Dump those spoilers then folks.

Its 500 pages, unless people go all night tomorrow is the most likely corse.

Spoiler

But for a taste, Actea is cyrene who has co opted part of the Alpha Legion operation ( named Alpha special character) who are  on terra to activate remaining assets for the Emperor but instead she is twisting them to a broader anti chaos use with her powerful psychic abilities. Oh she is also a perpetual now.

Everyone including Horus ( who is kinda in a warp induced senile memory coma) fangirls over Sanguinius so hard.

Bhad bastion falls off screen and Dorn  starts off already back at the palace. Which is just so lame.

to clarify something from the spoiler above:

Cyrene has been a Perpetual since she was brought back to life in Betrayer. This, at least, isn't a new thing.

But I'm super disappointed to hear that

Bhab has fallen in-between books and Dorn is at the Palace. Him being at Bhab Bastion and teleporting from there, which results in him not being by the Emperor's side aboard the Vengeful Spirit and arriving late was one of my favorite theories so far. Being unable to link up before things went to hell even if things were outside his direct control would've done a lot to grind down the stone man.

Honestly it was news to me. When did it get mentioned?

The major revelations and some other tidbits, at least to me (I'll answer any other questions as well - Just finished it five minutes ago, but it's still 500 pages worth of stuff)

Spoiler
  • Actae is confirmed to be Cyrene Valantion
  • The Khan has been revived, but he will not awaken for many weeks, after the Siege is done
  • Horus is confirmed to be the one who dropped the shields, wanting to emphasize his ending of his father's dream in a final duel (Horus is also quite loopy at this point, referring to his officers as dead captains and thinking that he is in the midst of an interview with Mersadie)
  • As he leaves the Golden Throne and lets Malcador take his place, the Emperor specifically calls him "the Hero"
  • When the Emperor launched his teleport assault on the Vengeful Spirit (4 Companies - The Emperor and a detachment of the Hetaeron, Sanguinius and the Blood Angels, Dorn and the Fists, Valdor with more Custodes), everyone got shunted to different locations rather than where they had planned, with the Emperor ending up on some unknown subdeck, Dorn to an endless desert where Khorne tempts him, Valdor to another subdeck, with only Sanguinius arriving at the right place
  • The part that's going to have people mad as all hell - Upon arriving on the Vengeful Spirit, the Hetaeron turn against the Emperor, corrupted by the influence of Chaos as they cry tears of blood and howl. The Emperor is able to banish the influence, but he must constantly ward their minds under the influence. Out of the full hundred that came with him, only 27 survive either the Emperor killing them outright or the Emperor killing them as they lie on the ground, unable to stand and resist Chaos' power
  • Abnettverse Connections: The Alpha Legionary that's been accompanying Oll's group is Ingo Pech. After the Alpha Legion broke with the Cabal, the Legion began to prepare for every contingency - To support Horus, to support the Emperor, to stand against both, to pack up and leave, or to ignore everything and focus on Chaos, and others. To this end, cadres of the Legion were seeded on Terra as sleeper agents, to be awakened with a code-phrase that would tell them what side to join. Pech was sent originally with the code of "Xenophon," swearing allegiance to the Emperor. However, Actae has changed the word that he is to say - she wishes to harness Horus and use him to stop the Gods and has changed his code to be the one that ignores both sides and focuses on defeating Chaos. That code word? - Orphaeus, one of the names of the King in Yellow
  • Oll and his group are able to make it to the Palace, but they are too late, as the Emperor has already left
  • Abaddon pulls a portion of the Sons of Horus deployed on Terra back to the Vengeful Spirit, wishing to defend his liege even through his madness
  • Fafnir Rann is the one that consigns Sor Talgron to his fate as the Warmonger
  • Barthusa Narek linked up with a group of Word Bearers to get to Terra. Once their dropship was shot out of the sky, he killed the survivors and now lies in wait on the battlefield, waiting for Lorgar to appear in his gunsights, unaware that he's never coming

I mean, yea its kinda incongruous lol.

Drachnyen remarks a lot of times how incorruptible the custodes are in Master of Mankind. Blah blah blah genecraft, blah blah blah ultimate creations, blah blah blah made to perfectly kill daemons in tandem with the sisters of silence.

Did the marines have a similar total corruption?

Spoiler

No, the Marines are not shown to have experiences the same, but that's likely due to the nature of the Spirit being more or less a conduit between the materium and the Immaterium at this point

Is there an admission that the Emperor made a pact/deal/whatever with Chaos, out of his own mouth?

Spoiler

Not from him, but from Malcador. One of the big themes in this book is the use of something called "sympathetic magic." It's a ritual the Emperor gained from his early years that acts as a way to "vouchsafe that which is imagined to come to pass in the future." For the magic to become undone, the gods would need to turn against their own nature and undo the laws of their world. The Emperor's plan was this - Apotheosis for the entire human race, in a world where humanity could forge its own future. He drew up this sympathetic magic to plot out his course for humanity. But the gods, seeing what his plan would lead to, went against their nature to stop him. That's the "pact," per se

This sounds really good to me so far.

Spoiler

Im fine with Custodians being corrupted if the Vengeful Spirit is being portrayed as essentially the beating core of Chaos being drawn into the physically into the world.

Put differently, if the book does a good job of making this feel like a unique gathering of the most potent aspect of Chaos congealed into one place? Sure. Because its more about the direness of the circumstances than the Custodians being flawed.

If they use this as a que to start making Custodes get corrupted easily? Thats alot less forgivable.

I did not get my copy this time, site glitched.

Irked though, waited quite a bit and then was able to add to cart and then it lagged to death due to the damned scalp-goblins. I'd say GW should get their act together but they got their money so who cares I guess?

Not a spoiler to say this book uses a lot of words I've never heard before. Just googled Smaragdine for example.

Edit next page on, had to google colubrine.

Further edit: this is getting a bit annoying. On certain pages I've had to google 4 or 5 words. His extensive vocabulary is being used as a bludgeon rather than to illuminate. Its not quite at the levels of the people on reddit who used to use big words (often incorrectly) to sound smart, but its hampering my reading flow.

So where did everyone get the leaked ebook? I’m getting FOMO

some sites sell the ebook legally - and they allow you to buy it when it goes on preorder

And then obviously it gets shared

I am more irritated by the fact that chapters are on average barely 4 pages long, as if it was written for a TikTok user with attention span of a goldfish.

I got the preorder for the ebook on BL, but it says it will be available next week. I’m just surprised that you can buy it legally now if BL is holding it until next week. This or I’m missing something

Technically, those stores are breaking the release date. On the other hand, they are still being supplied by BL/GW, who either don't realize - despite it being common knowledge and having happened at least for the past year - or don't care because they're smaller outlets, or regional ones. The bulk will still be sold via the big digital retailers, and direct sales. And in the meantime the talk online drums up hype by way of reviews.

Either way, the "hit" they take doesn't seem to bother them enough to put a stop to it.

Now, if they were actually smart business people, they'd drop the preorder week on digital copies purchased through their own webstore entirely, to attract direct sales that they don't have to split the revenue on with retailers. But they ain't clever like that.
