This took about a month, which is lightning speed for me. Also tried a new blue enamel wash for pin washing and filter, as well as oil streaking and rust effect. Really pleased with how those came out. Less hyped with the use of Tamiya Clear Red over metalics for the headlights, but not bothered enough to repaint it

Having been plugging away at some Seekers and Tacticals that are both nearly done, I also managed to get a bit of practice in painting faces recently. Not sure if my photography does it justice, but really pleased with the skin tones here.

On the workbench this week: MK IV Seeker Squad almost ready for deployment. A few bits to touch up, then weathering and basing left.

Let me know what you think!

Nice idea of using that Primaris bare head. I did the same thing with my own squad (Mine is a Recon/Seeker squad, just changing weapons).

The only think that catch  my eye is the sarge's crest. Too colourful for a Seeker squad. But, you now, they Ultramarines after all...

Excellent paint job, by the way!!

+++Narrative Fragment+++

Hystona - Lythol Prime

Five years before the Calth Atrocity

In Rivax’s eastern reaches, the Krenak Hill Conurbation was burning. The once handsome, white stone hab compounds, set amidst communal squares and parkland, sat under a pall of oily smoke. Already shattered - first by invasion, then liberation - the trees, the walls and the paving slabs were stained black. Before dawn, Legion formations, supported by Veletaris cohorts and mobile artillery, had punched up from the south. Behind them came the Imperial Army and specialist purification detachments, supervised by Biologis Magi of the Mechanicum. On the heels of the Astartes advance, they were burning the xenos taint from Krenak Hill with flamers and high explosives, lit by a sickly, smoke-wreathed sun.

A popular guidebook had once described the Grand Magestik Auditorium as ‘One of the finest examples of colonial civic architecture in Rivax, and perhaps the whole of Lythol Prime. An architectural marvel of the early Imperial style’. Now, it was a shell. Crude, black powder munitions had cracked it open during the Ork invasion. Exposed to the sky, the main auditorium had then been torn apart by salvos of Quad Mortar shells as the Imperial advance pressed inexorably on. Now, covered with hastily erected tarpaulin and flak board, it served as a dressing station. The theatre’s gilded atrium and marble staircases were littered with rubble, kitbags and bloodied Veletarii awaiting tirage. A bottle of amasec, liberated from an undamaged storage locker, was being passed around among the walking wounded. To the rear of the building, the complex of offices, workshops and basements that had served the theatre for over nine decades was overrun by soldiers. In the suite of rooms that had once belonged to the Magestik’s Owner-Proprietor,  a dozen officers were gathered around a hololith table, arguing over the disposition of supporting armour elements and priorities for resupply.

Stepping out into the theatre’s service yard, Koltan Nera could taste the promethium smoke as an acrid tang at the back of his throat. The irony of the liberation was not lost on him. To cleanse Rivax of the greenskins, the Imperium was gutting the city. It was painful, tedious work. Which was one of the reasons Nera and his kind had been called for.

Clad in cobalt and gold, Nera was given a wide berth by hurrying lines of army personnel as he passed. The warriors of Hystona were waiting for him, attended by armourers as they made their final preparations for deployment. It was ninety-seven minutes since their last successful assignment, which had in turn been their third of the day. And, via the secure orbital vox array that Legion Auxilia had established in the Magestik’s cellars, Nera had just been given their fourth.

‘We have our next tasking’ Nera said, approaching the strike team. They had all shouldered arms and donned their helms as he approached. Flat-faced, Praetorian pattern, trimmed with gold.

‘Analysis of enemy resistance patterns and orbital tracking has identified a greenskin command node four kilometres to the northeast’. As he spoke, Nera produced a compact map slate and data drive from his hip pouch. He placed the slate on an ammunition crate and motioned for the squad to kneel around it with him.

‘Estimated primary location is here’ he motioned to a red rune on the map ‘in a building identified by Tactical as Artemis Barr Scholam. Possible secondary locations are indicated here, here and here in the adjacent blocks’

‘A Scholam?’ asked Baxis, studying the map with its red and amber objective markers.

‘Yes. So structurally, it will pose little challenge’ replied Nera

‘I was thinking more that it seems an appropriate place to teach the xenos a lesson in Imperial might…’

Bexis snorted at his joke. Next to him, Isak and Melander both groaned.

‘I should have you on punishment detail for your sense of humour’ replied Nera, handing Bexis the data drive. ‘Upload the mission parameters into your armour’s systems, then pass it on. Once you’re all satisfied with the particulars, I want suggestions for a tactical solution. Five minutes and we deploy’

Very smoothly done!

I’m a bit partial to a pointing arm on my leaders! Nice use of bitz all round.

Thank you! The Firstborn tactical and command kits have some great bits.

Maybe I'll have to get him a little camouflage cover for it!!

Painted tank interiors are always mad, glorious madness. I quite like the Seekers, very clean and nice paintjobs and the variation between the marines is comendable. I hope to see more!
