Aria can get to anywere surounding the rocks imidetly to her North, or anywhere behind or in the clup of two trees and one bush North West. You can also easily reach Ravia or reach David and get inside (or a little bejond David if heading towards Varn). 

Aria

 

While others were focused on Helene or seeking cover against Davids heavy stubber Aria took the opportunity to close up, a short sprint to the cover of the trees near Helene that would provide shelter from fire and the opportunity to drive those nearby from hiding.

 

Move up into the trees, putting one of them between herself and the attackers to the west

Bandits E and F

 

Two that bandits clambered up the rock formation they had taken cover behind just enough to take a few potshots to buy some time for their comrades.

Almost comically the Bandit slip to one side, a loose clump of earth kicked up just as the laz shoot wised past, recovering within a second the Bandit continuing unfazed. Watching through the scope Ravia recalibrated for her next shot.

Full Aim at Large Vehicle

With the unsteady movement, dampened but not eliminated by David’s suspension, he took a moment to breath and focus, get a feel for the vehicle sway so as to steady and compensate.   

 

 

Dark Red and Truck Driver

Knowing that the fast manoeuvring of the truck would ruin any shot he instead took the time to exchange his damaged helmet with a spare from their supplies, while the driver finished his turn and pulled the truck into better cover before picking up his own gun.

The wine and distant explosion in the trees behind you, followed by the crash of a falling three startle you all for a moment, but then one of you spots  two of the bandits, barley visible behind the large vehicle readying another shot.

 The charge of Zealot towards them refocused their priority and they let loose with all the ammunitions their guns could deliver. Miraculously Helene emerged unscathed while the ground around here was pulverized into a fine mist of earth and vegetation.

Already moving to get a better firing position the reveal of dedicated anti armour weapon limited Ariel’s choice, seek cover or charge. Retreat was not to her likening, nor would it be to Kazimirs, that was obvious form how much attention he always paid to his sword.  

 

Accelerating up the slope an unexpected bump almost threw her out of the driver’s seat, and in the recovery she hit the accelerator hard. Hands gripping the steering wheel she wrenched it hard to one side. With this adjusted trajectory David barley missed the mist shrouded Helene.

 

 

Bandits M and N,O,P

The woof of igniting flame spewed across the slope, scorching the vegetation and nearly one of their own, all in an attempt to slow the zealot charging their line.

Helene

 

The burst of ignited promethium burns the cleric severely, though her shield robe does not catch fire.

The pain sends her stumbling, and subsequently sliding down the slope, though she recovers her wits just in time to start swinging her chainsword wildly at the heretic with the Boltgun.

A stutter and cough, belching smoke as the Cargo Hauler’s engine reluctantly came back to life.

 

Varn and Aria next

Aria:

 

The others had become scattered, and without explosives or incendiaries the greater number of the opponents would soon tell. Helene would need assistance, but first the flamer... a dangerous weapon for both friend and foe alike in these close quarters.

 

Half aim, half shoot flamer - called shot against the fuel tank if possible (offsets the bonuses from aiming)

Roll to hit: 29 vs target 50 (or 70 if called shot not available)

Damage: 2d10+3 = 7+8+3 = 18, Pen 0

 

If called shot against the flamers fuel tank isn't possible then +1d10 damage = +2 damage, total 20 vs leg

The two atop the rock formation, bereft of their original target, swapped their sights  over the trees ahead of them, they had seen one of the interlopers run into them just before the goliath sped past.

With skill and practice born from years of serves in the PDF he arced the krak grenade into the side of the goliath. Alas it proved more resilient then he had hoped, perhaps another round would do the trick.

 

 

Bandit H

Run towards tree southwards

 

The enemy was hiding in the treeline, perhaps he could slip around them for a side attack.

 

 

Aria potential dodge and Ravia next.

Aria:

 

The slightest delay nearly proved fatal as Aria realised she had spent too long lining up her shot and ducked back behind the tree, the shot ruined but the bullets that caught against her flak cloak were far too close for comfort.

 

 

Dodge roll 89  - fate point reroll 22 - hit twice for 4 and 7 vs toughness 4, armour 3 - narrow escape this time

Ravia

 

Again she aims and fires at a bandit.

Without waiting to see if the shot did damage, or even hit, Ravia moves to the next tumble of rocks. She needed to get closer to put her lascarbine to better effect.

Bandit B

With his focus elsewhere he did not even see a glint of the incoming las shoot, and thus the imparted heat flashed cooked a portion of the upper leg. Howling in pain the Bandit goes to ground.

With a strain of mechanically enhanced mussels Kasimir kept the Stubber steady, compensating for the rough movement of David, swing round the barrel to keep on truck, but it would cost him later with sore muscles. What was Lady Hu doing below?

From his new position he took a moment to reacquire the heretical machine priest, to his surprise the flash of read robes was on the move. Trigger pulled he watched through the scope the spark of rock chipping away of a near miss, the sudden movement had caught him on the heart beat and not between.

Taking his cue from the Deacons Associate he leaned out of the truck and let rip with his gun at the swirl of red cloth as the enemy clambered over some rocks.

Ravia would otherwise suffer 1 Critical Hit from the Impact (Leg) table, which would be... 10+ (Death). 

 

The autogun shot blasts into Ravia's right leg, slamming her down and ripping through armor and flesh. Her dimming thoughts are angry at the shooter and her weak flesh...

Bandits I,J

Rolls: 1+2 (lol, I guess it is a dud) + 4 = 7 Damage, insufficient to get through David 22 side armour

 

Carrying on with their task even while under fire showed the combat experience of these two, no doubt why they were entrusted with the better side of the armoury, alas the supply of munitions was perhaps a tad old. The krak round hit fair and square, but then bounced off and rolled into the grass before cratering the landscape.

 

 

Bandit L

From where she was there was no clear shot at the Goliath or its occupants, instead she tried to gain a better vantage point, one step there, find a handhold here.

 

 

Bandits B, C

 

Hearing his friend’s howl he rushed over to where he had collapsed and begun to drag him to cover. “Stay with me Eadmund, I got you”

 

Bandit D

 

Charging out the billowing flame and swinging a chainsword widely the Zealot was a terryifing sight, a less devout man would have fled in fear, he tactically withdrew instead, or so he told himself.

After the last few seconds wrestling with David’s control Aria did not want to risk causing damage, or even further damage by starting up the engine again without them having had a proper look. Instead she jumped out and sought out cover, power word drawn but not yet activated.

 

Bandits  N

 

Recovering just enough to duck during the Stubber hail she crawled forward inside the cargo hauler. The interlopers would regret coming here she thougth as she picked up the flamer that had fallen with Smokey.

 

Bandit O

Tracking and adjusting to keep the Zealot in sight he prepared to shoot down the steep embankment just as soon as the other had disengaged.

Bandit G

Dodge: 100! I hereby declare he not only fails the dodge, but as the attack would have hit is leg he has been knocked prone.

 

So focused on the battle upslope and preparing another shot was he that the arrival of the Zelots chainsword caught him by surprise, failing to scramble out of the way his back hit the ground hard.

Ravia Only

As you lie there a part of your mind you had not even been aware was there unlocks, triggered no doubt as some sort of fail safe. The audio file, waking you from the unconsciousness you had just fallen into, was but the start. Your past, or what you thought of it, was in doubt; the new memories revealed a different life in service of the Arch-Magos, one as solider, commando, enforcer. A wave of combat experience wash over you.

 

Unlike the memories of the Arch-Magos you experienced some days ago these are unmistakably viscerally yours. It is not just memories that the fail-save unlocks but dormant hidden implants, emergency repair bio-mechanical mechanism surge from your bones and knit your flesh back together before breaking down into their components, their charge spent.

 

Ravia gains 2 Simple Advancements of your choice from: WS, BS, S, T, Ag

Ravia gains 3D10 Inanity points, if this triggers one (or more) Trauma tests please roll for them and any results, see p234 onwards.

Fluff wise it is up to you what the combat experience memories are. You now know that some of what you thought of as your past service for the Arch-Magos, especially as it pertains to your role leading up to the Expedition, is at best a stretching and selective truth, and at worst right out fabrication, but you have no way to tell which. Use this as character development if you are so inclined.

Move Vehicle forward 10m, maneuver so as to pass David next turn.

As the Cargo Hauler lurches forward once more the Preacher raises his voice once more, a battle hymn that several of the others join in short order.

 

Varn and Aria Next

Aria

Conscious of her dwindling clip Aria switched fire to the armsman flanking Helene, hoping that the others nearby that had fired on her would be suitably distracted by the more immediate proximity of the chainsword.

 

Others were moving to flank and she could only hope that her concealment and the silencer on her weapon had kept her unseen by most, or that Varn and Ravia were in some position to intercept. It was too risky to look back against so many well armed foes, though their enthusiatic expenditure of ammunition might provide an opening if they could weather this storm.

 

Staying hunkered down in cover for now. Aim and fire at trooper O

Attack roll : 43 vs target 70, hit with two extra DoS

Damage rolls: 3+10+3 (RF roll 55, confirmed for +6) = total damage 22, Pen 0

Bandit O

A single voice amongst the rising Battle Hymn cuts out, the singer, owner of a particular resonant deep voice, tumbles down the slope.

 

A few other falter for a moment, but quickly catch up and try to make up for the loss by raising their own voices further.   

Varn:

 

He'd made it to the rocks where earlier he knew Ravia to be, but she had since moved. From climbing a tree he had seen where Ravia was, she looked hurt.

 

Slowly he crept like a cautious snake through the long grasses towards her. To offer healing.
