Tangent, but the fact that Volume II came 3rd in the "Book of the Year" votes tells me either the voting thing is faked, or the audience's tastes are very different to my own.

It was Erebus or Alpharius who messed up the numbers! I know it was!!!

I have yet to check out the Lion book, but I know a lot of people liked that one which is why it was so high up. But in my opinion, volume III was miles and miles better than volume II due to some of the reasons I listed back when I did my review.

Part 3 only released this year or were the dates for selection different to calendar year?

They always go January-January (January-February this year) for whatever reason. I believe Godeater’s Son came out January 2023 and wasn’t included in this year’s voting for instance. Why would they do it this way? Chaos is the only answer.

Just finished this.

Not sure how to feel about the three overall. Generally pretty good, a bit of bloat but things tended to tick along despite the marathon length.

Don't feel the ending was particularly satisfying. Erebus in particular probably cements his place as most hated character of the entire series with how much he anti-climactically ruins potentially interesting threads.

Would have liked a bit more of a personal sitrep among the surviving movers and shakers once the dust has settled, as I feel it became a bit of a disjointed/disassociated? - I don't know the word to assign - waffle about the future.

Some interesting nuggets though sneaking in at the very end there.

Only if you live in Nottingham or reasonably close by.  Happy for those who do get a copy and make the trek but sad for those overseas who will be unable to participate.

There are copies at other stores, I saw a post for one in the states I think it was LA.

Well, its commendable at least that they tried to do something about it, and are now giving some Uk residents a shot at getting these after all. Thats quite a lot of copies left actually, but surely there will be 683 people there that day to snag them up:biggrin:

I really doubt that many people will show up.  A lot of people have given up and moved on.  Even those hardcore fans may struggle to get to Nottingham on a workday.

I foresee scalpers heavily cashing in.  Students with nothing to do could turn up in droves to bag a copy to re-sell.  Will pay for a few nights out around town once it’s flogged on eBay.

Its a little sad that perhaps the most talked about and published aspect of the final novel, of the final trilogy, of the final mini series, of the Horus Heresy books is how badly the company botched its release.

A lad at my local who has all but the final book brought this up on Sunday game night and the amount of negativity over the Siege LE books was surprising. I had thought people had moved on.

BL needs to just announce a new complete made to order set and bury this thing once and for all.

ps: To be completely honest missing out on Echoes of Eternity LE has left me a little salty to this day. The fact that it ended up being for me the best siege book did not help the matter.

Part of the problem with that is it really only benefits the people close to LA or on the West Coast and able to get there. For people in say the Midwest or on the East Coast you're just kinda screwed over if you don't know anyone that could go.

I agree, I don't think its fair at all how the copies seem to only be going to Nottingham and LA.  And this is coming from somehow who lives less than two hours from WHW and could easily get there to snag a copy if I wanted to.  Especially when we all know that the scalpers will turn up in droves to get their copies from WHW.

On facebook there is a guy who is planning to fly over from the Balkans just to get a copy.  It's bonkers.

Thats some dedication. I hope for him he does not arrive late to the queue and get ticket 684.

Seriously though, I hope these copies will go to people that want them and cherish their lovely hardcover LE. Would be a shame if they just languished there in their warehouse.

As someone who can't afford/has the capacity to travel to either sales points it sucks big time. Just saw on the FB collectors group that there's still about 150 copies languishing in the LA store as not that many people turned up. It should be very little issue to send those books to more local shops to make sure collectors worldwide have the option to get them.

Wait a minute! Tell me GW/BL did not change the colour of the books part way through? Is that a shadow or did they really go from a dark brown/burgundy to more of a red colour!

That would really really annoy me.

Lovely collection but really???????

Think it's a shadow / trick of the light, as the only one that is a different colour (in my collection at least) is the Horus Rising one done in a matching style, which is a slightly darker shade than the rest.

I mean, they've got light reflecting off the spines similar to saturnine, so it can't really be from the shadows.

A quick Google search also shows a few pictures of it in the darker colour, as well as in the brighter red, so it looks like they just...weren't consistent with their material. Kinda really janky if so, and defeats the entire point of collecting them all if you had a chance to just get the wrong colour (after making it through the order gauntlet in the first place).
