Hello everyone! I'm EidolonDragon. Long-time nerd, been getting more into wargaming after getting a 3D printer and fighting off some stress demons and whatnot. It also helps that the my husband and I have made a custom tabletop ruleset for maximum simplicity and customization and small model count so it's less daunting to begin. I've learned a lot about modelling/warhammer from my husband but am still very much a noob. I've borrowed his stuff to make things before but only recently have gotten enough supplies to work on models with my own tools. Now that I've started building some chaos dragon-salamanders with stuff printed on my GW-Destroyer5000, I figure it's time I poke my head in on here where my husbando has been a long time member.

So yeah, I love dragons and I love grimdark things and armor and swords and stuff, and cool scifi guns and robots and super chompy space bugs. I hope to be at least a net neutral to have around, though I will likely mostly be lurking a lot. Maybe post my noobish first project. Pleased to meet you all in advance!

Welcome!  I'm sure the folks of the Chaos forums would love to see your heretical works, so why don't you swing by, start a topic and share.

As well, there is the Call to Arms painting event going on right now until September 30 - its divided into 3 factions (Chaos, Imperium, and Xenos) so if you want to experience the encouragement and enthusiasm of your fellow faction mates, you should vow your (mostly - they can be base coated) unpainted models in the appropriate faction's stronghold.   Hint, hint, chaos can use all the help it can get! :biggrin:

Thank you everyone! I am already very happy to see a larger welcome than I expected. It's quite motivating and now I wish I weren't so slow at actually getting things done xD I will definitely post my models as I get them more done.

Welcome! I for one hope you'll post your projects. Is your homemade system a skirmish or army game?

To answer your question, it's probably closer to a skirmish game, but should support skirmish and army sizes both. It's actually already posted here;

 if you want to check it out :D

As soon as I get over my silly anxiety, I'll start a thread in the chaos zone with my dragon-sallies. It's gonna be a weird balance to not put as much dragon stuff as I'd like to on them so they still are actually space marines. Don't wanna do the equivalent of wolf-wolfing the wolf-wolfs Spacewolves or the like. xD There's also probably going to be some dragon-demons as well, given the inspirations and ideas behind the project. Would it be appropriate to put those under daemons, or keep them with my space marines? Note that while I know a fair bit of lore already, I know only different stories of rules of different editions, but am far from actually current or knowing too much, so I'm not quite taking rules into account if I could technically use them within the same army.

I do have a general sort of question, though I probably could find a thread for it I do like asking personally - Is there anything I should know about posting here? Just like, things that new people might not think about or forget? Is there such things as too large of walls of text of homebrew lore? Also any tips, trade secrets for modelling/painting that anyone has? As in, thin your paints, but something else like the ultimate way to green stuff to beauty. I'd love to hear opinions from veterans in addition to my husband!

Welcome aboard, and looking forward to seeing your models when you share them. If it helps, I find this place is great for constructive feedback, and this feedback and interaction with frater keeps me super motivated to paint and show off what I've done on here.

Henlo husbando, it me.
i don't know what to post here cus we already talk all the time xD
but its cool to see that you made an aco:cuss: and introduction and everything! and definately post your stuff around here wherever appropriate, peeople are very nice on here, and good at giving tips and advice^^

also
@nilsh We aimed for somthing inbetween, where you can dip into either side, as there is a distinct lack of "low model count but still an army" size games, its usually either big full army or single-models skirmish. i think around the model count of early 40k is similar to our game, but the models split into more and smaller units^^
