Deck plates mar and shift, flexing as though made of putty as a massive vibration pounds through everything. She looks like she takes a deep breath - a draught of something other than mortal air, for she certainly is beyond the point of requiring mortal lungs. He head cranes back and a terrible sound batters through a larynx not constrained by bonds of reality or the frailty of mere flesh, this a siren call from the depths of whatever mercurial gutter Delphynie spawned from, or at least wallowed within. Mazer Rackham
GM Note: I think I wasn't very clear about Delphynie's Psychic Power attack in the description of her Actions, so I've gone to the Book. (Core, p.209): A Psychic Blast detonates to cover a wide area, affecting multiple targets simultaneously. The psyker must nominate a single point in space anywhere within range and line of sight. If the Focus Power Test is successful, then every target within the radius of the Psychic Blast is hit by the power. Psychic Bolts of all kinds may be dodged as if they were any other kind of ranged attack. A successful Dodge Test is sufficient to avoid a normal Psychic Bolt. Dodging a Psychic Storm or Psychic Blast is resolved in the same way as dodging Auto-Fire or Area Effect Attacks (see page 235 Core). (Core, p.235): Evading Auto-Fire, Multiple Attacks, and Area Effect Attacks Some attacks—such as those made with grenades, flamers, or guns fi ring semi-automatic or fully-automatic bursts, are especially difficult to avoid. When Dodging an area effect weapon (such as a flamer), a successful Dodge Test moves the character to the edge of the area of effect, as long as it is no further away than the character’s Agility Bonus in metres. If the character would need to move further than this to avoid the attack, then the Dodge Test automatically fails. When Evading Full Auto or Semi-Auto Bursts, each Degree of Success on the Dodge Test negates one additional hit. When Evading Swift or Lightning Attacks, each Degree of Success on the Dodge or Parry Test negates one additional hit. Essentially, then, if the Blast Radius is 18 metres, and your AG Bonus will not allow you to clear 18 metres (because you're at Ground Zero) then your Dodge fails, and the Damage is inflicted. This was my intention in the description I gave. Since perhaps this clarity was lacking, I will let any Dodge Rolls stand, but from now on this is how we go forward. Necronaut
Ukalegon Ukalegon turned to Hagga and roared over the cacophony, “Concentrate firepower into the abomination, Executioner! Lysimachus
Hagga: The psychic scream tore through the hangar with all the force of a Demolisher shell. Huron and several of his bodyguards were blasted from their feet, hurled prone before the daemon, like worshippers doing obeisance. The shockwave rippled onwards and outwards, an almost visible thing, catching several more of the renegades and knocking them down. Hagga managed to yank Eska back into the airlock and avoid the worst of it, though he could feel his ears ringing. Then the furiously barking hound managed to wriggle free of his grip and leapt forward. Too late to stop her, Rykaz cursed loudly, but made the most of his suddenly freed hand by drawing his sidearm. In the space of one warp-twisted moment, their little company had been divided, compromised and battered. The odds of any of them surviving this mess had been seriously harmed. Certainly Huron was in trouble. Maybe a tactical withdrawal might be wisest… and maybe it could solve all Hagga's problems? After all, if the Blood Reaver died, didn't any oaths sworn to serve him die too? The Executioner sighed bitterly. Impossible! Such cowardice would ruin his honour beyond repair - far worse than any task, however foul, that the Corsairs might ask of him. Grimly he flicked the tiny switch built into the back of his pistol's grip, and almost immediately the plasma weapon began to whine angrily. Ukalegon shouted, obviously having had the same thought as him, and rocketed into the air towards the monster. Hagga could not fault the Lamenter's bravery or his honour, and felt a moment of envy over the equipment that allowed him to get into the thick of the fighting so quickly. He watched as the mortal Adept buried his axe into the huge daemon's arm. Then the Lamenter's diving charge hammered into her, power armoured bulk snapping warp-forged bones and chainblade tearing into inhuman flesh. In one heroic moment, the Lamenter seemed to have turned this battle back in their favour. A moment of pure glory. “Clear a path to the Blackheart!” he snarled angrily at the Alpha Legionnaires, nodding towards the filthy little warp-mimics that cavorted around Delphynie and blocked his way. “Grenades and bolters!” Hagga chose a different target. He took careful aim, waiting for just the right opening in the swirling melee, his pistol's plasma coils already shining brilliant white with maximum power build-up. “I'll have my bloody share in bringing you down, witch,” he muttered hatefully, and fired. He suddenly wondered… how uncomfortable, how painful, how distressing would it be for a creature so addicted to external stimuli to lose, even briefly, one of her primary senses? Though it would be hard to see under his thick, black beard, a grin of savage joy crept across Hagga's face.
