Any juicy lore out of the codex?

Any lore on known Chaos Votann groups?

Since they are human they can be any of the five alignments instead of Orks (Khorne, The Bloodied Rose) or Genestealer Cults (Nurgle, Genestealer Cult Codex Supplement)

Same answer as every other time you bring this up. The Kin are not human. They are a reengineered clone species based on the human template.

Kin are deliberately engineered to resist the effects of Chaos. Kin falling to Chaos in any way - physically, mentally, or spiritually - are exceptionally rare.

Seems the best place to ask a lore question:

I'm planning to kitbash a few Kin Genestealer hybrids, and wondering about a lore compliant explanation for this (going to it anyway for rule of cool but wanted to get my headcannon straight)

My thoughts are either - infected Kin add infected DNA into the cloning vats. Or infected Kin secretly make baby Kin the old fashioned way.

Are either of these plausible in currently known lore?

There is nothing in the lore that says Kin have enough control over their cloning process to introduce entirely new DNA into the mix, but there is nothing that says they cannot do so either. We only know that they do know how to manipulate the process to favor certain cloneskeins. That is a grey area.

Same with reproducing the old-fashioned way. We are not sure if they are even still capable of that. For some reason, GW chose to leave out the deep lore on what happens when the Kin bump uglies.

Infected Kin finding a way to mess with their cloning process seems like the easiest way to explain it.

Does all the cloning take place "back home" at the Votann, or for example could a scout/exploring mission of away for years have cloning machines/vats with them?

According to the codex, not every group of Kin even has a Votann. Some just have a Fane, which is a control center that is one step down from a Votann. Those groups would still be making their own new Kin wherever they are.

Would make sense for a long-term exploratory mission or colony to bring their own equipment with them to make more Kin.

Not from the codex, but someone shared this bit of lore from the latest White Dwarf. Apparently one of the fleets that got zapped by Angron's murder-curse in the latest Arks of Omen book had a group of Kin hired on as mercenaries.

Spoiler

...turned on us. They hired us as mercenaries, a solid contract drawn up with some groupmaster of their Fourth Fleet, all Wrought, then they just lost their minds! Fouled skein, the lot of them. Mutating. Shouting gibberish. Eating one another. Seen nought like it 'fore or since. Got clear and didn't look back. On the Ancestors, contract didn't cover that...

One cool thing about this is the murder-curse is powerful enough to convert even Primaris Space Marines and Adepta Sororitas into Khorne worshippers. No effect on the Kin besides making them nope out once people start eating each other.

Another cool thing is Kin appearing in 'mainstream' lore/stories. They've so far felt a bit "the squats are back! But there not actually anywhere or doing anything"
