Dodge Test

Target - 14

Result = Pass, no damage taken

Bullets screamed at Ravia, pocking the Goliath body around her and one nearly hitting her arm. Concerned but not worried given the lack of skill in the shooter, she shifts her aim towards the original Wolfquad raider, as Aria and Helene are now distracting the reinforcements.

The Bandit flinched, first a chainsword wilding maniac leaped from the back of the moving Goliath and ran at them and now some Ogryn monster was there as well, shouting like a possessed. The Deacon had been right, this lot were all inhuman and hand to be cleansed. His comrade likewise recoiled at the roar and now muttered a prayer under his breath.

Bandit on Wolfquad

Dodge, Ag 35, D100: 77 Fail

Damage 12 – 3Tb = 9 Damage taken.

Ariel – GM autopilot

Snapping of a pistol shot at her attacks Ariel ducked back into the driver cabin. If their mechanized solider was out fighting someone needed to take the wheel.

Single shot at Wolfquad Bandit Beta3

BS: 27 -10 (fog) = 17

Move Half Action, move up in David to take driver’s seat. I know technical Ravia is in it at the moment. So just imagine Ariel as being ready to take it/assist Ravia with driving so that David can move next turn if required.

Unseen Bandit(s) Gamma

Adjusting his position slight the Bandit smoothly panned his rifle round, the monster in the Goliath was a deadly shot, perhaps even better than him, and had to be taken out.

Aim and Shoot at Aria with Hunting rifle

BS: 40 +10 (Aim) +10 (short range) – 10 (fog) = 50

D100:  68, Miss

Awareness against a hidden opponent is an opposed test, and despite Aria bad roll this Bandit fluffed his roll even worse. Unseen Bandit(s) Gamma become Bandit with Hunting Rifle, his position is in the tree on the right top side of the road (ravine side, you can just see the edge of the tree), his position will be added on the next map update.

Helene next.

Helene

For a split second, when the bandits drive by her, Helene sees the weapon pointed at her. She barely has time to let her life flash before her eyes, before the barrel aligns with her face and the bandit pulls the trigger, resulting in a deafening...

Click.

It jammed. That thing was aimed right at her but it just wouldn't fire. The Emperor saw her, about to meet her end, and saw fit to intervene! This was proof that hers was a righteous cause, and with renewed and reinvigored zeal, she changes course to intecept the vehicle, and swing her Chainsword at the leg of the distracted driver as she cries "WITNESS HIS WILL!"

Helene is still in melee/combat with Beta2

Already hurting from a busted arm and distracted by the monster’s roar he did not see his death, just the sound of a chainswords whirr, agony along his right side and the world tilting. His last words spluttered out in a cough of blood as his corps hit the road.

Bandit Delta2

A demonic roar drew the Bandit’s attention to the rear of the Goliath, where a monster emerged into view. These people from the stars where truly inhuman. Standing up he unleashed all that his trusted Autogun could muster.

Aria

The sniper was a problem, but the RPG was a priority. Aria swung her weapon around once more and fired off a snap-shot towards the bandit.

Her target staggered but his armour appeared to have taken the worst of the impact. With luck they would seek shelter as it was not clear whether the goliath could withstand a direct hit and remain operational.

Kazimir

The bandits got in a good shot from the rear of him that made Kazimir roar in his mechanical voice in pain as he was lightly wounded but did pierce through the layers of Armor. Immediately the grey sludge that had replaced his blood got to work repairing the damage. But he had to be careful not to lose too much of that sludge since it was hard to replace. Either way the best way to do that was to end the threat. Helene seemed to have one quad set occupied so, Kazimir targeted the other bandits to end their threat. (Wolfquad Beta 3&4) With his inhuman strength and enormous sword, He sped towards his enemies bringing down the massive weapon with both hands putting his strength in overdrive. He was attempting to cleave right through the entire affair.

The Ogryn pivoted mid charge, heading straight for them. Franticly he tried to swerve away but the brute was too quick, it's giant blade lunging forward.

“Emperor prote…” the Bandit managed before the sword cleaved through him, arm to thigh and embedding itself in the quad.

Your sword is now stuck; it will require a Full Action Strength test to remove. You wanted to cleave through bodies, there you go.

Wolfquad Bandit Beta2

Splattered by the chainswords grim work on his comrade the Bandit recoiled, scrambled to get away from this blaspheming maniac.

Disengage, Beta2 is now on foot 3m away and has escaped melee with Helene.

Wolfquad Bandit Beta4

Shouting curses at the hulking monster he slid of the back of the Quad and legs it full pelt.

Run, Beta4 is now on foot 18m  and nolonger in melee with Kazimir, however as it was not a disengage action Kazimir gets to make one standard melee attack at Beta4. Remember you do not have your sword right now. You do get +20 to hit in melee as target is running.

The glare and ping of rapid cooling following a laser strike on metal alerted the Bandit that while he had been reloading the RPG launcher the enemy was not going to stay still, but hunkering down in the quad was keeping him safe.

Bandit Alpha1

Seeing movement in the open door of the Goliath took his shot. If the enemy had the audacity to shoot them while they carried out righteous work then he was not going to let that go unpunished.

Kazimir grunts as the sword gets stuck into the machine. Apparently, the machine spirit did not approve getting nearly chopped in half with its erstwhile operator. But he didn't have time to reflect as the other bandit of the quad scrambled to get away from him. With lightning reactions since he always intended to get to both of them, Kazimir used the stuck sword a stabilizing force and swung himself around back-fisting the other bandit. With enough force to shatter bone the other Bandit was in trouble trying to get away from the Machine reborn man.

Ariel

The Bandit with the RPG launcher was a threat, one the others had recognized as well. Watching their attempts through the Goliaths protected windscreen Ariel looked around considering her options, her laspistol was unlike to be much help when the others had not had much success with more powerful arms. On top of that the fog was a nuisance, she wasn’t even sure if her other shots had hit the Bandits.

Glancing back the mech solider and fanatic seemed to have their corner covered.  Well there was one way to ensure the Bandit would go down, despite any fog.

Bandit with Huntig Rifle

He had had the inhuman nicely lined up in his scope now that the Goliath had stoped moving when it lurched forward again. He had barely enough time to look up to see where it was going when it collided with the Quad, flinging debris everywhere. Then the flash as the fuel tank or grenade store ignited the other. Dropping out of the burning tree the Bandit half run half stumbled down the ravine.

Run down to water’s edge, now under cover of undergrowth somewhere down there.

Kazimir

Kazimir grunts as bullets riddle his armor with impact prints, some damaging his cybernetic bits some more. Sparks fly as one hit upon his wound already in the back of his torso. But due to it's trajectory did not cause much more damage as one deflected off his armor and his arm. This happened as he tried to dive behind the disabled Wolfquad, as he was impacted. The last round tearing a chunk from his scalp creating a racket of metal on metal, when he finally made it to the other side of the quad. Now down to his pistol with his sword stuck. He looked towards the man whose leg he had pummeled.

Structure Time End

Semi Structure Time Start

Given the way the fight is going, namely the ambusher’s dead or fleeing; I am taking this to a less structured but not full narrative time. You are not constrained by strict Full Action / 2 Half Actions routine, but you do still have a turn order, though it is more open. Obviously only do a reasonable amount of stuff in your turn. I’ll describe what each of the bandits will do on their turn and then it can all happen in sequence.

  • Bandits Alpha 1 and 2 are going to retreat into the wood.
  • Bandit Beta 2 will run full distance away from Helene, Helene will get an attack of opportunity if you so want. Helene can catch up to him if she runs, but won’t be able to do any other major actions.
  • Bandit Beta 4 is going to limp along at speed (it be comical if he wasn’t bleeding all over the road). Kazimir will not be able to catch up to him given his head start from last turn. Perhaps try to retrieve your sword.
  • Bandit with Hunting rifle is going to make himself scares in the undergrowth.
  • Bandit Delata2 will shout a few curses and then retreat down the ravine.
Edited by Trokair

Aria

It was never wise to believe a conflict ended simply because the enemy had taken shelter. Jumping from the back of the Goliath Aria took quick assessment of targets and allies, wafting smoke marking the retreat of the sniper. She was quicker than most on her feet and assessed the chances of catching the fleeing bandit against the risks of being drawn too far from her post.

Tracking or Awareness as appropriate: 9 - pass

Varn:

Sitting down in the back of David, he found his stash. He gulped down a hefty slug of Grog to ease the pain from his bullet wound.

Fight stopped, he listened.

Lithely he slipped down to the ground and began searching the nearby dead...

Varn

Bodies to search, pick one:

  • Bandit who had RPG at beginning, somewhat toasty.
  • Dealta1, halfway down ravine, in bits and barbecued, will require Challenging (+0) Agility or Strength test to safely descend ravine.
  • Beta1, on ground by Wolfquad, bloody with mangled leg.
  • Beta3 on ground by damamged Wolfquad, spliced in twin, very wet and sticky.

Aria

You can see traces of the the Bandits initial hasty retreat, further down the trail become less clear. You see a flash or two of the retreating Bandit but he is keeping his head down as best he can. There are no indication that this is a feint on his part.

Helene

The cleric was confused by the words of the bandit. Inhuman Monsters? Emperors Light? Were these a deception of the heretic? Or had these raiders been misled themselves? Worse yet, had Helene been lied to? Doubt wracked her mind as she quickly reached out to grab the fleeing combatant, seizing his shoulder as she kept him back and spoke to him.

"Wha, you think us to be heretics? W- we're on a pilgrimage, you attacked us!"
