Perhaps foolishly I felt inspired to sculpt a mini.

I'm trying to go for an Inquisitor wearing a duster style overcoat. I'll probably use a plastic head and hands though.

And more work on him. I think he looks like a bare bones no bs inquisitor lol. He needs the

Absolutely bonkers. I haven't seen such a thing (i.e. sculpting a mini from scratch) in a long time. It's not CAD-quality but it's good enough and the paintjob is really cool. Hats off!

I think you can take the skills you got from this experience an maybe take another go with a more dynamic pose, if you feel like it.

I think I'll try it again at some point. Yeah it was just a test of concept and getting more comfortable with some tools. I'm going to see if I can find some more tools to help get certain shapes. I like the handmade charm it has.

It's definitely a great attempt. You managed to get the silhouette right and, as I mentioned, the paintjob works really well. I hope that you'll pursue this line of the hobby - you've got a knack for it.

I'm envious, too ;) but in a good way. Take that as a compliment. I only attempt to recreate or modify things.

Also, what puts me to the greatest of shames, you've managed to create and paint a model in less time it takes me to just paint one.

To be fair, you probably paint better

Anyway I got bored and painted a metal deathwing terminator. I have to say I'm just not a fan of the green on bone look. But he's kinda adorable.

Found my old metal Dante too. He painted up kind of quickly trying to find a good gold recipe for some custodes.

Will probably get better pics after I finish his base and a couple little things

I used black base coat, then retributor armor with dark oath flesh wash. Then layer on retributor again. Couple highlights with lighter gold. I did a faint drybrushing with silver but can't really tell

Your WIP thread is like a wild roller-coaster ride. It's always a delight to visit here and discover that you're doing yet another thing from a really, really wide spectrum of hobby activities (painting, converting, sculpting entire miniatures (!!)) and a broad variety of models: from the most recent kits to ancient minis, like the little Terminators, Celestine or Dante.

As they say: variety is the spice of life. It's great that you keep yourself involved and us here entertained.
