Hi all!

As the proud owner of 7 full Firstborn Tactical squads, among other things, I figured it'd be interesting to have a look at what best fits our lists in 10th.

Yeah, yeah, divisive topic - please can we keep this to a discussion of how Firstborn work on the table as they are now, rather than any speculation about what might happen. Look, I'm as upset as the next guy that my Company Veterans squad with combi-plasmas and storm shields is no longer street legal, but I guess maybe I have the meat of 2 Command Squads now?

So far I've had some success with Devastators (at elevation for Plunging Fire) paired with a Dreadnought's reroll bubble. They melted a Chaos Knight in a single round of shooting with the support of a Repulsor and Oath of Moment, so very happy with them.

Chaplains are very, very tasty with anything that gets to swing a lot, so something like foot Assault Marines out of a transport are tempting to try out.

I haven't been able to spot a real niche for my Vanguard Veterans (sobs in magnets) that I'm happy with yet, and all of my Sternguard Veterans are looking for their lifted soles in bemusement...

So, what are your favourite Firstborn combos, and how do we get the best use out of them this edition?

Terminators we've been over already.

The Command Squad is actually interesting - 2 guys with Lascannon and "Astartes Shields" in with an Ancient, Champion and Apothecary sounds more than a little funny to me.   Especially since the Command Squad specialists aren't technically characters at this point.

Some of it will depend on Chapter - some chapters have firstborn special characters left, some don't.

Tactical Squads probably fared the worst of the Units-Fomerly-Known-as-Troops by being locked into 10's, and having a so-so bespoke for their equipment.

Assault Centurions are probably overlooked given the number of ways you can try and Advance + Charge with them overcoming their low MV.  I still don't think they're "good" but they're better than they were.

Contemptor Dreads look pretty decent.

Assault Squads (especially with Jump Packs) were potentially "Decent" at the end of 9th and even better now.

Bikes took a hit with Outriders being Bike Squads but better for a little more points.

Scouts aren't bad - infiltrator, Scout 6" and Strategic (Redeploy)

Sniper Scouts are the big winners.  Decent general purpose shooter, with insanely good defense.

Haven't heard many people talking about Scout Bikes, but Outflank and the Astartes Grenade Launcher - KRAK has some interesting applications.

Tornadoes are mean.

The Typhoon can be annoyingly like Stealth Suits shooting and fading.  Until you roll a 1.

TF Cannons are fun again.

The Rhino is hiding under a layer of dust.

The Razorback is kicking a rock down the road.

The Whirlwind is crying in a corner.

Land Raiders are Cheering.

Predators are strutting around the garage.

The Vindicator is snickering.

Aircraft are giving all the ground vehicles dirty looks.

Because it is getting overworked?

This thing was such a problem competitively that it got a points hike super early, remember?

Not a real combo, but the two Vindicators that fight alongside my Primaris BT did some real work in my first games, especially with OoM. Not much left when you point them at a vehicle.

But we're not playing hyper optimized tournament lists, so YMMV.
