melee weapons. You were very vocal about this potential change, let’s hear a word from our Game Director regarding this result:

We understand that this is a very touchy subject and we will be extra careful with our changes. Ranged contested health will not be nerfed globally by tweaking 1 number. It doesn't work that way, plus there are some ranged weapons which already have inefficient ranged contested health recovery.

Buffing melee contested health isn't going to just be increasing % value. There are certain Quality of Life features that need to be implemented for melee Contested HP to work properly (like CHP during grabs etc.). All of the changes on this subject will go through PTS testing first, so your feedback will be very much welcome.

Thanks for participating and helping us shape the future of the game!
