Can't wait to see your pics Brother!.

I've finished my Psi Titan, except basing, so now back to miniminimarheens.

One Legion Aerial Assault Formation is front of the queue.

I'd have used all GeeDub dudes, but as we know, their sprue mix is unfavorable.

So here's the WIP:

Minimum Core, plenty of Support.

I would have done the third THawk as a transport for a third lot of Assaulters, but I need a slot for my Termies and this Formation seems appropriate enough.

I'm painting the TDA first, 2.5 bases won't take long....

Big question for the brains trust though, I'm away from my books for a couple of days... can my Command squad ride with the Tacticals in the Storm Eagles or does it need its own ride?

As I only play casual they will regardless, but is it legit?

Edit: got it, sorted.

Yep, but my TDA will need to start embarked in a flyer, so no Deep Strike.

I was hoping we would see the Karacnos / Krios by now, but not even a preview as of yet.

I have officially completed my Mechanicum Battlebox, I just need to find the time to break out the light box and take some pictures. I’m also well on my way with the Stalker Constructs, as of today I’m almost done putting down the metal base and the black / red has been completed. I had to grab more Leadbelcher yesterday and ended up walking out the door with yet another Stalker box… I have absolutely no willpower.

Yeah was expecting to see them up for pre order soon.

Looking forward to seeing your stalkers :)

The issue I have with placing Terminators or Tacticals in Thunderhawks is the fact that you need to put the ‘Hawk in Hover Mode and at that point you have a pretty good chance of losing an expensive model pretty quickly.

That’s a good question. I could have sworn you can put a Command Squad in a transport with Troops, but I may actually be wrong on that. Truth be told, I put mine in a transport with my Troops whether it’s technically legal or not, as do my friends.

They’re coming along, albeit very slowly. Whodathunk there would be so much metal on a bunch of robots? lol

Yeah, the hover thing is a huge risk, but it's the only support slot I have left available in 3 formations.

TBH, they can stay embarked until late game if necessary. They can be mop up/reinforcements once it's safer.

Or failing that, they can just get amongst it and draw fire away from the rest. Don't want them getting caught in a dead Flyer even if they're as cheap as chips.

I feel assault marines are the best option all the way, esp if the hawk gets shot down. Termies always feel like a bit of waste in a transport, given that they come with deep strike. At least you got the two hawks full of assault marines, should be interesting.

I’m still a fan of transporting Terminators in Spartans, I just feel that it’s something that should be reserved for either larger games or taken in smaller quantities. No doubt the Spartan is formidable on the table, but 85 points each is a bit of a point sink.

Looking for a blast from the past - does anyone know what the dimensions of the Epic Space Marine (1989) tokens - the blast markers, support counters, rubble tokens, order tokens, etc? Any grognards with an old copy lying around?

Just create your own tokens from scratch.

I've sent you a PM, but thought I'd post in case anyone else was wondering the same. I no longer have these, so this is a picture harvested from eBay – and the measurements therefore rather approximate. Sorry I can't be exact, but hopefully the info is close enough for you to make a start on your project.

  • The order tokens (at the bottom) are ~20mm (¾in) in diameter
  • The mine markers above the order tokens are ~25mm (1in).
  • The long rubble marker above those is ~25 x 75mm (1 x 3in), from which you can estimate the dimensions of the others. These match the footprint of the cardboard buildings (so slightly smaller than the plastic roofs).
  • The large round templates at the top – blind, plasma etc. are ~65mm (2½in) in diameter.

What have you got planned?

Greatly appreciated! This is perfect.

I'm doing an updated re-fabrication of the 1989 box to play with my gaming group, with just enough miniatures to run every scenario from either side. Fun stuff inbound.

Some funkier EA this time, 2v2 custom scenario on a 12'x4' table with umpired NPC forces running in the middle. Fortified forge-fane in the middle, four outer storages outside the walls, two armies closing in in waves to rob and ransack what they can. In the end, no clear victor can be declared, though amidst the burning wreckage and torn down walls, it is clearly not the local administration... poor arch-magos Fönstern-x64 will be left with a long bill to pay after the invaders have taken their fill from their warehouses and disappeared.

Each player had 3000 points split into four waves of reserves, some of which had a long way to walk in order to get into the thick of it. All players had for whatever reason taken plenty of AA guns but nobody had any planes, or much of any other fast units either... oh dear. Plenty of headbutting into solid walls, robot sentries and other defenses in the initial half while the second stretch turned bloody as the overwhelmed locals finally saw their walls breached by force and got squished between the two advancing fronts as they started to properly meet in the middle right before the end of the day.

Did the reserve waves roll to see when they came in or was it assigned to later turns?

Here's the scenario outline I drafted. We ditched the reserves markers, as the forces people brought were slow enough for it not to really matter, but basically the forces were drip-fed onto the board on turns 1-4 with the final two left for all-out violence. There were some other details, such as the fortified area being covered with an artillery and teleportation stopping force field until the walls were properly breached, the possibility of destroying sections of walls (as that's not a regular feature in EA) and so on.
