Perhaps a banner hanging from the barrel of his gun?

Hmm, that's an idea, though I don't really have any appropriate bits. I'll have a think about that.

If you don't want to add anything more to the model bitswise, you could always put one on one of the white crest panels, or maybe a kneepad?

I really love the colours you've gone for with it, the dark blue and the green work so well together.

Thanks! The green and blue were pretty much forced as I was deliberately mixing classic Biel Tan and Dire Avenger colour schemes. I'm actually wondering now what it would have looked like with the green and white reversed...

I did think about putting the symbol on the kneepad, but it's a bit narrow and wraps around a lot, so it might not be that easy to see except from straight on. I might end up doing that anyway. Then again, I might put it on the side of the leg and have the thorn pattern curl/wrap around it. That would require some pretty clean and precise freehand, though...

It's tricky, there are two ball joints, one at the hip and one in front of the ankle, but as long as you're not being stupid like me and chopping the legs up further than the two pieces (leg and foot), it's not too bad. Once you start taking a hobby knife to the knee joints, things get a lot more complicated...

The legs themselves are straight, but because of the ball joints and the fact that there are two versions of each foot (flat and 'walking'), you can get quite a few different poses pretty easily before you even start hacking up the legs. You can also shoulder mount, wrist mount (this looks a little weird imo) and hand hold the heavy weapons. Same with the standard flamers/shurikens, though again hand holding a tiny shuriken catapult would look pretty weird I think. :P

All in all, the wraithlord kit is one of the most diverse in 40k in terms of poses, and that's before you even get the modelling tools out and start kitbashing.

Btw, just so you know, the heads I used for the Fire Dragon and Dire Avenger wraithlords actually come from the webway gate kit.

Wow! What a wonderful project idea, and so well executed. I love the old-school vibes of the Fire Dragon's colour scheme, whilst the colours and transitions on the Dire Avenger are gorgeous. Fantastic!!

Thanks mate, appreciate it!

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get another wraithlord painted last month, I wanted to get the Howling Banshee Wraithlord painted, but instead all I was able to paint was a single Howling Banshee... And this month I'm painting Jain Zar.

Hopefully, December will be the month to continue this project, though. Fingers crossed!
