Dark Angels Captain with power weapon and relic shield

Body is the new Primaris lieutenant with multiple weapons, sword came from the Bladeguard I think, the head and tilt plate came from the Grey knights, the shield is from the Deathwing Knights kit, the kneecap comes from the Stormcast Vanquishers and even though you can't see it, the backpack is from the Dark Angels veteran kit.

Added a Dark Angel dangly bit from the Veteran kit. Crozius Arcanum is also from the same kit and the head is one of the Steam Knights from Maxmini. Tilt plate is from the Grey Knight kit and the backpack is a 3d printed one

Tested a cordless airbrush with the lieutenant. Good coverage, but I did need to dilute the mix a little more than usual. Bonus points for the spray being that little bit inconsistent that the armour paint is becoming uneven at the edges, which should help highlighting.

Well, I haven't uploaded anything for a couple of months, life has been busy. Having to be an adult, I had to do some DIY around my house and it being winter has largely killed my drive to do any hobbying.

My local store has recently had it's anniversary, so I picked up a couple of kits, including some of the anniversary models. And last night, I kinda gave myself a kick up the arse to try and do some kitbashing.

Dark Angels Captain from the Company Heroes kit. Sword is from the new Dark Angels upgrade sprue (Yes, I got the Deathwing Assault box). Still need a couple of bits to really make him more Dark Angel-y. And yes, I love this winged helmet.

Sharpshooter marine from the same box. Another couple of Dark Angel bits and decided to give him a bit of a story in the shape of the Deathwatch shoulderpad.

And possibly going to get into Killteam, or maybe just a small Chaos force (I have a surprising number of Cultists...)
Anyway, wanted to test out an idea of a band of Renegade marines slowly becoming more corrupted. So taking the approach the GW had for the 13th Great Company in the 13th Black Crusade global campaign, largely loyalist bodies with just a couple of Chaos bits to represent either the corruption setting in or they've taken to scavenging parts from other warbands. Idea is that the higher up in rank, the more corrupt they've become, so the rank and file think they've been betrayed by the Imperium, but the commanders have full drunk the crazy juice and have given themselves to Chaos.

How do you eat a mammoth?

Larger projects tend to be intimidating, that's the way of things.

And it's the same for me, I want to build a 40k Dark Angels army, split between Greenwing and Deathwing, and a Horus Heresy Dark Angels army. And the pile of shame gets bigger and bigger. It's hard to tackle that massive project. So I'm trying to combat that because I know I'd burn out on just diving into what are essentially 3 Dark Angels armies at once. To that end, I am going to try to make smaller projects, something that can serve as a break, even if it's more marines.

I want to do the Hounds of Khulain, a Renegade kill-team.

I want to do the 13th Solar Auxilia Cohort, the Beasts of Caliban.
I want to do the Harrenth Crusade, a task force composed of units from various homebrew chapters.

To that end, I present a captain from the Knights of Carnonos, the first homebrew chapter from the Harrenth Crusade. Blocked in the colours for the moment.

So how do you eat a mammoth?

By eating the sabretooth cat first.

Stannis, is that you?

You're not going to believe this, but I've never watched an episode of Game of Thrones. Only found out about the resemblance when I posted the image on a discord earlier tonight.

I was looking at Celtix deities for inspiration and came across Cernunnos. Liked the idea of a gunmetal armour and yellow tabards. Just a weird coincidence. Funny one too.
