Did you pick up the Eldritch Storm Box?

Yeah the instructions could be clearer on which bolters/chainswords go on which backpack. It took me a minute to figure it out.

I haven't put together any minis yet (currently in the early WIP stages of a chaos knight) but I am very happy with some of the options on the sprues from a bits perspective. They all look pretty great! The chosen will probably be equipped with combi plasmas in the end since I already have built a bunch with power weapons.

I’m doing my chosen as Word Bearers, my Warpsmith is Iron Warriors, and haven’t decided on the fiend. I’ve got a mishmash of IW, WB, and NL because I couldn’t pick a favorite

That's... not a bad idea...

However, i can feel how Father Dorn might be scowling at me from the shelf...

I think that means you've made the right decision.

What are the Crusade rules in the campaign booklet like? I assume underwhelming but trying to convince myself to pick it up for the Chaos side.

Meh. There's traits for the Warpsmith and a Forgefiend, and two relics for the Warpsmith neither of which really struck me.

Honestly the Chosen are the highlight of the kit for me. Great sculpts, plenty of variety in gear. I'll probably turn this batch into HQs.

I split a box with my room mate, who's starting eldar.

I used the warpsmith to rebuild my own, getting rid of most of the finecast but preserving the custom sculpted head & the ape arms stolen from an old D&D mini.  I never got around to painting the previous version, hopefully I get to painting this guy before completely rebuilding him a third time.

I also used the chosen torsos to rig up a few nachmund specialists for my existing chosen squad in order to use them in kill team.  Granted chosen won't actually get most of these options - in particular the acolyte & heavy bolter.  But based on rumors I'm not overly thrilled with the new chosen rules anyway, so there's even odds I'll be running these guys as legionaries anyway.

KillTeam01

a new champion, straight out of the new kit. I like the way this guy basically just looks like a jr. chaos lord.

KillTeam02

Balefire Acolyte, using a new chosen body plus Acolyte bits off the nachmund accessory sprue.

KillTeam03

The former unit champion, converted from a chaos marine lieutenant with a warp talon head. This guy's shoulders were already magnetized (I used to be so effortful!), so I rigged up some warptalon arms to make him into a shrivetalon. Technically it's a demotion, but imo the new arms suit him, and he might get promoted all the way back up to lieutenant with yet more new arm options once the codex is out.

KillTeam04

Butcher. The squad aleady had some big axe dudes, good enough imo. Yeah the butcher's supposed to have a fancy chain axe, not a power axe, but the shrivetalon's supposed to have daggers, not actual talons. I'm taking some creative liberties here.

KillTeam05

Heavy Bolter. This guy wins the 'most likely to be subbed out in 40k' award, but the heavy bolter's a big deal in kill team, so i figured it was worth burning a chosen torso for a suitably fancy one. Though I am tempted to rip this guys arms & backpack off to use the beefier havoc heavy bolter instead - the only thing holding me back being that I'd have to order the bits off ebay.

KillTeam06

Anointed. This guy was already the most mutated looking guy in the squad, in my head he's walking a tightrope between possession and spawndom. Swapping out his power axe (again already magnetized) for a greater possessed arm, as disproportionate as it is, really just plays into everything he already has going on.
