AND not only are we heading into a fifth year, I've had company EVERY MONTH of the way, with several of us completing at least 1 model every month for four years.......amazing. To the regular crowd, welcome back, to the new-comers, welcome aboard. 2023 is off to a fantastic start with 29 Frater picking up the Challenge, we pladged a whopping 330 models. Of the 29 Frater, 23 of which managed to complete their vows and a total of 291 models. I'm aiming for a 10 man EC Lascannon support/Sunkiller squad with Centurian, 5 Custodians and 5 rubrics. To fill up the spray box I've also undercoated 12 more Zone Mortalis sections, I like to paint them in 3s so I'm aiming at 9 of them done, if I get all 12 done it'll be a bonus. I treated myself to a whole new paint, and Dawnstone is lovely so that was worth it. I also quite enjoyed painting a Primaris, except that thing around the neck really seems unnecessary. I might expand to a Kill Team - although a bit of me thinks Badab War setting (pre-Primaris) would have been better. I did the base to match my Guard Veterans, in case they (by some miracle) grace a table together one day, but I'm not sure if it's enough of a contrast with the Dawnstone. These extra photos are just to show I made an effort on the chapter symbols freehand - best I could do! I might have to look for custom decals or 3d prints if I expand. What the photos don't show is the red stripe down the helmet - there is just no good angle. Overall I was trying for a Rogue Trader feel, and so deliberately didn't want to emphasise any Polynesian / Maori / other Pacific culture influences which I see are popular, but I did try just a little nod in that direction with one knee pad.
