Kraith

Kraith grimaced slightly. Splitting up with such a small company, in the belly of an enemy ship with unknown compliment? Not good. Still, the Dark Angel was eager to move and so was the Tech-Marine. He blink-highlighted the second icon and had his batle-armor plot at a possible route. He sent the information to Arazakiel and Ashmon.

++We move.++

Initially you are able to move quickly, the ship being very simply organized.

However you eventually run into resistance.  The group heading fore and up are probably only a handful of meters from the bridge when they find a closed bulkhead door blocking their path.

The group heading towards the engineering spaces at the rear of the ship is perhaps 2/3rds of the way though the main cargo bays when they see a mass of industrial servitors moving to cut off the exit aft from the cargo bays.  Currently they are about 100 meters away and a mix of human sized and what you assume to be Ogryn-based servitors.

Elvrit:

Elvrit didn't much care that the survivors split into two smaller units. Simple efficiency, and if there was something aboard that could threaten three Astartes, three more probably wouldn't stop it either.

As the Engineerium team passed through the cargo bays, the Breacher looked around carefully, trying to determine what the Conveyor was hauling for the traitorous Death Guard.

Awareness Test: Per42 +10(Awareness+10) +10(HS:Sight) +5(MkIII Autosenses) = 67, Roll: 52, Pass with 1DoS

When the mass of servitors appeared, blocking their path, Elvrit grinned. Some fun to be had, then. Still too far away for close-up work, so he drew Toirneach and aimed the pistol over the lip of his shield, continuing to stride forward as he did. Looking towards the various types of automatons, he picked out the largest, a hulking brute clearly created from an abhuman base.

“Mine.”

Elvrit will select the largest Servitor as the target for his Suffer No Weakness Solo Mode.

Hadad

Acting as the rearguard to Elvrit and Basilisk he was the last to enter the cargo hold where the servitors were amassing, less an ambush and more just a horde to delay them.

“Mine.” The Breacher called, having selected a ogrynoid servitor as his challenge.  It was going to be like that was it?

“I’ll just take the lot on the left then if you won’t share.” Hadad spoke as he stepped to one side, warming up Rain and ensuring that the firing line was clear.

Arazakiel

"Let us see the nature of those aboard"

Arazakiels turned to one of the security picters, "By order of the Dark Angels and by the authority of the Emperor, you are commanded to unseal the bridge and bow to the judgement of the Astartes."

At the Bulkhead, there is no answer to your calls for the ship to open up.

--------------------------------------------------------------

In the main hold, the servitors are forming ranks in front of the entrance to the engineering spaces, though they are not yet doing anything actively hostile to you.  You also cannot see anyone in the immediate area that seems to be controlling them.

Elvrit:

As they continued to advance toward the Servitors, part of Elvrit's mind considered what they had seen as they passed through the ship's holds. Food supplies. Seemingly nothing out of the ordinary.

The Tribute was already well stocked with such provisions, so there was little point in scavenging. The only advantage to be gained was to deny these supplies to whatever Death Guard force was waiting for them, and to prevent the crew from revealing the loyalists' presence here. The total destruction of the Conveyor would accomplish both goals.

He activated his squad vox.

+++Looks like there's nothing worth taking down here. Suggest we take control of the Engineerium and rig the ship to blow? Within an hour we can see these traitors burned and be well on our way back to the Phastus garrison?+++

He felt a surge of irritation at having abandoned the penetration of the main Armoury. Nevertheless, they should be able to return to the Iron Warriors base well before their improvised explosive was set to detonate, and perhaps now they had a Techmarine as part of the group, the Armoury door would present less of a challenge?

Still, he thought, looking towards the ranked Servitors. First things first.

Arazakiel

A silent switch to comms to address the entire assault for, "We have encountered no sign of life save for the servitors at the breach. No defenders, no menials, no sound of whispers or footsteps. Nothing but automation."

Had this vessel been given over to the mechanicus, safe in their armoured shells beyond the reach of what little explosives they carried? If so why had they not challenged the astartes, why was this no more than a ghost ship.

Hadad

As he moved forward with caution, the potential hostiles still in his sight, and mulling over the comms a thought occurred.

“A servitorised crew is unable to tell secrets, and will be loyal to a fault. If you are planning a great treachery on the scale we saw, having your logistics lines forcefully silenced extends your reach and time before the reveal. How long have they been preparing for this?”

A rhetorical question no doubt, for if any of the others knew then surely they would have mentioned it already.

As you head aft towards the engineering spaces, the servitors do not directly respond until you are about 30 meters away, when they begin to move towards you.

In theory one or two of the smaller ones probably couldn't hurt you, but with thirty of them and four Ogryn-based servitors their numbers may matter.

Elvrit:

Elvrit had been considering whether there was any possibility of shutting the servitor crew down remotely, but at the very first step of the first construct towards the Astartes boarders, his instincts took over. Hormonal kill-urge flooded his system and he acted, controlling the surge of aggression into purposeful, targeted destruction.

The Phobos-pattern bolt pistol was a heavier model than many others, such as the newer Tigrus or Umbra, but Elvrit knew that Toirneach would still struggle to damage the Ogryn-based servitors. So even as he maintained his advance towards the biggest monster, he fired several rounds into the mass of smaller machine-men.

Elvrit will take the following Action: SAB at the Servitor Horde.
He will forego the SAB's +10 to Hit to instead move his Ag Bonus (4m) closer to the Ogryn Servitor that is the target of his Solo Mode.

SAB:
BS44 +30(Horde Size?) = 74, Roll: 61, 1DoS = 1 Hit, no extras.

(3,8) +9 = 17 at Pen4

Edit: plus 1 Hit vs Hordes, as Bolt Pistol is X

Not waiting to see what damage the bolt shells caused, the Breacher holstered his pistol and drew Hvass. As the blade flared to life, he grinned, eager to hack his way through the flesh-and-steel barricade.

The silent voice was the dissenting voice, the master of this ship had chosen their fate.

Arazakiel raised his plasma gun to engage the largest of the group.

Hadad

The servitor horde had ignored them until now, but the lockstep turn of so many towards the tree of them changed all that. Whether they had triggered some response, or the servitors had recived new orders he could not tell.

Elvrit was laying down some covering fire as he sought to challenge the Ogryn derivative. Time to clear some of the hoard then.

your fire devastates the mass of once-human servitors, killing around half of them.  The survivors seem to barely register it and lurch forward closing most of the distance, until they are  about 6 meters away from you.  The hulking Ogryn forms following closely behind.

Elvrit:

With a snarl, Elvrit smashed forwards through the burning servitors to hurl himself at the larger construct he had claimed, Hvass held ready to strike. The Ogryn's slack features showed no sign of the creature even being aware that it was under attack.

Even as his blade swept down towards the leg of the huge Servitor, another part of his mind was evaluating the fight.

+++Hadad!+++ he roared, +++The Salamander's fire will be more effective against the group. Start bringing the other big ones down!+++

OOC: Of course, that's totally up to you, @Trokair and @Necronaut?

It's just an observation that Necro's flamer (+Cleanse and Purify) is pretty handy against the Horde of regular guys, and one more blast should almost certainly bring them down below 10 Mag, at which point they shouldn't be as much of a threat? So it might be worth Hadad starting in on the other 3 big guys? I expect Rain should do a whole chunk of Damage…

As I said, that is 100% your call, though!

Haddad

He had not been quite sure which of the quartet of Ogryn derivative had been Elvrit challenge mark, or if he had intended to take on all four in his battle lust. It mattered little now as he was engaged with one, trying to cut him down to size with a sweep of the powered blade.

+++Hadad!+++ Elvrit  roared. For a moment Hadad though that perhaps the Breacher in his eagerness had gotten himself into trouble, but no, even in the midst of a challenge, his mind  was on the tactical disposition of the skirmish.

In answer Hadad steadied Rain as he scrutinised the nearest Ogryn. Resilliant creatures he knew, but these would be reliant on the cogitative augmentation that had servitorised them to function. The Head then and Rain agreed.

Kraith moved to the side, keeping clear of the battle and on the lookout for more hostiles. This was not a large battlefield, so another Marine body in the tumult could lead to issues.

He had approached steadily and assessed the situation. Standing by the side of the Techmarine, the horde remnant was still a threat.

As he drew upon the power of the warp to fuel his power, a breeze blew through the area they were in guttering the flames of the dead servitors. He summoned the dead ancestors from Old Alba and unleashed the Kra upon the foe. A brace of hate of similar fiery form struck the servitor remnant down.

The Basilisk

Hadrian grimaced at the naked, almost contemptuous way in which the psyker approached him and channeled his unnatural powers, cutting a swathe of destruction through the shambling horde of lobotomized labourers. He flinched away, knowing full-well the dangers of being too close to one touched by the Warp, hazards which seemed to make the flesh-rotting weapons of the destroyer-clades pale in comparison.

“Destroyer am I, Ashmon, of that which should not be. Do not think for an instant that my fires burn only traitors.”

The techmarine stepped forward and unleashed another torrent of phosphex-fueled fire, watching with no small amount of satisfaction as the bionic humans burned alive, the absence of their screams a silent symphony to match the sound of the raging inferno and charring of flesh and metal.

As the other half of the assault team arrives the combined fire finishes off the remaining non-ogryn servitors.

Haddad's fire brought down one of the larger servitors, but the others continue to fight.

Two of the Ogryn charge, targeting the Devastator and Tech-Marine, their flailing blows not landing on either target.

The last of them smashes his augmented lifting arm into elvrit's right shoulder, and despite it simply being blunt metal, it is delivered with horrifying force.

ooc: the servitor connected for 37 damage, no AP.

Hadad

Even has he felled one, another of the servitorised Ogryns closed with him; they were surprisingly fast for their bulk. No doubt machine enhanced muscles, or even piston driven legs where the culprit. The creatures makeshift weapons however were less precise in their movement and Hadad sidestepped the initial flurry.

+++Any of you want a chance at taken one of these on?+++

Hadad called to the others as he used an opening been the Ogryn’s strikes to put some distance between himself and it.
