Dr_Ruminahui
So, I figured out where I am getting my banner from for my Dark Commune - I'm stealing a cultist from one of the squads I'm building from my 2 Hedonnites Spearhead boxes (the old one - the new one is all demons). Here's the first of two squads of cultists built - these are from Blissbarb Archers. Sorry about the photo quality. Basically, I cut the bows and quivers off (the quivers were the hardest part) and replaced the bows with various pistols I had (mostly from the Necromunda outlaws kit, but some Escher, Catachan and Cadian ones too - and an Infractor bolt pistol for the squad leader) with close combat weapons from their own kit or from the AoS witch elves kit. The bottom picture is said squad leader, plus a small guy (I believe he's a token in the actual kit) to replace the guy I'm stealing out of the next squad to be my Commune banner. Had actually built them all a couple of weeks ago, except the guy with the red foot in the first picture - with him, when I was cutting off the quiver, his foot went flying god knows where, and today I gave up trying to find it and gave him bionics cut of a mechanicus trooper I'm never going to build. Overall, I'm pretty happy with them - they are a lot of work for 50 points of models, but they make great Slaaneshi cultists, IMHO. Bonehead
They do indeed. Looking forward to seeing them with paint on! Brother Christopher
Oh, no. You didn't. These kitbashes are great. And inspiring... I'll need to borrow the concept and see if I can get some AoS Wytch Aelves (or whatever fancy spelling GW went with) work as a bunch of angry Elder women. Looking forward to this project of yours. And the next bunch of Chaos Marines with the green capes. Dr_Ruminahui
Thanks, @Bonehead and @Brother Christopher. And Brother Christopher, it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise - both kit bashing and Slaanesh are my jam, so it was really only a matter of time before I combined the two in this particular fashion. Its actually an idea I've had percolating in my brain for a while, and which I came to seriously consider when the EC codex came out and I was thinking of Slaangors for spawn for that army - at the time, both the official spawn models and Slaangor were out of stock, so the Hedonittes Spearhead box (which includes these guys) was the only way to get Slaangor. If the EC codex had cultists as an option, I would have windmill slammed this conversion when the codex came out - instead, it took my Glutos-to-defiler project to kickstart me into buying the box, and then it going out of "print" for me to buy the second. I see no reason why Witches (however spelled) wouldn't work for angry eldar, though they would be far less armoured (aka not at all) compared to all the GW eldar models - unless you mean Drukhari, in which case they would fit right in with those witches (however spelled). They are very "jumpy" though, in their poses, so you would want to use them for a unit where that is appropriate (that said, I'm guessing there may be more static models in the range - I've only dealt with the "squad" box). All the witch bits I have are from kitbashing them with demonettes, which worked pretty well - hardest part was head swapping between those kits, as one has the neck on the head and the other on the torso. As for the green caped EC, that squad is now painted, and I'm just waiting for the bases to dry to post photos - I should have such tonight. BadgersinHills
Love the conversions! I saw someone convert Blissbarbs into Daemonettes, and that's something I'd like to do in the future. I like the bionic leg on the rightmost guy in the first photo, reminds me of the daemons on the EC codex cover. Dr_Ruminahui
Thanks, @BadgersinHills - I guess loosing that guy's actual foot was a fortuitous accident. I'll be converting the mounted guys in the Spearhead box into seekers, so I'll be getting some demons out of them - but that's a later project. Finished painting my green caped infractors, and am pretty happy - the capes are a bit brighter in person, though the green definitely does look better on the tassels than the larger surfaces. Particularly happy with the champion's face, That said, I tried putting a slaanesh symbol tatoo on his head, but it just looked better without it. Getting my first game in with them tomorrow - running a 1000 point list against my friend's orks in a "teach ourselves the 11th ed rules" match. BadgersinHills
Very cool. The cloaks are a great addition. Hope you have fun with your game, 11th edition looks quite interesting. W.A.Rorie
Awesome stuff as always @Dr_Ruminahui! Love the Blissbarb Archer Cultist. Gives me ideas for Causalities for my Red Hunters and Grey Knights. Dr_Ruminahui
Thanks, @BadgersinHills, @W.A.Rorie and @kabaakaba. Badger, my game was fun, but I made a lot of mistakes - both in terms of forgetting my rules, bad decisions because I wasn't familiar with the new edition, and bad decisions because I was dumb. Anyway, I intend to post a short battle synopsis in the Emperor's Children subforum - I'll share a link here when I do so. W.A.Rorie - Nooooooooo! Imperials are supposed to be casualties on my bases, not the other way round! That said, no way any of these guys are killing a space marine, especially in the fluff rather than in game. Kabaakaba, glad you like the capes. I'm working on my next batch (for my last squad of noise marines), which yellow. Finished painting my Chaos Lord converted from the EC Lord Exultant - I had one using the stock model already, and didn't want to double up, Eventually, I'll want a third Lord E, but I'll want to find a suitable 30K figure I can convert him from, as those are the most likely to be the suitable level of gaudy. Anyway, really happy with him As well, I finished building the last 2 figures for my dark commune squad. Pretty simple conversions, though I think they work well - the guy on the left is the same AoS Hedonite sorcerer I converted with a halberd, this time with a spear from a Hedonite seaker rider (I think they are called Slickblades - they are in the Spearhead box, and I used a bunch of their spears for my raptor conversions), and a AoS Wyche dagger instead of his mirror. Guy on the right is one of the archers (same model as the guy with the red foot I posted above) with a demonette seeker banner and an Escher autopistol. He also has some EC infractor grenades on his butt. And here is the whole squad together - also gave the guy in the middle a holster, otherwise I'll never remember he has an autopistol (only he and the flag guy do). phandaal, W.A.Rorie, Tallarn Commander and 4 others 7 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/382642-dr-ruminahuis-assorted-conversions/page/12/#findComment-6178912 Share on other sites
sitnam
Really cool work, I love the use of the HoS as a base. I wonder how some Escher heads/lasguns would work on a squad of Blissbarbs for ranged cultists Dr_Ruminahui 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/382642-dr-ruminahuis-assorted-conversions/page/12/#findComment-6178969 Share on other sites

Jhadzaan
Excellent work! Definitely love the Dark Commune and Cultist conversions. I need to find an excuse to mess with the AoS Wych models myself. Dr_Ruminahui
Thanks, @sitnam, @BadgersinHills and @Jhadzaan. Sitnam, I think they would convert up fine for the Escher rifles and arms, just that it could potentially be a bit trickier than the hand swaps I'm doing. Certainly, doing the banner bearer was much more of a pain than the others, though that's in part because the banner-shoulder-torso assembly of the demonette parts is a real pain even on their intended model. As for the Escher hair, you might potentially have problems having it fit around the face scarves - I'll try dry fitting that when I assemble my next batch, and let you know. Jhadzaan, these are Hedonite models, rather than Wyches, though I imagine any wyche based conversions would work similarly, if being (at least for the "troop" squad) a fair bit more "jumpy". I have done such a conversion for my demonettes, where I 50/50 kitbashed them with the GW demonette models.
