Converting Assault Terminators

Recommended Posts

I've had a look online and can't find anyone else who's tried this, so I'll ask here.

Has anyone had experience converting the new Terminators into Assault Terminators?

If so (or if you just have ideas how), what bits would you recommend to do this?

(Assuming it's even possible in the first place)

Why wouldn't it be possible, all you need is arms, either from the old assault terminator kit or 3d printed bits.

PGTM has some double claws, though weirdly at 4 pairs.

Same seller, but mole claws in 5 pairs.

Where it becomes difficult is bits for hammer and shield, as those usually go chapter specific and are usually just the hands, as they're meant to use with the standard assault terminators kit.

The old arms really don't look out of place, but you will need to pad the shoulders to have the new pads fit. Used sprue-goo, but a blob of greenstuff or milliput would work just as well.

Here are some new Terminators with the old Deathwing Fists,

You'd want the arm sprues or the bits off them:

You'd probably have to file down the lip where the inner shoulder pad hangs over the joint. First thing I'd do is pin the arm to the new Terminator body to see what's flush and how it looks. The lip on the assault arms means you'll want to either file the lip down or fill the space underneath (GS, sprue goo, poster tac+superglue, whatever); depends on how it looks against the torso. Once the joint is flush on both sides, secure the pin with glue. Then dry fit a new shoulder pad like @Grotsmasha recommended.

The size and dynamics of the weapons should draw the eye away from any minute difference in scale.

A very easy way to do the arms in scale for a Thunder Hammer and Stormshield loadout would be to use the arms from the new Deathwing Knights kit. Simply swap the mace head with a thunder hammer head, and file off DA iconography on the shield as required. Lightning claws is a bit trickier but as other have pointed out, the old scale terminator arms can be made to work on the new scale bodies.
