It occurs to me that now is perhaps as good of a time as any for us to name our warband seeing as how we have a rather fully fleshed out roster. Some ideas come to mind:

- Hagga's Heroes

- The Crimson Permanent Assurance

- Mongrel Battalion

- Damage, Inc.

- Cowboys from Heck

- The Syndicate

- Cabal of the Bleeding Eye

- The Heartbreakers/Heart-Takers

- The Dread Company or Dreadwatch

- The Claws of Vengeance

- The Machine

I'm a HUGE Hogan's Heroes fan so that first one is a strong go.

I also like the Cabal of the Bleeding Eye.

Dread Company is pretty solid too.

As is Mongrel Battalion.

Dangit, I can't pick.

I was thinking about this too but lost my train of thought

also I was toying with stuff on hand or a unifying theme….

something like

Beasts of Brimstone ( or Hounds / Claws ..)

Brimstone Furies

Blackstone Bastards ( Basilisks

Dredges of Brimstone

or maybe simply the

The Dredgeful

While Hagga's Heroes is a cool reference, I'd prefer not to name the warband after only one of us? After all, even if he's taking a lead role at the moment, that could change as the game progresses?

Considering that most of the Astartes players are members of Chapters that went back to the Imperium, one could consider our characters as no longer being legitimate sons of their parents... so I'd go for Blackheart's Bastards. (Valid use/meaning of the word, so doesn't need to be filtered)

Or maybe Blackheart's Betrayers, same reasoning, that many are from Chapters that turned against Huron?

Not bad - how about Blackheart's Blackguards, which, with the pronunciation provides sufficient rapscallion undertones of anti-authoritarian disdain, and plain old-fashioned thuggery?

@Mazer Rackham I could almost hear the Seneschal restraining himself from throwing in, "You recidivist scum!" to the end of his transmission. Bravo!

 too kind, too kind...

Aaaaaannnd - we're done!

That's Part One over now boys, please refrain from posting in the IC, Mr @Lysimachus could you please lock the thread for the time being?

IT'S GOT TO BE:

The Crimson Permanent Assurance

I'm getting flashbacks to my insurance days.  I cannot.  Blackheart's Blackguards is pretty solid!

You, poor tortured soul, my condolences.

That's a pretty crummy offer. Do a job for her, and she'll take away our ship and give us a substantially smaller and weaker one in return... no thanks.

Edit: I'm assuming that is just the opening offer, and a certain amount of back and forth is in the offing?

I'd maybe do the job in return for the Iconoclast. We keep the Dredge.

(I'd probably strip the escort for parts and use them to repair all the damage to our cruiser?)

Maybe we take her up on the offer whilst painting black Saltaires over heraldry and subtlety including a White Tigress IFF in transponders

Sounds pretty solid plan! Cheers!

Brimstone Blackguards?  No need to reinforce the connection to Huron in my opinion.

Swapping from a cruiser to a corvette?  There's definitely advantages to it, but only if we're focused on hit-and-run ops.  An Iconoclast is smaller and faster than any cruiser, and our crew levels would allow it to operate more efficiently that the Dredge, so fast-penetration raids like we discussed for Bounty?  Not a terrible idea.  If we can get the Dredge fixed up and re-crewed properly -- which is a massive "if" -- then we're better equipped for stand-up fights, but on top of everything wrong with it listed in the data thread, we're now missing a huge chunk of the bow.

Bear in mind that they're also offering access to gray and black market goods.  We won't have to pillage everything we need.

And while this is certainly not a thing we can do in the short term...but that's an Astartes strike cruiser in the hands of a rogue trader.  It was designed for Astartes, built for Astartes, stolen from Astartes.  Eventually, I'd like to steal it back.  That's easier to do if we're in her mistress' good graces.

That was the intention. Doing the job for the Iconoclast is a fair exchange, and you can operate now, and could keep the Dredge as your lumbering base for fixing up later.

Can we steal it take it back to the Corsairs and apprise Lord Huron of what's going?

We have a lead on duty-free plunder.  SUrely we should notify Lord Blackheart.

Plus...I mean we could easily raid this lady and claim we need to make it look like she's getting raided for discretion's sake.....

Then, eventually, we turn and take over her stretch of space to add to Lord Huron's empire.

That's a fair point. Good point about the crew. We've got about 10% on the Dredge, which is around 8k... but 8k is 50% on an Iconoclast, so much better operating standard?

If they'll go for that, I'd say it's a fair deal.
